The Isle Of Armor Pokemon

Must read

Theres More Under The Surface

Pokémon Sword & Shield: The Isle of Armor – Full Game Walkthrough

Pokemon Sword and Shield: Isle of Armor launched yesterday, and although the critical path storyline is only a few hours long, theres more ways you can spend your time in the new area.

Here are a few ideas you may not have thought of yet, beyond the obvious: catching more Pokemon!

Finish the main questline

Youll start the main quest after reaching the dojo mere minutes into the DLC.

After embarking upon three trials, youll end up having to take your new Kubfu creature to various locales on the island to raise your friendship level. You do not need to be friendly with Kubfu to progress this quest: so theres no need to give it a Soothe Bell or anything like that.

Once those areas are in the bag, raise your Kubfu to roughly level 70 so you can smash one of the two challenge towers. After finishing five floors of solo fights youll be able to evolve your Kubfu. Thats pretty much the end of the main quest!

Read on for how to kick off the postgame story.

Enjoy the free hidden Pokemon Center

You may not have noticed it at first, but that door inside of the dojo is actually a micro-Pokemon Center.

You can change your look by knocking on it as is explained in the game, but you can also restore your Pokemon there. Visit it regularly!

Go on raids

The Isle of Armor itself is like one giant Wild Area, so go nuts. Touch every Pokemon den for Watts , as is customary for the regular Wild Area.

Upgrade the dojo

Talk to Honey near the entrance to start upgrading the dojo.

Single-player

Pokémon Sword and Shield: The Isle of Armor is the first of two expansion packs in the Pokémon Sword and Shield Expansion Pass for the 2019 role-playing video gamesPokémon Sword and Shield on Nintendo Switch. It was developed by Game Freak and published by The Pokémon Company and Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch. It was released worldwide on June 17, 2020. It precedes The Crown Tundra . The Pokémon Sword and Shield Expansion Pass physical bundle pack was released on November 6, 2020.

The addition of Expansion Pass was used to replace the need for a third version or sequel of Sword and Shield. It is set on the coastal island, the Isle of Armor, based on the Isle of Man, which is off the coast of Sword and Shield‘s fictional region of Galar. The player controls the protagonist during their journey through the island, home to the dojo of the former champion of the Galar region and his family. The Isle of Armor‘s main gameplay consists of training the newly introduced legendary Pokémon named Kubfu. Completing the training will result in Kubfu evolving into one of two forms of the Pokémon Urshifu.

How To Start The Isle Of Armor Expansion In Pokemon Sword & Shield

Okay, so – you’ve purchased the correct expansion pass and you’ve updated your game. The next thing to do is to boot the game and head to the Isle of Armor. When you first load a save after downloading the update and buying the Expansion Pass, you’ll be told that you have an Isle of Armor Pass key item.

Once you have that item, you’ll simply need to head to Wedgehurst Train Station — this is the train station in your home town, if you’re returning to the game after some time away.

If you’ve been playing the game since it was patched to tease the Isle of Armor DLC, you may have visited the train station in Wedgehurst to meet a mysterious pink-haired lady, Klara, and catch a Galarian Slowpoke. These pair are both from the Isle of Armor DLC and their scene acted as something of a teaser for the expansion.

If you’ve seen the scene at Wedgehurst with Klara and the Slowpoke, it won’t occur again. If you haven’t it’ll occur first – but either way, you just need to speak to the man near the ticket barriers. He’ll let you use your ticket and travel to the Isle of Armor, a sprawling new Wild Area style zone that is home to a bunch of returning Pokemon that fans have missed.

Update The Pokdex Entries

Throughout the region, there will be a girl dressed in blue who appears in various different places across the map. By gifting her 100 Watts, she will be kind enough to show you a Pokédex entry for one of the new additions in the Isle of Armor DLC pack. For the most part, she appears to show you Pokémon that appear either in the area she is found in or in an adjacent one close by. She is a great way to figure out which new Pokémon appear in which area of the map, as some of them are in odd places.

Players will get a brand new Pokedex upon arriving at the island for the first time, and it will be helpful to track which new Pokémon players have already caught. There are many different ways to obtain Pokémon in the Isle of Armor DLC, including catching them in the wild, obtaining them from NPCs, trading with NPCs, and Max Raid battles.

What Is The Isle Of Armor

The Isle of Armor is the first DLC expansion to Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. This DLC allows you to travel to an all new area, with even more Wild Area, an additional story, and tons of new Pokémon. While Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield have plenty to do after you’ve beat the main storyline, this DLC can break up the monotony of trying to breed Shiny Pokémon and fighting all those Max Raid Battles. And for those of us who’ve already completed our Pokédex, we can now collect 100 more Pokémon.

What Level Can You Do The Isle Of Armor

Pokémon Sword and Shield: The Isle of Armor DLC Review

One final note – on when you can safely undertake the Isle of Armor DLC. The answer is simple: any level you like. You can first access Wedgehurst station from the moment you first set foot into the Wild Area – so that’s within the first hour or two of the game when your Pokemon are barely over Level 10. All you have to do is backtrack to Wedgehurst and speak to the train station NPC to use your Isle of Armor DLC ticket.

If you do this, battles in the Isle of Armor will scale to be appropriate to your Pokemon levels – though there’ll still be powerful wild Pokemon roaming about, so be careful!

Try Out The New Clothes

Upon arriving at the Isle of Armor, players are gifted with the Style Card, a key item that opens up new options in the clothing stores for the player to further customize their character. If the player travels back to the main region and to one of the clothing stores, the shop keeper will excitedly tell them that new options are open for the fashion-inclined.

Head To Wedgehurst Train Station

Once you download the update, you’ll receive an Armor Pass in your inventory. Head to Wedgehurst Station and look for a man next to the ticket gate. Once you speak to him, he’ll offer you the chance to head to the Isle of Armor. It’ll look like this on your map:

Do I have to beat Sword and Shield to get to the Isle of Armor?

Nope, you only need to have unlocked the Wild Area, so if you’re just starting the game for the first time, you’ll have to progress through the main story a bit first. You’ll reach the Wild Area in a pretty short time, so stick with it and you’ll be off to the island soon. You don’t need to have completed the main game in order to explore the Isle of Armor.

Talk To Hyde And Get Porygon

Porygon can be obtained by the protagonist within the Isle of Armor DLC by talking to Hyde after defeating Mustard for the second time in the expansion.

Porygon is a Normal-type Pokemon that has two evolutions, and a lot of players are already aware of this creature’s existence because it is somewhat famous within the franchise for being elusive and difficult to find. Obtaining Porygon is a must for any player that is trying to complete the Pokedex, and it is great that Gamefreak gave players a chance to obtain it so easily in Sword and Shield.

Explore The Isle Of Armor With A Partner

Although GameFreak and the Pokémon Company like to show off their most desirable features for their upcoming titles, this is one they purposefully left out to make the surprise that much more exciting. Once players have finished the three trials for Mustard, defeated their rival, and obtained the shy and super cute Kubfu, he will casually mention that he will now allow the first Pokémon in your party to walk outside of its Pokéball and in the overworld, but only while they are on the Isle of Armor. These Pokémon aren’t like the ones in Pokémon Let’s Go, HeartGold or SoulSilver, and will follow behind the player more like the overworld encounters. They even show shiny coloration if the player has managed to obtain a shiny Pokémon in their playthrough.

Pokemon Sword And Shield Isle Of Armor Review: A Fun But Short Addition

NEW LEGENDARIES on The Isle Of Armor! – Pokemon Sword & Shield Extreme Randomizer Nuzlocke Episode 2
    • The Isle of Armor is a better Wild Area
    • Many returning Pokemon, including a lot of fan favorites
    • Diglett Hunting is fun
    • Max Soup makes it easier to obtain Gigantamax Pokemon
    • Story is relatively short and inconsequential
    • Pokemon Sword and Shield’s bad parts hold the Isle of Armor back too

If anything, it should be clear by now that Pokemon Sword and Shield represent some big departures for the series in general. For starters, theyre the first main-series games on a home console. Then we had the whole Pokedex controversy and the fact that a significant number of Pokemon were culled the first time in the series that has happened. Now, for the first time ever, we have DLC, which seems to be taking the place of the enhanced edition wed typically see release after paired games .

The Isle of Armor is the first of two DLCs in the $30 Sword and Shield expansion pass, and it gives players a new area to explore the titular Isle of Armor along with a host of returning Pokemon to catch. There are actually quite a few Pokemon returning in the Isle of Armor, more than 100 in fact. Among that slate of returning Pokemon are a number of fan favorites, including the ever-popular starters from Red and Blue.

What To Do After Defeating Your Rival Klara Or Avery

After defeating either Klara or Avery for the final time, there are a few different tasks that you can complete that revolve around these two rival characters.

The first thing that you should do is obtain their special t-shirt, which can be acquired by talking with the NPC that is located on the left side of the dojo. The second thing you can do after defeating your rival is battle alongside them in a max raid battle, where they occasionally appear to assist the player character.

    Isle Of Armor Attractions

Among the Isle of Armors many rewards is the Legendary Pokemon Kubfu. Youll get it as part of the Isle of Armor storyline. The storyline will also eventually let you evolve Kubfu into Urshifu.

Urshifu is unique in that he has two secondary types. Depending on the scroll of either Tower of Two Fists, it can be Fighting/Dark or Fighting/Water. Reaching the end of the story on the Isle of Armor also lets you unlock Urshifus Gogantamax form, and it has one for each Style.

    Other new Pokemon includes:

    • Galarian Slowbro
    • Zarude

There are also 102 returning Pokemon from previous Pokemon titles. These Pokemon may appear in other areas, though you need the Expansion Pass to catch them.

You can also gather new items and play side quests introduced in the DLC.
