New Pokmon Trading Card Game: Sword & Shieldbrilliant Stars Expansion To Feature Pokmon Vstar Gameplay Mechanic

Today, The Pokémon Company International unveiled the new Pokémon VSTAR gameplay mechanic for the best-selling Pokémon Trading Card Game. Pokémon VSTAR will appear in the upcoming Pokémon TCG: Sword & ShieldBrilliant Stars expansion, arriving at participating retailers worldwide on February 25, 2022.

Pokémon VSTAR evolve from Pokémon V and will play a major role in the Pokémon TCG metagame. Each Pokémon VSTAR has a VSTAR Power an Ability or attack with an extremely powerful effect that can decide the outcome of a battle. Players can use only one VSTAR Power per game, and those who use a VSTAR Power must flip over a VSTAR marker during the battle.

In addition to their VSTAR Powers, Pokémon VSTAR have high HP and high-damage attacks, and they give up two Prize cards when Knocked Out.

Trainers can look forward to seeing Arceus VSTAR, Charizard VSTAR, Shaymin VSTAR and Whimsicott VSTAR in Sword & ShieldBrilliant Stars. The expansion will also include a special Trainer Gallery subset of 30 cards with artwork featuring fan-favorite Trainers and Pokémon.

Available in booster packs, Elite Trainer Boxes and special collections, Sword & ShieldBrilliant Stars will include the following:

• 20 Pokémon V and 15 full-art Pokémon V
• Four new Pokémon VSTAR
• 22 Trainer cards and six full-art Supporter cards
• One new Special Energy card

Back to the XY series, and to the Generations set that was released to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Pokemon.

Unlike most sets, it wasnt possible to buy booster boxes for Generations. Instead, booster packs were included as part of an Elite Trainer Box or Collector Boxes which featured a particular Pokemon.

The 83 card set, also included an additional subset of 32 cards called the Radiant Collection.

In my opinion, the combination of popular Gen 1 Pokemon, beautifully designed full art cards and more limited acquisition of booster packs , make Generations a sleeping giant in terms of value.

After carefully removing the plastic shrink wrap covering, the outer sleeve can be slid off to reveal a Players Guide and an inner box.

The inner box holds the main contents of the box and is designed to function as a card holder once the products inside have been removed.

The images of the contents shown here are of the Shadow Rider Calyrex Box.

The contents of both boxes are the same but the inner box, card sleeves and card dividers have images of the character featured on the outside of the box.

Chilling Reign Elite Trainer Box

Release Date: June 18, 2021

Chilling Reign Elite Trainer Boxes come with one of two artworks: Ice Rider Calyrex or Shadow Rider Calyrex. In addition to the standard ETBs, the Pokemon Center also released exclusive versions of each package artwork.

Being part of a main set, the standard Elite Trainer Boxes come with 8 packs, whereas the Pokemon Center boxes were supposed to come with 10 plus a few extra accessories exclusive to the Pokemon Center Elite Trainer Boxes.

However, there was an error when packaging these and only 8 Chilling Reign booster packs were included. To compensate collectors for this, the Pokemon Center sent out error blister packs containing two Chilling Reign booster packs, a coin, a Galarian Articuno V, a Galarian Moltres V, and a Galarian Zapdos V.

The Chilling Reign expansion offers a ton of new cards and features for Pokémon TCG players to enjoy. You can find out even more in our Booster Box unboxing and pack opening video. The Elite Trainer Box is a solid way to jump right in, if you need some of the more basic elements of the Trading Card Game. Most players by now will have the rules handy, and dont need card sleaves, dice, or condition markers. However, if this is your first foray into the world of the Pokémon Trading Card Game and you enjoyed the aesthetics and characters of The Crown Tundra DLC for Sword and Shield then this is pretty perfect.

Pokmon Tcg Shining Fates Product Review: Elite Trainer Box

Shining Fates is setting the Pokémon TCG fandom on fire. This highly anticipated set is the sequel to the smash hit Hidden Fates, and features a standard set of 72 cards and a subset of over 100 Shiny Pokémon. The product line features an Elite Trainer Box, tins, boxes pretty much the same treatment that Hidden Fates got. Shining Fates products will begin to release tomorrow, February 19th, but the Pokémon Company International was nice enough to send me some of this set’s products in exchange for fair reviews. Pokemon Celebrations is a special set released for the Pokemon 25th Anniversary. It includes 50 cards, split into two sub-sets. The first 25 cards are brand new cards, all holographic and featuring rare and legendary Pokemon.
