The Shiny rate on Community Days is approximately 1 in 25, according to The Silph Roads research, so you should find Shiny Pokémon quickly.
However, since there are so many types of Pokémon spawning, it can be difficult to find a specific one. Your best bet is to go out on the day that features the Pokémon that youre looking for and tap every Pokémon you see until you find a Shiny.
When Is The Pokmon Go August 2020 Community Day
Niantic havent shared the date for the Pokémon Go August 2020 community day as of writing.
However, its possible that the Pokémon Go August 2020 community day will take place on either August 15th, 16th, 22nd, or the 23rd.
The above possible dates are by no means official, but they do align with the prior dates for May, June, and July.
Tip: Last Hour Community Day Strategy
- Make Sure You Have Enough Candies: If you have already played for 2 hours, go through your Pokemon bag and see if you have accumulated enough of the event Pokemon’s candies to evolve and power up the evolved Pokemon. If you do not yet have enough, catch more! Keep that up until you have enough. My strategy usually is to keep catching the event Pokemon up to about 20 minutes before the end, if I still have the time available to play, and am having fun. After all, you can never have to much candy!

- Evolve the best of the Community Day special event Pokemon! I like to do this before the end of the event to be safe, but it is possible to do the evolution for up to two hours afterwards and still get the special move set for the evolved Pokemon.

How To Prepare For Pokmon Go Community Day
First of all, the secret allure of Community Day is the introduction of a shiny version of the highlighted Pokémon, which will have a boosted rate during the event. That, combined with the increased spawns, makes it easy to get a a handful of shinies across the six hours.
Remember, unlike high IV Pokémon, shinies don’t appear in the same place for everyone like high-IV Pokémon – there’s a random chance of each one you encounter could be a shiny. If you’re struggling, try ‘shiny checking’, by tapping a Pokémon, then backing out without catching, then moving on to the next.
Second, there will be bonus Field Research. Community Days also have their own special Field Research tasks based on the specific Pokémon the day is highlighting. The rewards are usually just consumable items – Berries and the like – but it’s an additional thing to complete as you play.
Third, every Community Day offers 3-Hour Lures. This is the perfect day to catch as many Pokémon as physically possible, and with the increased spawn rate, increase your chances of finding a shiny.
The best way to take advantage of these bonuses is to find a set of PokéStops that are in quick walking distance or one another. You can then set up a Lure Module in one and then walk between the PokéStops taking advantage of the Lure and ensuring that you don’t run out of Poké Balls or Berries.
What Is January’s Featured Pokemon
Each Community Day stars one “featured” Pokemon, which will appear much more frequently in the wild throughout the event. This month, the featured Pokemon is Piplup, the Water-type starter from Pokemon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum. Throughout January’s Community Day, you’ll be more likely to encounter Piplup in the wild and in Raids, and you may even hatch it from eggs that you receive at PokeStops during the event.
On top of that, this month’s Community Day will give you your first chance to encounter a Shiny Piplup in Pokemon Go. Shiny Pokemon rarely appear in the game, but the increased Piplup spawns available during the event should make it more likely that you run into a few Shiny ones.

How To Prepare For Pokemon Go December Community Day
If you want to get the most out of the December 2021 Community Day, wed recommend transferring any Pokemon you dont need from your collection to give you enough space for all the new headliners youll be catching.
Events like this are the perfect time to use any Lucky Eggs or Star Pieces you have, as theyll get you some extra XP and Stardust whether youre catching, evolving, or completing Special Research tasks.
Remember that you can also use Incense and Lures to attract any Community Day headliners during event hours, which is a great way to increase your chances of finding the Pokemon youre looking to catch.

Trainers, back in 2018, Niantic and Pokemon Go decided to launch a new in-game event called Community Day event. The first event started on January 20, 2018, and we had a chance to catch the Special Pokemon Pikachu, its shiny forms, and learn the Special move Surf. We also received great bonuses during the event. Since then, we have seen/participated in 46 Community Day events, 12 in 2018, 12 in 2019, 12 in 2020, and 10 in 2021.
Once a month, we have a special day called the Community Day event. Only on this day, Niantic and Pokemon Go introduce a Special Pokemon, which appears quite often, but just for a few hours. Also, this Pokemon will learn an exclusive move. There is an increased XP, more Stardust, greater Shiny rate, Lure Modules, Special Research, and more.
Many of our readers want to know which Pokemon we have seen as part of these events, so we decided to make a list of all Community Day events and featured Pokemon in 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021. We also added the dates, so we hope you find the list useful.
What Time Does February’s Community Day Start
Just as last month, February’s Community Day will take place at different times depending on where you live. In the Northern Hemisphere, the event will run from 11 AM to 2 PM local time in the Southern Hemisphere, the Community Day takes place from 3 PM to 6 PM local time. This means players in the Northern Hemisphere will have until 4 PM local time to get a Rhyperior with Rock Wrecker, while those in the Southern Hemisphere will have until 8 PM local time.

Pokémon Go is hosting its final Community Day in December 2021. Preparing for this event will help players capture rarer and Shiny Pokémon.
The December Community Day is fast approaching in Pokémon Go and this one marks the final Community Day of the year. Every month, Pokémon Go players are given the chance to participate in Community Day where a single Pokémon will have their spawn rate drastically increased for a limited time. Not only that, but this Pokémon also has the chance to appear in its Shiny form. Typically, these are incredibly rare to come across naturally. Community Day has been a hub for players who enjoy Shiny Hunting Pokémon. With that being said, the December Community Day is a bit different than the rest of the year since it allows trainers the chance to make up for the lost time.
December’s Community Day will take place over the course of two days. From Saturday, December 18th at 11 am local time to Sunday, December 19th at 5 pm local time, trainers will be able to encounter every Pokémon from the previous 2021 Community Days. Not only that, but Pokémon from Community Day events that took place in 2020 will begin to hatch from eggs. The spawns are split up amongst these two days. It is possible to collect every Shiny Pokémon within the time.

Can You Tell If It’s Shiny In The Wild
Shiny Won’t Appear Until Encountered
A Shiny Pokemon will not be seen in the world map of Pokemon Go. You need to encounter the Pokemon and go into the capture screen to see if it’s a Shiny.
Stays Shiny Even If You Run Away
If you leave the capture screen, as long as the Pokemon has still spawned in the world map, it will remain Shiny. If it disappears from the map and another Pokemon takes its place, it will not be the same Shiny Pokemon.
How To Get Sinnoh Stones
While you can evolve Rhyhorn into Rhydon simply be feeding it enough Rhyhorn Candy, you’ll need a special item to evolve Rhydon into Rhyperior: a Sinnoh Stone. These are typically hard to come by in Pokemon Go, but you’ll have a chance to get your hands on a few of them during this month’s Community Day. Throughout the entire day , you’ll be able to earn two Sinnoh Stones for every set of Go Battle League battles you complete, regardless of the outcome of the matches.
Attention, Trainers! From Saturday, February 22, at 12 a.m. to Saturday, February 22, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. local time, youâll be able to earn two Sinnoh Stones per set of regular- or premium- track #GOBattle League battles completed, regardless of whether you win or lose!

What Is January’s Community Day Move
Another benefit of each Community Day is that it gives you a chance to get a Pokemon with a move that it can’t otherwise learn in Pokemon Go, and that holds true this month as well. If you can evolve Piplup’s evolved form, Prinplup, into Empoleon up to two hours after the event ends, the Pokemon will know the Charged Water attack Hydro Cannon. This applies to any Prinplup that you’re able to evolve during the Community Day, even if you’ve captured it prior to the event.

Pokemon Go December Community Day Field Research
First and foremost, Niantic will be selling a special research story for the Pokemon Go December Community Day event. For $1, trainers will be able to access this special story. These special stories usually reward trainers with special items and rare Pokemon encounters.
In addition, there will be a timed research starting Saturday, December 18 at 11am local time and expiring on Monday, December 20 at 10am local time. These tasks will be focused on all of the Pokemon that have been featured in Community Day events over the past two years.
And finally, there will be Field Research Tasks. Trainers can spin PokeStops starting Friday, December 17 at 1pm EST until Monday, December 20 at 1pm EST. While the tasks themselves are not yet known, Niantic has confirmed that these tasks will reward Mega Energy for Charizard, Beedrill, Gengar, Gyarados, and Altaria.
This is the best chance to obtain enough Mega Energy to Mega Evolve these Pokemon. Usually, trainers have to wait and battle them in Mega Raids, but by completing these tasks trainers will be able to unlock this powerful option in battles.

What Is February’s Community Day Move
In addition to increased Pokemon spawns, each Community Day offers the chance to snag an event-exclusive move. If you can evolve the featured Pokemon into its final form by the end of the event, it’ll automatically know an attack that it otherwise couldn’t learn in Pokemon Go.
This month’s Community Day move is Rock Wrecker, a powerful Rock-type Charged attack. If you can evolve Rhydon–Rhyhorn’s evolved form–into Rhyperior up to two hours after the Community Day ends, it’ll know Rock Wrecker as one of its attacks. This applies to any Rhydon you evolve during the designated time frame, even if you caught them prior to the Community Day.

Pokmon Go Community Day List: All Exclusive Moves List And How They Work
Every featured Pokémon during a Community Day weekend will offer an exclusive move when evolved to its final evolution.
Not only are these exclusive to these weekends, but they are more often than not the best move their third evolution can offer, and can propel them up the meta.
You have two hours after the Community Day ends to evolve the Pokémon to get their move, so don’t worry about having to sort through your collection during the six hour window.
If you miss out on evolving the Pokémon once Community Day weekend is over to get the exclusive move, don’t panic – you can use an Elite TM, or wait until December, where a special weekend will give you another chance to catch and evolve that previous year’s Community Day Pokémon.
