How to Transfer From Pokemon GO to Pokemon Home

Though not officially supported by Pokémon Bank or Pokémon Home, it is possible to get creatures from the other games in the series, such as Ruby and Sapphire or Diamond and Pearl, over to modern games.

The following games require a much more convoluted process to transfer Pokémon to either the Pokémon Bank and beyond. Again, note that all of these are one-way transfers only – meaning you cannot get these Pokémon back onto their original games once transferred.

Here’s what’s supported from older generations:

  • Gen 1: Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow – not possible
  • Gen 2: Pokémon Gold, Silver, Crystal – not possible
  • Gen 3: Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, FireRed, LeafGreen – transfer to Gen 4 by inserting the Gen 3 into a DS, then using the Pal Park feature. See the Gen 4 step below to continue.
  • Gen 4: Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold and SoulSilver – transfer to Gen 5 by connecting two DS or 3DS systems together using the Transfer Station. You can now use the Poké Transporter to transfer to Pokémon Bank.

Here’s a YouTube video by YellowSuperNintendo with a step-by-step of this process:

Tips And Tricks For Playing Pokmon Go At Home

While the above changes from Niantic do certainly make Pokémon Go much easier to play at home, there are few other tips and tricks you can do to make playing Pokémon Go from your home a little easier.

If you are in a lockdown that allows for daily exercise, and there are gyms and Pokéstops within walking distance of your home, wed recommend planning a walking or cycling route that incorporates them – but only if you are able to safely.

Pokémon Go also has many incredible online communities, including many local groups. Its definitely worth checking them out. You can add them all as friends, battle them and send each other gifts to keep your stock of Pokéballs and eggs up during the lockdown. Plus when all this has blown over you have a new community of friends to meet!

And thats it! Enjoy playing Pokémon Go from home and stay safe!

How Much Does It Cost To Transfer Pokmon

This is how much Transporter energy it costs to transfer a Pokémon:

Standard Pokémon

CP 2001+ +700

If a Pokémon would cost more than the maximum 10,000 energy to transfer for instance, a shiny CP 2400 mythical Pokémon it counts as using all of your energy but may still be transferred.

Energy takes time to recharge , or you can immediately charge it with PokéCoins. This costs a Coin per ten energy and your maximum energy is 10,000. So it will cost 1,000 PokéCoins to fully recharge your Transporter.

A huge thanks to Serebii for testing the energy information in the tables so quickly and accurately.

How To Send Pokmon From Pokmon Go

Now we get to the interesting part. We have our account linked and we have our Pokémon in mind for the transfer. All ready then? Lets take action. Of course, try to make sure that your Pokémon HOME boxes are not full .

For each Pokémon you send with the GO Transporter, you will spend GO Transporter Energy. The GO Transporter is a new artifact that will be available the minute we link the Pokémon GO and Pokémon Home accounts, and with which we will do all the magic of transferring Pokémon.

We start with 10,000 energy for the GO Transporter, and it is spent as we transfer Pokémon. The GO Transporter recovers 60 energy for every hour that passes, so if you have used up all the energy, it will fill up completely again in 7 days after you transfer Pokémon. Some Pokémon cost more energy than others, so here is a table so you can see how much energy each Pokémon consumes.

Wonder Box In Pokemon Home

Pokémon Home

Now to talk about the mobile side of Pokemon Home. Where the Switch app is all about storing and sorting Pokemon, the mobile app is about trading Pokemon.

There are four different ways to trade Pokemon in Pokemon Home, but the most useful of which is Wonder Box trading. Wonder Box trading is similar to Wonder Trading on the 3DS or Surprise Trading in Pokemon Sword and Shield. Except instead of just one Pokemon, people who use the free app can only trade up to 3 Pokemon at a time, and people who pay for the premium service can trade up to 10 at a time.

The only downfall is that Wonder Box trading is not instantaneous, and in fact it can take several hours for a trade to be completed. While it is a neat way for trainers to collect a variety of Pokemon, it is still faster to Surprise Trade Pokemon than it is to wait for a Wonder Box to be traded.

How To Transfer From Pokemon Go To Pokemon Home

In November 2020, Pokemon Go added the ability to directly transfer Pokemon from the mobile game to Home. To begin the process, you’ll first need to connect Pokemon Go to the same Nintendo Account you have linked to Pokemon Home. Fire up the game and tap on the Poke Ball icon at the bottom of the screen to open the menu. From there, tap on Settings in the upper right-hand corner, then scroll down and select Pokemon Home. You’ll be prompted to sign in with your Nintendo Account.

Once you’ve connected Pokemon Go to your Pokemon Home account, you can starting moving Pokemon to the service. Tap on Send Pokemon from the Pokemon Home section in Settings and you’ll be taken to the Go Transporter. Select the monsters you’d like to transfer and tap Transport to move them. After that, open Pokemon Home on your mobile device, tap on the menu button on the bottom of the screen, and select Options. Scroll down until you see Pokemon Go Link, then tap Receive to complete the transfer process.

Beyond direct transfers, there is a roundabout method for bringing certain Pokemon over from the mobile game. If you have a copy of Let’s Go Pikachu or Eevee, you are able to transfer any Gen 1 Pokemon that you’ve caught in Pokemon Go to those titles through the Go Park, a facility located in Fuchsia City.

How Are Ivs Natures Abilities And Movesets Generated For Pokmon Transferred From Pokmon Go To Pokmon Home

Most of the information will be decided by math or randomized factors.

Game Freak once again needed to find a way to make Pokémon from a game missing key elements fit into the main series of Pokémon titles as players can now transfer their teams from Pokémon Go into Pokémon HOME.

Much like with the Virtual Console versions of Pokémon Red, Blue, Yellow, Silver, Gold, and Crystal the Pokémon in Pokémon Go dont have all of the same data as those in games released on the Game Boy Advance and beyond. They are missing things like updated IVs, Natures, Abilities, and more, which are necessary to bring them over into HOME.

When you transfer a Pokémon from Go to HOME, you wont need to do anything as the app will calculate the additional information needed and add it to each transferred Pokémon. This means it will have the necessary stats, a Nature and Ability, along with a moveset that matches its main series learnset depending on a few factors.

Here are all of the details you need to know about how your Pokémon will look when it finishes transferring from Go to HOME.

IV Calculation

Just like with Lets Go!, you will see every Pokémon get their IVs calculated through simple math.

Nature and Ability

The Nature of every transferred Pokémon from Go will be completely randomized. Abilities will also be random between the two standard abilities each Pokémon has access to.

Dont Forget The Select Functions

Another function in the PC that shouldnt be overlooked is the multiselect feature. By pressing Y twice, youll notice that your selection arrow turns green from the normal red. This allows you to mass-select Pokemon and move them all at once.

When trying to move around multiple Pokemon at once, this is a complete lifesaver. If youre interested in saving time while moving one Pokemon at a time, the second option in the rotation, with the blue arrow, will select a Pokemon instantly, rather than the red normal option which you have to click twice to pick up a Pokemon.

What Happens To My Pokmon If My Pokmon Home Subscription Plan Expires

Transferir Pokémon a Pokémon HOME

As explained by Pokémon HOME support, you’ll continue to have access to the Pokémon in your Basic Box, although all others will be inaccessible until you purchase another plan. Happily, it seems there is no limit to how long your Pokémon will remain ‘frozen’ on the servers, as opposed to the previous storage solution on 3DS, Pokémon Bank.

Good news if you forget to renew your subscription plan, although we’d still exercise caution if your Pokémon are particularly dear to you.

Can I Use Pokmon Home To Transfer My Original Gen 1 And 2 Pokmon From Pokmon Red / Blue / Yellow / Gold / Silver / Crystal On Game Boy To Pokmon Sword And Shield

Unfortunately, no. The Pokémon you first caught two decades ago are forever trapped on those original Game Boy cartridges or on Pokémon Stadium. Of course, using various shady tactics and compromised hardware, enterprising Poké Trainers have been known to dump their original saves from the Game Boy carts, upload them to the 3DS Virtual Console versions of Pokémon Red and Blue, and then move those to Pokémon Bank, but we shall not delve into those dark arts here.

No, it seems that ‘Stinkypoo’ the Pikachu, ‘Wormy’ the Weedle and ‘Metapoo’ the Metapod will die on our Game Boy carts along with the battery. Probably for the best, to be honest.

How Do I Transfer Pokmon From Pokmon Sword And Shield To Pokmon Home

To begin using the service for storage, simply download the app on Switch, agree to the various terms and conditions and get acquainted with Grand Oak.

From the main menu you can immediately select your copy of Pokémon Sword or Shield and begin transferring Pokémon between Boxes.

You’ll find a gift Pikachu waiting for you in your Pokémon HOME box. Once connected, you’ll be able to transfer compatible Pokémon between the game and the app at will, using standard buttons in docked mode or dragging and dropping via the touchscreen in handheld mode to easily sort your Pokémon. Pressing the ‘-‘ button at any time will call up Poké Boy who will offer tips and explanations.

Hitting the ‘+’ button will enable you to save the changes to your boxes and return to the main menu. Pokémon HOME will list your Pokémon according to their National Pokédex number with the option to separate out each region. If a Pokémon has Mega Evolve or Gigantamax forms, they too will be shown.

Note: You’ll have to actually transfer the Pokémon to Pokémon HOME for it to register in the Pokédex – Pokémon contained in boxes in-game won’t be registered.

The Mobile version of the app displays even more information such as their abilities and the moves they can learn.

Upload Your 3ds / Ds Collection To Pokmon Bank

If you have a pokédex stored on games made for the Nintendo DS or 3DS systems, you cant jump straight to uploading on Pokémon Home. Youll first need to route your collection through Pokémon Bank, an older cloud-based service.

Your first step should be to open the eShop app and download Pokémon Bank. Depending on the game from which youre trying to transfer pocket monsters, you might also need to download Poké Transporter, which is accessible from within the Bank app on 3DS.

As for why certain games require a separate app, it likely comes down to newer games being built with the ability to interface directly with Pokémon Bank, while the others need the Poké Transporter to handle the data transfer for them. The technical details are less important than the fact that these apps do what they claim to: help you get your pokémon to the Bank, making them visible to Pokémon Home.

  • Games that interface directly with Pokémon Bank: Pokémon Ultra Sun, Ultra Moon, Sun, Moon, X, Y, Omega Ruby, Alpha Sapphire
  • Games that require Poké Transporter to transfer to Bank: Virtual Console releases of Pokémon Blue, Red, Yellow, Gold, Silver, and Pokémon White, Black, White 2, and Black 2.

To see exactly how to get your pokémon into the Bank, take a deep breath, then look at this not-at-all-confusing flow chart made by The Pokémon Company.

The boxes are color-coded to indicate which games work with Bank and Transporter .

Pokemon Go Is Now Compatible With Pokemon Home But The Restrictions Are Kind Of Ridiculous

How To Transfer Pokémon From Pokémon GO to Home!

Pump the brakes on transferring that Shiny Groudon to Pokemon Sword and Shield.

Opinionby Kat Bailey, Editor in Chief

11 November 2020

As of today, Pokemon Go is now compatible with Pokemon Home. This is exciting news for Pokemon fans, because it greatly expands the number of monsters that can be transferred from Niantic’s popular mobile game to Pokemon Sword and Shield. It wouldn’t be Pokemon if there weren’t a lot of hoops to jump through, though, and Pokemon Go throws up quite a few barriers to getting your beloved Shiny Groudon over to the Nintendo Switch.

Niantic

As of right now, if you want to complete a transfer from Pokemon Go to Pokemon Home, you need to fit the following requirements:

  • You have to be Level 40 in Pokemon Go
  • The “Go Transporter” item must have a sufficient amount of energy
  • You must have already caught the Pokemon in Pokemon Sword and Shield, so you can’t use Pokemon Go to fill your Pokedex
  • Mega Evolutions, Shadow Pokemon, and unique costumes can’t be transferred

Those are some pretty onerous restrictions, making it effectively impossible to transfer your entire collection over to Pokemon Sword and Shield in one go. Indeed, as someone currently trapped at Level 32 in Pokemon Go, I’ve yet to be able to access the feature at all. Alas, poor Shiny Dragonite, you appear to be doomed to remain trapped in the purgatory of Alameda, California.
