How To Get Mega Energy In Pokemon Go
The most consistent way to obtain Mega Energy in Pokemon GO is by defeating Mega Pokemon in Raids. Cooperating with others to take down these powerful Pokemon to farm the Pokemon-specific Mega Energy.
Defeating a Mega Venusaur will give trainers Mega Venusaur energy. The amount of Mega Energy obtained depends on how quickly you and others defeat the Mega Pokemon. The faster you defeat the Mega Pokemon the more Mega Energy is received. Trainers can receive between 50 and 90 Mega Energy after each battle, which was increased from the original 35-50 Mega Energy trainers originally obtained when the feature was first released.
Mega Raids are about the same power level as Level 5 Raids so trainers will want to team up with as many trainers as possible. The Mega Pokemon that appears in Raids is on a rotating basis. Normally, a single Mega Evolution appears in Mega Raids for about a week before its changed.
After Mega Evolutions initial release, Niantic implemented another way to obtain Mega Energy by using the games Buddy system. Trainers who walk with your buddy can obtain one Mega Energy as long as they Mega Evolved that species before.
On rare occasions, Niantic rewards trainers with specific Mega Energy for completing certain Timed or Field Research normally during a special event. However, these are few and far in between so whenever a trainer finds a Field Research that rewards Mega Energy they should complete it as fast as possible.
How To Mega Evolve In Pokemon Go
In order to Mega Evolve, you first need to collect enough Mega Energy. Everything we know about Mega Energy is explained in our dedicated guide linked in the intro, so once you’ve read that and obtained some Mega Energy, come back here.
With your Mega Energy acquired, head to the respective Pokemon you want to Mega Evolve. Tap on the button beneath the “Power Up” option and voila! Your Mega Energy will be spent and you’ll have a Mega version of that Pokemon for a limited time.
Right now, Mega Evolutions are great for battling in raids, gyms, and against Team Rocket. You can also battle against friends with them in PvP, but you cannot enter the Go Battle League with them… yet. This might change in the future, with Mega Evolution-specific tournaments or leagues. Don’t forget to set a Mega Evolution as your buddy for some great photo opportunities too.
How Many Trainers Are Needed
Mega Beedrill can be defeated with two trainers, but if you cannot guarantee the top counters with maxed-out CP and the best moves, your best bet is to make sure you have three or more players.
Using the Circle Lock Technique to guarantee Great or Excellent throws, along with Golden Razz Berries, is the best way to catch Pokémon. However, I personally suggest trying Pinap Berries for the first few throws, as you can multiply the already increased number of Candies that an evolved Pokémon like this will yield.

How Mega Evolutions Work In Pokmon Go
Mega Evolutions are an additional, more powerful evolution that certain Pokémon – such as the original Kanto starters – can undertake.
To Mega Evolve a Pokémon in Pokémon Go, you need a resource named Mega Energy. Once a Pokémon has been Mega Evolved, it will stay in that form for a limited amount of time and can be used in a variety of battles.
You will be able to see how much time your Mega Evolution has remaining on its CP screen.
Once it has returned to its normal form, the Mega Energy you need to Mega Evolve it again later will be decreased.
This amount was further decreased on Thursday, 3rd September as Niantic performed a number of adjustments to the Mega Evolution system.
Other things you should know about Mega Evolutions:
- You can only Mega Evolve one Pokémon at a time. If you Mega Evolve a second Pokémon, the other one will return back to normal.
- Shadow Pokémon cannot undergo a Mega Evolution.
- Clone Pokémon cannot undergo a Mega Evolution.
- Mega Evolutions will be listed in your Pokédex under the ‘Mega Pokédex’. So that’s another thing to collect!
- There will be two new Medals added to the game – one for collecting Unique Mega Evolutions, the other for total Mega Evolutions.

Pokemon Go Mega Energy: How To Get It
Mega Energy can be obtained in three different ways. The easiest way is by doing Mega Raids. Mega Raids work similarly to normal five star raids. With your raid party, battle the Pokemon and you’ll be awarded with the opportunity to catch a non-mega version of the raid boss.
The faster you complete the raid the more energy you get, with the max amount at the time of publishing being 90 energy. These raids can be difficult and usually require at least four to five other players to help you complete them.
The second way to get Mega Energy is by completing tasks. Niantic occasionally releases specific special, timed, and field research tasks that will award you with a fixed amount of Mega Energy. This is a great free way to load up on Mega Energy without doing raids. The only downside is having to spin loads of Pokestops in your area to find tasks with the specific Mega Energy youre looking for.
The last way to get Mega Energy by walking the Pokemon you wish to Mega Evolve. Equip the Pokemon as your buddy and after walking a certain amount of kilometers, that Pokemon will yield you fifteen Mega Energy.
If the Pokemon is Mega Evolved while you walk it, you get twenty-five Energy. The amount of distance it takes to receive the Energy is different for every Pokemon, but is the same distance required for that Pokemon to receive a candy.

Perks Of Mega Evolution
Mega Evolution makes your Pokémon stronger, yes, but theres also a few other perks you get when you have and use a Mega Evolved Pokémon.
One perk includes bonus candy for that type of Pokémon. If you have a Mega Lopunny active, youll get bonus Buneary Candy when you catch Buneary or Lopunny.
When you raid with Mega Evolved Pokémon, they boost stats of your allies Pokémon, as well as give an additional type boost to Pokémon of the same type. For example, if you use a Mega Lopunny, normal- and fighting-type moves will get boosted.

What Is Mega Evolution
Mega Evolution is a battle mechanic introduced in the Gen VI games, Pokémon X and Pokémon Y. Closer to Dynamaxing than it is to Evolution, Mega Evolution allows a Pokémon to become much stronger for the remainder of a single battle. the resulting Mega Pokémon will look considerably different and sometimes even have a different typing. Only select species are capable of Mega Evolution and it requires a Mega Stone specific to the species of the Pokémon. For example, if you want Ampharos to Mega Evolve, you need Ampharosite, but Absol needs Absolite. On top of the Mega Stone, the Trainer also has to have a Key Stone which is kept in a Mega Ring, Mega Bracelet, Z-Ring, or Z-Power Ring.
How To Mega Evolve
Once youve obtained 200 Mega Energy for a specific Pokemon, then youll be ready to begin a Mega Evolution. Just tap on the Pokemon you want to evolve, then you should see the option to Mega Evolve your Pokemon right below the option to power them up. 200 Mega Energy is required for the first time and 40 is what you need for any time after.
The two exceptions are Mega Pidgeot and Mega Beedrill which only require 100 for the first evolution and 20 after that.
After eight hours or if you Mega evolve another Pokemon before eight hours, the first one will revert to its original form.

How Mega Evolutions Work
When you mega evolve a Pokémon, it becomes temporarily more powerful and gets a range of bonuses.
You can see which Pokémon can mega evolve by selecting them in your Pokémon storage.
If you see a Mega evolve button and Mega energy beside its candy indicator, you can mega evolve that Pokémon.
All Pokémon that can mega evolve are the final form of a Pokémon species. So while you can mega evolve Blastoise or Charizard, you cant do the same for Wartortle or Charmeleon.
For hardcore collectors, the main reason to get mega evolved Pokémon is that they appear permanently in your Mega Pokédex.
But, on the downside, your mega evolved Pokémon will only stay in its brawny new form for 8 hours. After that, it devolves into its original form.
To see how much time your mega evolution has left, look for the timer counting down on the right-hand side of the map screen.

How Mega Evolution Works In Pokemon Go
Niantic has done a bit of a press tour ahead of tomorrows update, so we have a good idea of the general gameplay loop for Mega Evolution. We dont have the specific numbers yet, but well all know once the new feature is live. In the meantime, what we do know is that Mega Evolution will be a temporary transformation, fueled by a collectible resource called Mega Energy.
While the datamine leak suggested it could be universal, Niantic has confirmed that Mega Energy will be Pokemon-specific. For example, when you go through the tutorial research quests tomorrow, youll receive Mega Energy for Beedrill, one of the four included in the initial roll out. Once you collect enough Mega Energy, youll be able to check out what Mega Beedrill is capable of. But you wont have to grind the same amount every time. After the initial Mega Evolution, which will be more demanding, the requirement for subsequent transformations will drop significantly. The main hurdle will be getting to the first time, and getting the Pokemon added to the Mega Evolution Pokedex.

Mega evolutions are a way to pimp your prize Pokémon and make fearsome fighters even stronger.
For some collectors, mega evolutions are frustrating as you cant keep the super-powered Pokémon youve worked so hard to get.
This is a bummer as mega evolved Pokémon often look cooler than the familiar creatures they evolve from.
But the rewards for having a mega evolved Pokémon guesting in your battle party are worth the grind, even if your new friend slopes off after a few hours.

Mega Evolution returns in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX, here achieved by eating an Awakening Seed. Mega Evolved Pokemon also have all of the bonuses granted by the Awakened status . The only additional bonuses Mega Evolution grants compared to the Awakened status is the potential to change a Pokémon’s type and ability.
Additionally, during Rayquaza‘s rematch or Mewtwo’s boss fight, both will Mega Evolve once their health drops below one half of their total. Mewtwo will always Mega Evolve into Mega Mewtwo X during its boss fight.
Mega Evolution Timer And Mega Energy
The Mega Evolution will be a temporary transformation of the Pokemons, and a field called Mega Time found in the mined data confirms the same. A time limit will be imposed upon Mega evolution, and will be displayed for the players to see.
Also, each Pokemon will have their own Mega Energy, and it is expected to be synced with the Mega Evolution timer. Once the Mega Energy is exhausted, the Pokemons will return to their normal form. The amount of Mega Energy required will reduce if you are best buddies with your Pokemon. You will also get Mega Energy from Mega Raids, and once you reach the maximum amount of Mega Energy you can collect, the rewards you receive will be reduced.

Pokemon Go: Missing Non
The Kanto starter Pokemon made up some of the first Pokemon in Pokemon GO to properly get the ability to use Mega Evolution in the game. Since then, there are still plenty of Pokemon from the Kanto region that have yet to gain their own ability to use Mega Evolution. These Pokemon are:
Mega Alakazam – Pure Psychic-type
Mega Pinsir – Dual Bug and Flying-type
Mega Aerodactyl – Dual Rock and Flying-type
Mega Slowbro – Dual Water and Psychic-type
Of these Pokemon, only Abra has already had a Community Day event, opening up all the rest of these Pokemon to getting a Community Day event that can also be used to introduce their Mega Evolutions. Out of all of them, Slowbro would be the most likely, due to it having a pre-evolved form and most Community Days focusing on Pokemon that have the ability to evolve.
There are still plenty of other possible future events that can serve at great chances to implement these forms. Kangaskhan’s usual regional-exclusive status makes it perfect to have its Mega Evolution introduced during some kind of global event, where its possible to catch Pokemon from different regional locations. The rest can fit with other events that could appear in Pokemon GO‘s future at some point.
Which Mega Evolutions Are Currently Available In Pokmon Go
While a number of Mega Evolutions have released in Pokémon Go, they are not all available at the same time. This means that, if you wish to complete your Mega Pokédex, you need to keep a close eye on exactly which Mega Pokémon are currently appearing in Mega Raids. If not, you risk having to wait for their reappearance.
Throughout the Season of Heritage, there will only be one Mega Evolution available in Mega Raids at one specific time. This makes it the perfect opportunity to focus on gathering candy for that evolution and adding new entries to your Mega Pokédex.
Currently, the Mega Evolution available in Mega Raids in Mega Steelix.

Mega Evolving is more expensive compared to regular evolves. Youll need to collect Mega Energies to perform Mega Evolves. Pokémon will only stay as Mega for eight hours, meaning you should perform the evolves right before when you need them.
If you have another Mega Evolved Pokémon, itll lose its buffs immediately after you evolve another one. Each Mega Evolved Pokémon will also be added to your Mega Pokédex.
The Mega Evolving process is similar to regular evolving. If you have enough Mega Energy for a Pokémon, navigate to your Pokédex and choose the version that youd like to Mega Evolve.
