Field Research Breakthroughs & Stamps Explained

As you can see in the field mission screen inside Pokemon Go, there are a series of stamps adding up to seven stamps. You can only earn one stamp per day even if you complete multiple missions – so basically, this series of stamps is designed to last a week. When you reach the seventh stamped day you’ll unlock a Research Breakthrough, represented on the screen by the big wrapped-up parcel from Professor Willow.

Exactly what will be inside these packages varies from month to month alongside the other research bonuses and rewards including the potential for a Sinnoh or Unova Stone evolution item to drop. In addition to that, every month this ‘research breakthrough’ features a Pokemon encounter. You also have an unlimited amount of tries to catch them, as Pokemon encountered in this way can’t run away. So long as you have patience and Pokeballs, you can keep trying until they’re caught.

This is a great place to practice how to make excellent throws and curveball throws in Pokemon Go, too. Pokemon caught this way will also have naturally high stats – the same sort of stats that you might find on Pokemon encountered as part of raid battles. All in all, this is a great way to catch rare Pokemon.

Pokemon Go continues to reward its players daily with stamps for completing Field Research Tasks. While players can only earn 1 stamp per day, they can continue to complete these tasks for the rewards that come along with it. May it include new items, encounters, or the chance to run into a Shiny Pokemon. Players will want to complete these every chance they get. This guide will show players every task and reward players can get for Field Research Tasks.

Every 7 stamps, players are able to claim the Field Research Breakthrough. For July, players will be able to encounter Rufflet as the special encounter. How Pokemon Go Field Research Missions & Their Rewards Work

Field Research missions are essentially little mini-quests given to you by the game when you spin Pokestops, and sometimes every now and then at random. Each PokeStop gets one specific field research mission assigned to it each day, and though you can complete a quest more than once per day you’ll only ever pick up the same mission from any given PokeStop. The rewards vary, depending on the quest, and are listed below.

You can complete as many or as few field research quests as you’d like, but you’ll want to aim to complete at least one mission per day in order to work towards your research breakthrough. Quests range across all aspects of Pokemon Go and in a sense exist to get players to experience all aspects of the game. Field research quests might ask you to battle in a raid, battle in a gym, hatch Pokemon eggs, catch certain Pokemon types or even spin Pokestops – and these are just a few examples.

Sometimes a task will reward you with the items, but other times you’ll be rewarded with a rare Pokemon encounter – field research tasks are the only way to encounter and catch Spinda, for instance. These encounters are also really useful since Pokemon encountered in this way can’t flee.

The quests and rewards on offer rotate in a monthly manner for the most part, meaning at the end of one month Niantic will retire quests and rewards and replace them with new ones. Here’s the current quests & rewards:

What Is Special Research

Special Research are tasks that are typically story-based or tied to an in-game celebration. Players who log in during events such as Go Fest or Valentines Day will get a set of unique tasks and objectives.

While Field Research tasks are obtained at random, these limited-time quests are the same for all players, and will often lead to encounters with Mythical Pokemon such as Mewtwo or Rayquaza. Its a very similar concept to Field Research, except with bigger rewards.

Plan Ahead Forspecial Research

Each player receives the same Special Research tasks fromProfessor Willow in the same order, so you can complete several objectives moreeasily with some planning.

First, be ready to trigger some tough Evolutions. Forexample, if you plan on catching Mew, you’re going to need to evolve Magikarp,so conserve your Magikarp Candy. You’ll need to evolve a Magikarp into Gyaradosas part of Mew’s Special Research , and at 400 Magikarp Candy per Evolution,you don’t want to be caught empty-handed. You’ll also need to be level 25 andhave 100 Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region registered in yourPokédex, so be sure to track down any Nearby Pokémon you haven’t registered.

You’ll need to deal with many other tasks as they come around,and there are more tricks to speed things along. Don’t forget that different BuddyPokémon find Candy at different rates, so you might want to switch to a buddylike Swablu or Wailmer that finds Candy every kilometer if you’re looking torush things along. And if you’re the type of player who normally only takes onRaids against Legendary Pokémon, don’t forget that you can complete researchtasks with easier Raids that can be completed by smaller groups.

Use 7 Berries to Help Catch Pokemon – Skwovet encounter

Win 2 raids – Falinks encounter

Some players may already have Skwovet, which is good, and players may want another Galarian Farfetchd to evolve or keep. The two primary encounters that result in new Pokemon and are the most important to keep from this event are Earn 5 Hearts With Your Buddy and Win 2 Raids, giving players Wooloo and Falinks respectively. Repeating this task will also help players evolve their Wooloo into a Dubwool, and thats only going to expand the players Pokedex.

Of course, players dont have to attempt to have this done over night. Pokemon GO players have until August 31 to obtain these tasks and get these Pokemon in this method.

Pokemon Go: Misunderstood Mischiefs First Set Of Tasks

Niantic has confirmed that Misunderstood Mischief will be released incrementally in Pokemon GO over the course of the Season of Mischief. However, at the moment, one stage of the research is already available, and it shouldnt take too much effort on the trainers part.

The research tasks and their rewards can be found below:

Stage 1 of 16

Make 10 nice throws: One Incense
Use an Incense: 10 Pokeballs
Take three snapshots of wild Psychic-type Pokemon: 10 Nanab Berries
Upon completing all three tasks in this step, Pokemon GO trainers will receive 1,000 XP and an encounter with the Pokemon Gothita.

These objectives should be pretty simple for most Pokemon GO players. Making 10 nice throws is simple if trainers are able to hit Pokemon within the target ring during catch encounters. After doing that, players will receive an Incense that they can use to accomplish the second task.

Taking snapshots of wild Psychic-type Pokemon should also be an easy process, considering Pokemon GOs Psychic Spectacular event is coming soon . There should be a few Psychic-types in the wild before that because of the current season.

With 15 more steps of research tasks leading to a showdown with Hoopa, it will be interesting to see what Professor Willow discovers and how Niantic will implement additional tasks.

The Pokemon Go Space Ultra Unlock part 2 event is set to commence, and the timed and field research tasks and rewards have been revealed.

Theres plenty to look forward to during the month of August. Palkia is returning to Raid battles with todays event, but there will also be an Eevee Community Day on the 13th.

Part 3 of Niantics major occasion will then happen on the 20th with a Sword and Shield crossover. But, before then, theres plenty else to complete and unlock.

What Is Field Research In Pokemon Go

Field Research is a series of tasks that are obtained by spinning a PokeStop or Gym. Players looking to wrack up rewards will have to travel as they are only able to complete one task a day for each location.

Each task contains an objective and Trainers are given a reward for achieving them. Rewards can range from special items to encounters with specific Pokemon.

Youll be able to access parts of this Seasons Special Research story when certain events begin. The Special Research story will focus on discovering more about Hoopa and the strange occurrences happening throughout the Season, so stay tuned to follow along with the story.

If you complete this Seasons Special Research story, youll gain access to a special event at the end of the Season that might have something to do with Hoopa!

Hoopa cant be transferred to Pokémon HOME for now. For Trainers unable to play during this Season, Confined Hoopa may be available again in the future.

Just like most characters, Pokemon encounters from Field Research and Breakthrough rewards have a Shiny rate of around 1 in 450. While not the best odds, its still better than most of the mainline RPGs.

Those wanting to increase their chances of finding a Shiny Ditto should make sure to not miss a single day of Field Research. Trainers who complete each week will have four encounter chances total.
