Pokmon Gold Silver And Crystal
- Generation: 2nd
- Platform: Game Boy Color
- Release Date: October 15, 2000 July 29, 2001
You can only produce so much content based around 150 Pokémon. Nintendo realized they needed to up the ante. So in October of 2000, they released Pokémon Gold & Silver to the North American region. These titles introduce 100 new Pokémon to the franchise, as well as several new Pokémon types, like Steel and Dark. Other significant changes include new battle moves, new items, an internal clock system, and more.
Following the business model set by the first generation of games, Nintendo released an adaptation of Pokémon Gold & Silver in July of 2001. This title, Pokémon Crystal, featured enhanced graphics and animations.
At this point, weve listed all the Pokémon Gameboy games in order. And while these three newer titles are stylistically similar to the first generation of Pokémon games, they take things to an entirely new level. As such, Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal are frequently cited as some of the best RPGs ever made.

What Other Games Have Pokemon Characters Been In
One of the most popular games from the Pokemon franchise is Pokemon GO, initially released in 2016.
The free mobile game uses GPS to locate and capture Pokemon, which appear as if in the real world.
Pokemon Snap is another fun one – a first-person photography game, based on a 1999 Nintendo 64 original.
Some of the Pokemon characters also appear in Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros, a crossover fighting game series featuring characters from various Nintendo universes.
Pokemon Heartgold & Soulsilver
Pokemon HeartGold & SoulSilver have some especially strange traits. While being mostly identical to the original Pokemon Gold & Silver, several bits make them far easier. Some of this has to do with Special and Physical moves being divided, which makes many of the weakest Pokemon far stronger.
However, it ends up being substantially easier due to its status as a fourth-generation game, as it doesn’t prevent you from evolving certain Pokemon like Gligar and Aipon into their new evolutions. This can lead to some absurdly powerful Pokemon that you aren’t expected to have, and it ends up being a much simpler experience as a result.

Pokmon Red And Blue English
After the first game was a big hit in Japan, an English version was finally made available in 1998 with the Red and Blue version. These were played on the original Game Boy and had everything a Pokémon fan 20 years ago could dream of. Like the original games from Japan, Pokémon Red and Blue took place in the Kanto region with the original 151 Pokémon available for the Pokédex.
The starters to choose from were again Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur as players would fight through the Kanto-region gym trainers. After collecting all gym badges, players could take on the Pokémon League and become the champion.
How To Watch Pokmon Without Fillers
One of the things all anime shows have is filler episodes, which are not necessarily important to the storyline. If you want to cut down the time you spend watching Pokémon, you can definitely skip the following episodes:
- Indigo League
- 8-9, 19, 32-33, 37-39, 44, 46, 49, 51, 54, 57, 59, 62, 64-67, 69-70

Pokemon Gold & Silver Crystal Heartgold & Soulsilver Diamond & Pearl And Platinum
Placing the Johto stories on the timeline is pretty easy, because the games have a ton of references to the events that take place in Kanto. Team Rocket is trying to recover from past events, Lance is now the Champion of Kanto, and Giovanni disappeared three years ago. Additionally, Koga has advanced to Elite Four status and left his gym helm to his daughter, Janine.
So it is not only easy to place the Johto stories in the timeline, but fans know exactly how long it has been since the Kanto story. If Giovanni has disappeared for three years, it is likely that these games take place three years after the Kanto adventures.
As for Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum, knowing those take place around the same time as the Johto stories is basically totally due to Matsumiya’s tweet.
Pokmon Black And White / Black 2 And White 2
- Generation: 5th
- Platform: Nintendo DS
- Release Date: March 6, 2011 October 7, 2012
Tired of looking at the same ol Pokémon? Never fearow. Pokémon Black and White released 156 new monsters into the mix!
Thats a lot of catching to do! Not only that, but this generation introduced several distinct mechanics, including innovative battle styles and online networking areas. It was also the first time an entirely new set of games came out mid-generation.
Black 2 & White 2 dropped less than a year and a half after the first two games. They feature the same Unova region and impressive pool of monsters. Naturally, the games received critical acclaim from casual players and critics alike.

Compatibility With Other Systems
An accessory for the , known as the , was released in 2003 as the successor to the peripheral for the . The accessory allows Game Boy Advance games, as well as Game Boy and Game Boy Color games, to be played on the GameCube. However, some games may have compatibility issues due to certain features requiring extra hardware. For example, games with built-in motion sensors would require players to manipulate the console itself.
The GBA is the last of the three Nintendo handheld systems to bear the Game Boy name, games developed for it are incompatible with older Game Boy systems, and each game’s box carries a label indicating that the game is “not compatible with other Game Boy systems”. However, games designed for older Game Boy systems are conversely compatible with the Game Boy Advance, with options to play such games on either their standard or a stretched fullscreen.
Game Boy Advance games are compatible with models that support them with a dedicated GBA cartridge slot beneath the touch screen, , although they do not support multiplayer or features involving the use of GBA accessories because they do not have the GBA’s external peripheral port that these features require to function. The and do not have backward compatibility with the GBA and a few DS games that use the GBA slot.
Nintendo released various addons for the Game Boy Advance, which include:

Release: November 17, 2017
Platforms: Nintendo 3DS
The main emphasis of these versions is the legendary Pokémon known as Necrozma. The setting includes new locations and structures.
Why players should play this game
Some great features of this game include:

Pokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu & Let’s Go Eevee
This revisit to Kanto on the Nintendo Switch makes a lot of changes to the usual Pokemon formula. Wild battles are a thing of the past and the games have rarely been this accessible to the youngest of the young.
With all that said, the games are sorely lacking in difficulty. Not only do they hand you an extra-powerful Pikachu or Eevee as your starter, but you can even teach them powerful moves of any type you want by visiting a few NPCs in Pokemon Centers. It’s totally viable to play the entire game with one Pokemon and it almost seems to encourage it.

Pokemon Sun & Moon And Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon
While Matsumiya’s tweet ended at X & Y, there was a ton of evidence within the Sun & Moon games of where they stood in the Pokemon timeline. Since Mega Evolution still exists, it is not far-fetched to believe they take place in the same universe as the Generation VI games. These games also have a ton of characters from previous games. Red and Blue are two of them, and they have aged a lot since their Kanto adventure.
There are much deeper cuts into the timeline though. There is a popular theory for the character Anabel. She actually appears in the Battle Frontier in Emerald. Within Sun and Moon though, it is said she was discovered unconscious on a beach with memory loss. Due to this, many fans believe she accidentally traveled to the Mega timeline from the original one.
The multiverse theory is even stronger in Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, where Giovanni assembles a team of villainous team leaders, who have come from other universes where the player character did not stop them from succeeding with their evil plans.
Release Date: Early 2022
Last but not least of the games announced earlier this year is Pokémon Legends: Arceus. It serves as a prequel to Pokémon Diamond & Pearl and in turn the Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl games. It is expected to be out around a year from now.
While it will honor the core gameplay of the games that have become for it, Pokémon Legends: Arceus makes history because it is the first action-RPG in the main series and Game Freaks first attempt at that sub-genre of games.
The reveal trailer saw many fans comparing the environment, gameplay, and general cinematic style to that of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The game is set to feature an open-world setting that is an extension of the Wild Area that was introduced in Pokémon Sword & Shield . Though it hasnt been confirmed, its speculated that the objective of the game will be to create Sinnohs first Pokédex.

Pokemon Black 2 & White 2
Black 2 & White 2 are easy to place in the timeline, as they are similar to the Johto stories as direct sequels to their predecessors. It is known within the game that they take place two years after the original Black & White games.
It is basically a continuation of Black & White’s story. According to Matsumiya’s tweet, Black 2 & White 2 take place around the same time as X & Y. However, X and Y is believed to be in a different timeline, which is called the “Mega Timeline” by the Pokemon fandom.

Pokmon Black 2 & White 2
- Length of story: 35 hours.
- Time to 100% completion:: 190 hours.
It is generally agreed that Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, along with Black 2 & White 2, are two of the most excellent and outstanding pairings of the two-dimensional Pokémon era. In fact, these titles released in 2012 for Nintendo DS were the last, the farewell to the 2D era. And what a farewell. Not only did we have a larger and more extensive Unova, but we were able to learn what happened two years after the events narrated in Black and White. In these titles, finishing the Pokémon League was just the beginning. It is a tribute to all five generations, thus closing an impeccable circle that allowed us for the first time in history to participate in the Pokémon World Tournament, a sort of tournament with leaders from all generations. The capture of legendaries such as Larios or Latias, Heatran, Cresselia, the three Regis plus Regigigas, Kyurem and the original challenges of the five regions of the World Tournament were a lot of fun. Added to this was an online mode that had, at last, a gigantic community. It was here that competitive gaming experienced its first golden age, with a much-loved meta. To top it all off, being a fifth-generation game, the National Pokédex was a major challenge, having to capture 649 Pokémon. A masterful title in which one could tell Game Freak was very comfortable.
