Trainers, the Team Go Rocket Leaders are now live in the game and many players are wondering how to beat them, as they seem extremely strong, and what are the best Pokemon to use against them when in battle.

The three Team Go Rocket Leaders, Cliff, Sierra, and Arlo can be encountered only with a Rocket Radar. This item can be built when defeating Grunts and collecting the Mysterious Component. When you meet Sierra you must try to be prepared to face his powerful dark Lapras. In order to defeat it, it is recommended that you have Pokémon that know attacks that are effective against Lapras types. That is, since Lapras is ice and water, it is ideal that you handle Pokémon with attacks of fight, steel or electric.

Tips For Defeating Sierra

Unlike standard Team GO Rocket Grunts, Leaders can use Shields. Leaders will use up one of their shields every time you use a Charge Move, so its good to have a Pokemon with a Charge Move that has a low energy requirement such as Machamp with Cross Chop so you can burn through their shields quickly and hit their later Pokemon hard with a stronger Charge Move with a higher energy requirement.

That means that its not only important to use Pokemon that can deal super effective damage but ones that can resist their attacks. You can bait the leaders into using up all their shields quickly if you use fast charging Charge Moves constantly in the beginning. That way your more powerful Charge Moves can hit the opponent without a hitch. If you can kill a Pokemon easily with Fast Moves, save up your Charge Moves for the next Pokemon they send out especially if that Pokemon isnt weak to your Fast Moves. How To Beat Sierra

As we explained before, one easy trick to getting in a lot of damage right out of the gate is to have your second or third counter Pokémon in the first slot. When the battle first starts up youll want to immediately swap them for your real counter. This will give you an opening as Sierra hesitates to initiate combat again, letting you get some free hits in before the real fight begins. With that out of the way, heres the counters for all three stages.

In the first stage Sierra will always use Beldum as of February 2020. With a wide assortment of weaknesses theres a lot of choices to go with here, so choose from Blaziken with Fire Spin and Blaze Kick, Darkrai with Snarl and Dark Pulse, Flareon with Fire Spin and Overheat, or Entei with Fire Spin and Overheat.

And now things get tougher to decide as Sierras second Pokémon can be either Exeggutor, Sharpedo, or Lapras. If its Exeggutor then hes extra weak to bug so go with Volcarona with Bug Bite and Bug Buzz, Scizor with Fury Cutter and X-Scissor, or Pinsir with Bug Bite and X-Scissor.

For Sharpedo you can pick from Lucario with Counter and Super Power, Machamp with Counter and Close Combat, RaikouVolt Switch and Wild Charge, and Zapdos with Thunder Shock and Zap Cannon. Lapras is one of the strongest defenders for two reasons: elite stats and incredibly strong typing. Ice / Water combination leaves Lapras vulnerable to the following types:

• Rock 1.25x
• Fihgting 1.25x

On paper, Lapras has a lot of type disadvantages that should be easily abused. However, as Lapras is Ice type, he can chew through most, if not all, Grass Pokemon with ease. In the current state of the game, most Electric and Fighting Pokemon have simple too weak stats and not enough health to stand up against Lapras. That being said, forget your Magnetons, Venusaurs and Jolteons.

There are only a few Pokemon that can really stand up to Lapras, and even then it is not a one sided beat-down.

Sierra has a chance to send out one of these three Pokémon second, and each of them has different ideal counters.

Hypno will wear down your Pokémon fast, so the best choice to combat it will be Pokémon with good resistance to psychic attacks, namely with Dark, Psychic, or Steel-type Pokémon. Good counters are Darkrai , Hydreigon , Houndoom , and Weavile . Psychic type Pokémon are resistant to damage, but psychic moves arent very effective, so make sure you use psychic Pokémon with other move types, like Mewtwo with charge attack Shadow Ball.

Sableyes dark attacks mean that dark type Pokémon will be resistant to it, and its dual dark/ghost type cancels out its dark resistance, so dark type Pokémon are a safe bet. Pokémon with fairy attacks do well against it as well. Good counters are Togekiss , Hydreigon , Granbull , and Clefable .

Sierras Lapras has a variety of different type move possibilities, so the easiest way to defeat it is to counter its fast move and use protect shields on its charge move. Its fast move can be Frost Breath or Water Gun so use water Pokémon, which are resistant to both. However, water-type moves arent very effective, so try to choose water Pokémon with other move types. This make Poliwrath an optimal choice. Other good counters are Machamp , Magnezone , or Lucario .

What Is The Biggest Weakness Of Lapras In Pokemon Go

This one is more debatable than most. Electric and Fighting-Types will offer you the easiest overall Type most of the time. Grass-Types theoretically can outperform them due to resisting Water-Type attacks, but suffer heavily at the hands of Ice-Type ones as well, negating their advantage.

Meanwhile, Rock-Types just kinda struggle here with no qualities to redeem them above the others.
