Ditto is a Normal Pokemon. While you will get 3 candy for catching it as is standard, there is no evolved form. You can power it up though as with other Pokemon with a combination of candy and Stardust. If you want to walk with Ditto as your buddy, it will earn a candy for every 3km achieved.

What Are The Odds Of Finding A Shiny Pokmon In Pokmon Go
Currently, most estimate Shiny encounters outside of events at 1/400, but during events the chances are much higher, sometimes even as high as 1/20. Even outside of events, however, this is a dramatic increase from the 1/4096 base rate in core games, or 1/512 using both the Masuda Method and a Shiny Charm.
That having been said, It’s still random, so you can get a Shiny right away, or it might take you two or even three times as long as someone else. Your best bet to finding Shiny Pokémon is to tap on every single Pokémon that spawns.
List Of Shiny Pokmon With Limited
Some Pokémon can only be obtained in their Shiny form for a limited time, after which they cannot be obtained again until either a new event occurs or they are made permanently available.
- Mew can currently only be obtained in its Shiny form as the final reward for the Special Research All-in-One #151, which required a purchase from Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto.
- Smeargle was only available during the New Pokémon Snap Celebration.
- Meltan, and by extension Melmetal, can only be obtained in its Shiny form during limited time periods. See Meltan article for time periods details.
All Shiny Shadow/Purified Pokémon falls in this category, as they can only be obtained as the reward from defeating a Team GO Rocket Leader or Jessie and James and the Leaders’ teams change every few months , making obtaining that particular form unobtainable for the time being.
Most Costume Pokémon are in this category as well due to being available only during certain time-limited events
- There is one exception: the Libre Pikachu, which is a Rank 24 reward in the Go Battle League.

If You Catch A Shiny Pokmon Can It Turn Into A Shiny Ditto In Pokmon Go
No. Magikarp was removed from the Ditto potentials shortly after Shiny Magikarp became available, and the same has held true for other common Pokémon since. However, on February 20, 2021, the Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto event will unlock the remaining Gen 1 Shiny Pokémon, including Ditto. It is unclear if this means that Pokémon with the potential to be Shiny will be able to be Ditto or if Niantic will handle Shiny Ditto differently than other Shiny Pokémon.

Do Shiny Pokmon Perform Differently In Pokmon Go
Nope. Shiny Pokémon have the same stats as non-Shiny variants. Which is to say, a range. You can catch a perfect Shiny Magikarp, but you can also catch a not-so-great one. They also have no special movesets or powers of any kind. Aside from looking different, they’re exactly the same.
However, Community Day is the easiest time to catch Shiny Pokémon. If evolved during the event window, Shiny Pokémon will get the exclusive move just like the normal featured Pokémon, so a lot of Shiny Pokémon do have that exclusive move.
The Rarest Shiny Pokmon
Even if theyre a common wild spawn on a Community Day, everyone loves a shiny Pokémon. But identifying the rarest shinies is pretty easy.
The rarest shiny Pokémon are those wearing hats, costumes, holiday trinkets or flower crowns.
This is because the Pokémon were only available for a short period of time and, in some cases, theyll never appear again and your chances of getting one are limited to trades.

Pokémon GOs Season of Mischief has kicked off, and already it has introduced a shiny. Shiny Ditto was formerly only available through one Special Research, but now can appear in the wild and as your Research Breakthrough encounter. Make sure youre up to date with the new Ditto disguises in Pokémon GO so you dont miss the chance of grabbing the transforming blob.

No. While all Pokémon show up on Nearby or Sightings, they look normal just like they look on the map.
It’s only revealed as a Shiny when you tap on it and go to the catch screen. So, if you see a normal Magikarp or Pikachu on Nearby or Sightings, don’t discount it once you tap on it, it could be a Shiny. And that list of possible Shiny Pokémon gets longer all the time, so make sure to Shiny check them all!

How Do I Find A Shiny Pokemon
Thats the million dollar question. At the moment, there doesnt appear to be any rhyme or reason to the appearance of Shiny Pokemon . You just have to get lucky. It is worth noting that Shiny Pokemon do not appear Shiny on the map. You can only tell if a Pokemon is a Shiny Pokemon by tapping on it and beginning an encounter. Furthermore, just because a Pokemon is a Shiny Pokemon in your game doesnt mean it will be for anyone else. So you might tap on the same Shiny Magikarp that your friend tapped on, but theres no guarantee itll still be shiny in your game.

Unlike Shiny Pokémon in the past however, the Shiny Pokémon found in these games have an added bonus: their Belly stat starts at 200 as opposed to the 100 of normal Pokémon. Shiny hunting is a different beast in Pokemon GO compared to the main series games. While searching for shiny Pokemon on a console can take much time and effort, it requires much walking on top of that in Pokemon GO.
Trainers also have to be very aware of what events are occurring and at what times. Things like Spotlight Hours only offer 60 min to look for shinies. If any trainers have these five Pokemon, they are indeed quite fortunate.

Finding A Shiny Ditto In The Wild
One of the biggest changes in the Season of Mischief, which kicked off at the start of September 2021, is that Shiny Ditto will no longer be exclusive to the ticketed Pokemon Go Tour: Kanto Special Research.
This means all Trainers now have the chance to catch a Shiny Ditto in the wild. Doing this wont be easy, though, as Ditto takes on various disguises on the overworld. Check out our Ditto guide for the latest tips.
Its worth pointing out that this is the least likely way youll find a Shiny Ditto, though, and the following two methods will give you a greater chance of encountering one.
Ok Fine Just Tell Me How To Catch ’em All
First, you have to find as many Pokémon as you can. That means finding spawns or nests where those types of Pokémon are common. Then tap, tap, tap away and see if you encounter a Shiny.
For eggs and babies, collect as many as you can. Walk as much as you can. And hatch, hatch, hatch.
For the Raid Pokémon, the story is the same. Find the Raids. Beat the Raid Boss. Hope the one you get is Shiny.
Field Research. Find the tasks that give you a Pokémon with a Shiny form, then work with your community to find the PokéStops giving away the right tasks, and then complete as many as you can.

Dont Skip Out On Encounters
Youll need to get into an encounter with a Pokémon to see if theyre shiny or not. Even if you arent planning to catch that Pokémon, you should still get into an encounter and check.
You can still capture them for sport and additional candy. If you cant tell whether a Pokémon is shiny by their looks, keep an eye on a little white symbol that appears right above their CP. This symbol featuring three stars indicates that a Pokémon is indeed shiny, and you may want to switch to a better Pokéball to make sure you dont miss your chance.
Pokmon Go Ditto Disguises September 2021
Ditto has numerous disguises it uses. As touched upon, you cant see Ditto in Pokémon GO. At least not on the world map or the finder. Its far too sneaky. During September, Ditto will also be available as a Field Research Breakthrough reward and it can be shiny, too!
Instead, youll need to target specific Pokémon who Ditto is disguised as in the game. Then youll need to cross your fingers that once youve caught said Pokémon, that it transforms into Ditto after the catch screen.
The current list of Pokémon that Ditto is disguised as can be found below:

- Teddiursa
Youll notice that some of these Pokémon can be shiny. Shiny Ditto is also available. But it doesnt work quite like that. If you find a shiny version of any of these Pokémon, it will not transform into a Ditto . However, regularly coloured versions of these Pokémon can transform into Ditto and it could be shiny, even though the Pokémon you encounter is not!
The list of Ditto Disguises is always changing, especially when Pokémon get a shiny version in Pokémon GO. New events always have the chance to add a new Ditto disguise to look out for, so its important to check the disguise list regularly. For instance, we presume Whismur has been removed from the Ditto pool due to the release of its shiny version during Pokémon GO Fest 2021.
Be prepared to be disappointed quite a few times, but this is the best way to ensure you maximise your chances.
