Weve just had the Duskull Community Day and are now facing the next rotation in the GO Battle League and the next Spotlight Hour.

Stepping into the spotlight for todays event is a Pokemon thats very well known, Gastly.

But can you get a Shiny Gastly in tonights Spotlight Hour and if you can, what are the odds and what are you looking out for? Lets take a look.

Community Day And Covid

Niantic has altered Community Day events to be more suited to the pandemic allowing them to be fully enjoyed while at home. Pokemon Go July Community Date Date Time And Bonuses

When actually is the Pokemon Go Community Day this month? The Gastly Community Day will take place on Sunday, July 19 from 11am to 5pm local time. This is when shiny Gastly will flood the streets and parks. As always in this current pandemic, make sure you stay safe and play from home if you have to. The extra measures to ensure Pokemon Go is playable from home are still in effect, so pop a lure and get catching!

During the six-hour Community Day, you’ll also be able to purchase a July Community Day Box with 30 Ultra Balls, an Elite Fast TM, two Incense, and two Super Incubators. Perfect if you’re running low on items going into the event.

For $1 , there’s also a Community Day-exclusive special research story called The Great Gastly. This will net you some extra rewards as Professor Willow investigates some spooky happenings.

On top of all of that, eggs will hatch in a quarter of the distance, and Incense will last for three hours. And if you take some snapshots during the event, you’ll find a spooky surprise.

The next Pokemon Go Community Day event takes on Sunday, July 19 and this time out the featured Pokemon will be Gastly.

Gastly, the Ghost/Poison-type Pokemon, is your next Community Day creature in Pokemon Go. If youre lucky, you might even encounter a Shiny Gastly.

During the July 19 Community Day, Gastly will be appearing more frequently in the wild. If you evolve it into Haunter during the event or up to two hours afterward, you will earn a Gengar that knows Shadow Punch.

Bonuses for the event feature eggs requiring 1/4 Hatch Distance when placed in Incubators, and incense activated will last for three hours.

Take a few snapshots during Community Day and you will also get a surprise.

There will also be a special, one-time-purchase July Community Day Box, and it comes with 30 Ultra Balls, an Elite Fast TM, two Incense, and two Super Incubators.

Trainers in Pokemon Go can vote for a certain Pokemon for the upcoming Community Day’s for June and July. Here’s how players can vote for their favorite. Pokemon Go is one of the titles heavily affected by COVID-19. The game prides itself on requiring that players go outdoors to capture Pokemon in the real world, but due to government officials closing businesses and hoping their residents follow the rules, Pokemon Go has the need to adopt new rules to keep playing. Small changes were introduced to keep players interested in the game, including the ability to play from home by lowering the price of certain items, expanding the range the player can interact with gyms and Pokemon Stops, and creating new items that permit players to participate in Raid Battles. Community Day’s are massive monthly events in the world of Pokemon Go that gives its players the chance to capture specific Pokemon. For the first time since February of 2020, players can vote for which Pokemon they would like for the upcoming months of June and July. Niantic has laid out four different Pokemon to choose from. Pokemon Go Shiny Gastly Family

Pictured above is the full shiny Gastly family, including Haunter and Gengar. As you can see, Gastly has a slightly more purple hue, while Haunter has a blue tongue instead of the usual pink. Meanwhile Gengar is somewhat disappointing… there’s only a slight change in Gengar’s appearance, going to a slightly more washed out purple.

Increased Odds Of Encountering A Shiny Version Of The Featured Pokmon

Driving fans mad with anticipation and frustration in equal measure, the featured Pokémon is a lot more likely to be shiny when it spawns during Community Day. In the wider context of the Pokémon series, GO actually presents one of the most time-efficient and least tedious ways of catching Shiny Pokémon. Lucky players can net several shiny versions during the event but theres always the chance that youll come away empty handed.

One key piece of advice for newcomers Shiny Pokémon do not appear Shiny on the Pokémon GO map. You have to tap on them and enter catching mode to see if they are shiny or not.

Gastly Spotlight Hour Pokemon Go

Spotlight events occur every Tuesday. It only lasts for one hour, so you need to be quick. Every event starts at 6 pm in your local time finishing at 7 pm. In addition to increased spawn rates for Gastly, you can also claim 2 x Catch Stardust if you play during this time. Next week will be the turn of the Pokemon Gothita.

Pokemon Go Community Day Voting For June And July

The four Pokemon available for voting are Gastly, Weedle, Squirtle, and Sandscrew. All Pokemon from the first generation of games are available for voting. Players can vote for their favorite on May 23 to May 24, youll be able to vote for the Pokémon youd like featured via Twitter! The two Pokémon that receive the most votes will go on to be featured during the next Community Days, with the Pokémon with the most votes featured in June and the runner-up in July! This is likely in a Twitter poll where players can vote between the four options fairly easily. Here is what comes along with each Pokemon to players know what they are voting for.

Voting 100% comes down to personal preference for each Pokemon trainer. Whether if it is for completing the Pokedex or having viable Pokemon for competitive, it’s nice to see the game giving the option to the player. Likely, the Community Day’s that lose the voting competition will still come but at a later date, so players can still capture shiny versions of all of these Pokemon. Pokemon Go is hit hard because of COVID-19 but the game continues to stand strong with its community. The winner of the Community Day competition will be announced shortly after the voting ends.

How To Prepare For Pokmon Go Community Day

First of all, the secret allure of Community Day is the introduction of a shiny version of the highlighted Pokémon, which will have a boosted rate during the event. That, combined with the increased spawns, makes it easy to get a a handful of shinies across the six hours.

Remember, unlike high IV Pokémon, shinies don’t appear in the same place for everyone like high-IV Pokémon – there’s a random chance of each one you encounter could be a shiny. If you’re struggling, try ‘shiny checking’, by tapping a Pokémon, then backing out without catching, then moving on to the next.

Second, there will be bonus Field Research. Community Days also have their own special Field Research tasks based on the specific Pokémon the day is highlighting. The rewards are usually just consumable items – Berries and the like – but it’s an additional thing to complete as you play.

Third, every Community Day offers 3-Hour Lures. This is the perfect day to catch as many Pokémon as physically possible, and with the increased spawn rate, increase your chances of finding a shiny.

The best way to take advantage of these bonuses is to find a set of PokéStops that are in quick walking distance or one another. You can then set up a Lure Module in one and then walk between the PokéStops taking advantage of the Lure and ensuring that you don’t run out of Poké Balls or Berries.

This Ghost and Poison type Pokémon from Gen I’s Kanto Region was the runner up in the recent Community Day Poll. Gastly’s final evolution, Gengar can be evolved on Community Day with the event exclusive move, Shadow Punch. Other bonuses available for Community Day include:

• Incense will last for three hours.
• The Great Gastly! paid Special Research story will be available for $1 USD or local equivalent.
• Eggs placed in Incuabtors during Community Day will require 1/4 Hatch Distance.
• Gastly will be featured in a Snapshot Surprise.
• A one time special Community Day Box will be available in the PokéShop featuring 30 Ultra Balls, an Elite Fast TM, two Incense, and two Super Incubators.

As with the past few Community Days, this event is designed to be enjoyable while still social distancing, and players are encouraged to follow all recommendations from their local health departments.

Pokemon Go developer Niantic is getting ready to hold the July 2020 Community Day event.

The next Pokemon Go Community Day event takes place on July 19 at 11am local time.

Since the pandemic, Community Day events have lasted for six hours instead of the regular three hours. This means the event will run until 5pm local time.

As part of the July 2020 Community Day event, Gastly will appear more frequently in the wild. It’s ideal if you’re yet to unlock Haunter or Gengar.

“For just a few hours each month, you can encounter a special Pokemon in the wild,” reads a Niantic post.

“During these hours, theres a chance to learn a previously unavailable move for that Pokemon or its Evolution, as well as earn some Community Day bonuses. Celebrate what it means to be a part of the Pokemon GO community!”

Needless to say, the ability to encounter more Gastly Pokemon isn’t the only reason to join in with the Community Day celebrations.

If you evolve Haunter into Gengar during event times, your Gengar will learn the exclusive Shadow Punch move.

The August 2021 Community Day Will Feature Eevee The Evolution Pokmon

Get out and play together in your local community parks on Pokémon GO Community Day. For just a few hours each month, you can encounter a special Pokémon in the wild. During these hours, there’s a chance to learn a previously unavailable move for that Pokémon or its Evolution, as well as earn some Community Day bonuses. Celebrate what it means to be a part of the Pokémon GO community and make new friends along the way!
