Here’s What You Need To Unlock The Legendary 151st Pokmon

Pokémon Lets Go is the reimagining of the original Pokémon Yellow, Red and Blue games, stripping the Pokédex back to just the original 151 Pokémon that a lot of us grew up with.
Yup, thats right, 151 – the games Pokédex goes all the way up to Mew, the mythical Psychic-type Pokémon that has always been particularly tricky to get hold of.
Luckily, its arguably easier than ever before to get hold of Mew in Pokémon Lets Go Pikachu and Eevee. Unluckily, it requires you to buy a Poké Ball Plus controller.
‘pokmon Let’s Go’ Mew: How To Download Mythical Pokmon
One perk of picking up the new Poké Ball Plus along with Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu and Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee is getting a free Mew.
Mew is one of the more rare Pokémon in the franchise and is classified as a Mythical Pokémon like the newly announced Meltan. The Psychic-type Pokémon is what the powerful Mewtwo was cloned from, and it has the distinct ability to learn any and all attacks from Technical Machines .
This special Pokémon cannot be caught by normal means in Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee, but can be transferred from within the Poké Ball Plus to the Nintendo Switch games. However, the Poké Ball Plus is sold separately for a suggested retail price of $49.99 so in addition to a neat peripheral, you’ll also receive a rare Pokémon.
Getting your very own Mew through the Poké Ball Plus is rather easy but if you’re having trouble, here’s the steps necessary to transfer it.
HOW TO GET MEW INTO POKEMON LET’S GO
First, you’ll need to pair your Poké Ball Plus with Let’s Go. Players simply need to connect the peripheral to the Nintendo Switch dock using the USB cable that comes with the Poké Ball Plus. Have the console docked when you do this to automatically pair your Poké Ball Plus.
Now that the peripheral is paired, boot up Let’s Go. When it asks which controller you which to use select the Poké Ball Plus. The game will notify you that you have a Mew within the peripheral.

What Is Pokmon: Let’s Go
Pokémon: Let’s Go is available for your Nintendo Switch and comes in two versions – either Pokémon: Lets Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Lets Go, Eevee!
The game sees players return to the Kanto region where the first generation of games were set and includes all 151 original Pokémon, along with their Mega Evolved and Alolan forms.
A simplified version of Pokémon Yellow, Let’s Go follows the traditional RPG format but the training, breeding, catching and fighting gameplay have all been updated.
And some great news for Go fans – you can transfer all of the creatures you’ve caught in Pokémon Go into Let’s Go by heading to the Go Park Complex in Fuchsia City.
All you need to then do on your phone is select Nintendo Switch, choose the Pokémon you want to transfer before picking it up at the receptionist.

How To Catch Mew In Pokmon Go
The process to catch Mew is extremely long-winded but its completely achievable if youve got the time and some patience. When you get to the stage in the game to unlock Research Tasks, which is nice and early on, youre going to want to focus on the one called A Mythical Discovery which should say 1/8 next to it.
Completing the eight steps will unlock a bunch of nifty rewards like Incense and Poké Balls, but the real reason to complete the quest is to catch the Mythical Pokémon Mew. Buckle up, here are all the steps you must complete:
What Are Mews Stats Like
The good news is that youre guaranteed your Mew will be at least half-decent. It will always have Great stats at a minimum, with three of its six stats guaranteed to be Best – though its random which.
The other three stats will be at random levels, so this is where you might have less luck – ours has pretty poor potential for HP, for example. If you want to use it in battles, the main stats to worry about are probably Speed and Special Attack – if theyre good, your Mew should be a pretty capable attacking Pokémon. We didn’t get so lucky.
Finally, one thing to note – no matter where you are in the game when you get your Mew, it will be level 1, so youll probably need to put some time into levelling it up! You didn’t expect to get handed a level 100 Mew, did you?

How To Catch Mew In Pokemon Lets Go
First things first, there is no way to catch Mew through conventional means. Unlike Mewtwo in Cerulean Cave or Zapdos in the Power Plant and others in our Wild Legendaries guide, the legendary psychic Pokemon isnt going to pop up out of nowhere. To get Mew, youre going to need to buy the Poke Ball Plus, the accessory that acts as a controller and a Poke Ball in-game.
If you dont have one, you can buy them in a bundle with the Pokemon Lets Go version of your choice or separately for $49.99/£44.99.
Now, before youve even reached the first Gym you can switch your Poke Ball Plus on and get Mew. Heres how to do it.
Press the menu button on your controller and go to the Communicate tile. From there, press Mystery Gifts. Select the third option: Get With a Poke Ball Plus.
And youre done. The whole process, all told, takes about 45 seconds and, once its finished, youll have a Level 1 Mew waiting for you in your PC or in your party if theres enough space.
How To Earn The Mew Master Title In Pokmon: Lets Go Pikachu & Pokmon: Lets Go Eevee:
Similar to Meltan, Mew is a Pokémon that can not be directly obtained in-game. Instead, other means are required to obtain Mew and that concerns the Poké Ball Plusand unfortunately, unless you can borrow a Mew from a friend or choose to buy the accessory, the title of Mew Master will never be yours to claim.
Should you do purchase Mew and the special ball the Pokémon calls home, or have one that can be loaned to you, the first step to becoming a Mew Master, is intense training. Unlike Mewtwo, your Mew will require a CP of 8,000 and even if you stuff it silly with Candy, you could still find yourself training it to Level 80 or higher, so combo catching Chansey is something youll want to consider doing.
Once your Mew has reached the required CP goal though, it is time to head off to the Pokémon Mansion on Cinnabar Island and just like you would for the Mewtwo, Meltan and Melmetal Masters, you will need to go up two floors and then descend down three floors to reach the basement
From there, you will want to head straight up and look for the switch in the top right room. Pressing the switch should grant you access to the room you will need, which leads to where the Mew Master can be located, which you can see for yourself in this video:

Stage : Reach Level 25 Battle 10x Raids Evolve A Gyarados
If you’ve already reached Level 25, you’ll also get auto-completed for that task. If you haven’t, once again, crack some Lucky Eggs and do as many back-to-back Legendary Raids as you need to to level up. 20,000 XP a pop, what can I say?
For the 10x Raids, you can either get a group of friends together and get a Raid Train going, or you can find a couple Tier 4 or Tier 5 Raids you can’t possibly beat on your own and just lose them over and over again until you get to 10. It’s time-consuming but it’s not difficult.
Evolving a Gyarados, if you don’t have the Candy now that’s difficult. Sadly, previous evolutions don’t count. You have to evovle a new one. So if you just evolved a Shiny, or were waiting to evolve a Shiny, tough luck. You’ll need to either track down enough Magikarp, Pinap Berry them, and get to 400 Candy, or Raid your heart out until you get enough Rare Candy to make up the difference, or both.
Yeah, this one can be a real wall.
How To Unlock Mew
The only way to unlock the mythical Pokémon Mew is by buying a Poké Ball Plus accessory.
All you need to do is connect it to your Nintendo Switch, open Let’s Go, select Poké Ball Plus and then hit Communicate, Mystery Gifts, Get with a Poké Ball Plus and Yes.
Word of warning though – this only works once per Poké Ball Plus, so it means you can’t lend it to a friend for them to get their own Mew, unfortunately.

Where Is My Mew In Pokemon Lets Go
As weve already reported, deleting your Mew save game will mean that youll lose Mew for good. Dont do that. Seriously. If you have done, theres no way to get it back.
On a more hopeful note, if you have received your Mystery Gift of Mew and youre looking for it, boot up the PC in any Pokemon Center and youll find the pink, cutesy legendary waiting for you there. Daww. Isnt that a relief?
How About Pokemon Go
Yes, the Poke Ball Plus works with the mobile game Pokemon Go as well. To pair both, make sure your phone or mobile device has Bluetooth on. Then look for the Poke Ball Plus option under the game’s settings. Press the Poke Ball’s stick so it can be discovered by the game. The ball has pretty good synergy with Pokemon Go, allowing you to catch Pokemon on the field, track steps and acquire Pokestop items.

Ditto is a Pokémon that disguises itself as other Pokémon. Currently, that includes:
Unfortunately, there’s no way of knowing in advance which of those Pokémon might be a Ditto in disguise until after you catch it. So, you’ve got to grind: Catch every one of those Pokémon you can. Go to high-density spawn points, like parking lots at shopping centers and malls, and catch, catch, catch. It’s entirely random, so all you can do is keep catching until you get a Ditto.
Fortunately, that’ll give you a lot of opportunities to get your 20 Great Throws in! If by some chance you get Ditto before you get your throws, though, use the same strategy as before. Hit up the big Raids with the big Bosses and go for the easy Greats.
To get the Ghost-types, go out at night when they spawn more frequently, and look for Ghastly and Misdreavus nests near you in the Silph Road Atlas.

Where To Find Mewtwo In Pokemon Lets Go
First off, youll need to finish the game and become the champion of the Pokemon League. Once youve done that, youll be notified a rare pokemon has been spotted in a cave near Cerulean City. Thats the one in the northeast of the map. Once youre there, take Route 24 north. When you cross the bridge turn left and inspec the water in the canal. Use Sea Skim and follow the canal until you see a cave with a stone gate.
Enter the Cerulean Cave and make your way to the west of the first floor. Youll find a ladder leading up. On the next floor, look for a ladder going down in the northwestern corner. Youll end up back on the first floor, in a separated area with just another ladder, leading further down. This will take you to the bottom floor. Now all you have to do is follow the path and youll reach Mewtwo in no time.
After youre done battling it, youll get to the part where you throw balls at it. If you use a Master Ball, youre guaranteed to capture it. If you fail at capturing Mewtwo, youll have to defeat the legendary four again before it respawns.

How To Get To Cerulean Cave
Before you can actually capture Mewtwo, you must first reach Cerulean Cave where it is located. Cerulean Cave can be found at any point after you have obtained all eight Gym Badges from across the Kanto region, defeated the Elite Four, and become the Kanto League Champion.
Once you have become Champion, all you need to do is use the Sky Dash secret technique to fly to Cerulean City.
From there, you are going to follow the road north out of the city to Route 24. Continue on Nugget Bridge until you reach the end of the bridge and the beginning of the dirt road. Head west from here into the grass.
Go ahead and use the Sea Skim secret technique to surf across the water. Follow this linear waterway next to the bridge, essentially going back the way you came.
Follow it until you reach a fence. From there, head west in the water until it branches south. Follow it south and you will see land to the left.
There is a Coach Trainer there and the entrance to Cerulean Cave.
What’s The Best Moveset For Mew
Mew can learn Fast and Charge Moves of all types, making picking the best moveset equal parts math and feels. Mew won’t be topping any attacker or defenders charts, so go for what the numbers say is best or your personal favorites.
Since, given the variety, it will take a ton of TMs to get what you want anyway, and it won’t make a huge difference given Mew’s stats, you can simply keep what you get. If you really want to try your luck in the TM lottery, go for something that works well against whatever you typically fight the most, and have fun with it.

How To Get Mew From The Poke Ball Plus
You have a special mythical Pokemon waiting for you if you purchased a new Poke Ball Plus. All Poke Ball Plus only come with one Mew, so if you’re sharing, you’ll need to choose who get’s the Mew.
To get the Mew, follow the above steps to connect the Poke Ball Plus to your Switch. Then, open the Menu and go to Communicate then select the icon for Mystery Gifts.
Normally, the Mystery Gifts menu only shows three options. If your Poke Ball Plus is connected, it’ll show a new option allowing you to get a gift from the Poke Ball Plus. Select that to redeem your Mew.
The Mew comes at Lv. 1 with random stats . It will only know the move Pound.
