Pokemon Go: Best Rock
Rock is home to some Pokemon that hit hard, making them great as generalists, as well as uber-powerful against the handful of Flying-type Legendaries with a weakness to Rock, like Moltres, Articuno, Zapdos, Lugia, Ho-oh, Yveltal, the Forces of Nature, and more. At lower tiers, they’ll also do a great job against Mega Raids like both Mega Charizard forms, and against common gym defenders like Dragonite and Salamence.
Once considered the greatest Rock-type attacker, Tyranitar lost its Rock-type throne to Rampardos in the same way it lost its Dark-type throne to Mega Houndoom and some others. But, its Shadow form places it back on top, so long as it has Smack Down, which can be a harsh barrier, given its exclusivity. You’ll also want to watch out for those all-too-common Fighting-types, which have plagued Tyranitar as a double weakness since its introduction in Gen II of the main series. The addition of Fairy-types hasn’t helped, either.
For a more obtainable attacker that doesn’t need some Elite TMs to be a viable Rock-type attacker, look to the Gen IV Fossil Pokemon, Rampardos. This hard-hitting dinosaur is what knocked Tyranitar off its throne, easily ranking #1 in DPS, even ahead of Shadow Tyranitar and Legendary Terrakion. However, Rampardos plummets down the list in terms of TDO, sitting behind even Pokemon that aren’t mentioned in this section. It’ll hit really hard, but only a few times before going down to one of Rock’s many weaknesses.
Pokemon Go: The Best Bug
Overall, Bug isn’t the best type. Sure, it has its uses, especially in terms of taking down Psychic- and Dark-types from time to time, but both of those types have other weaknesses that are home to Pokemon that are much stronger. With that said, Bug-types can find some niche use here and there.
Mega Beedrill is far and away the best Bug-type, without question. However, even with its best Bug-type moveset of Bug Bite and X-Scissor, its DPS still falls behind. With a monster max Attack stat of 303, though, it’s worth paying attention to, especially with its low evolution cost from Weedle and Kakuna.
For the rest of the ranking, you’re looking at the same familiar faces that dominate the Bug-type in the main series. There are no surprises here, to be sure. Pinsir and Scizor both do very well, whether in their boosted Shadow forms or just the vanilla forms. When their Mega Evolutions are released, they’ll be pretty great, though they may not take down Mega Beedrill.
Genesect has a fun gimmick with its different Drives, but sadly none of them add much value. It’s best as a Bug- or Steel-type, with the moves to match. The different Techno Blast types can have their use in the PvP meta, but they aren’t that great in PvE. As far as Bug-types go, if you’re looking for something that isn’t Shadow or Mega Evolved, Genesect is the best.
Pokmon Go Type Chart Type Effectiveness And Weakness Explained
Type Chart methods of representing Type effectiveness have been popular since long before Pokémon Go, with all of the core Pokémon games revolving around them.
In brief, Pokémon types dictate whether one Pokémon is either strong or weak – super effective or not very effective – against another, dealing additional or reduced damage as a result – and receiving additional or reduced damamage – as a result.
The standard Type chart that has evolved through the different generations will be like a second language to long-term Pokémon fans, but to newcomers it can appear too daunting to even know where to begin, so with that in mind we’ve put together a type chart of our own, as well as an explanation of how Type effectivness works and how to plan around it, just below.

List Of Pokemon Go Multipliers
The multipliers for Pokemon Go are as follows:
- Super effective against two types: 2.56x
- Super effective attacks: 1.6x
- Not very effective attacks: 0.625x
- Not very effective against two types: 0.391x
Heres a visualization chart of the type matchup for all of these:
Another difference between Pokemon Go and other games is multiple typings affect damage even further. If a species is weak to two of an opponents types then the multiplier effect would be halved again, as seen by the 0.391 multipliers.
The same applies to a Pokemon being effective against both species types. An example of this is an electric-type versus Gyarados as it is dual water and flying-type two types which are weak against electric.
Taking the time to learn which Pokemon are strong and weak against other types can often give you the edge needed to swing even the toughest fights in your favor. On top of this, familiarizing yourself with Pokemon Gos types will help you in Raid Battles, while also speeding up the process of acquiring those all-important PokeCoins.

What Pokemon Have A Good Defense Against Attacks From Ice Pokemon
Generally, the ice type doesnt have resistance against any other types.
They are only resistant to themselves, so they are considered one of the weakest types in the game.
The pokemon who have a good defense against the ice type is given below.
Steel Type Pokemon
Steel type pokemon is another one of the eighteen types. These pokemon mainly deal damage with physical moves but have some special moves in their arsenal as well.
These pokemon were actually introduced later in the Pokemon arc.
They have a good defense against special attacks, which makes them good against ice type pokemon.
Fire Type Pokemon
The fire type pokemon is another one of the eighteen types. As you can probably tell, fire makes ice melt, which is why the fire type is perfect against ice type pokemon.
It inflicts damage based on special moves, but physical moves were also added to their arsenal. The fire type has excellent resistance to ice type attacks, but if the opponent has some water moves in their arsenal, thats terrible news.
A lot of water type moves cause severe damage to the fire type. Some water type moves even reduce the attacking capabilities of the fire pokemon by a considerable percentage. But, generally speaking, ice type pokemon are weak against fire type pokemon.
Water Type Pokemon
Water type pokemon are another class of pokemon that can be used against the ice type. These pokemon have a good resistance against the special attacks that most ice pokemon can use to cause damage.

Interestingly, Niantic opted to include no type immunities in Pokemon Go. For example, in the mainline games, ghost-types are immune to normal-type attacks this isnt the case in Pokemon Go.
Pokemon Go: Best Normal
Look, Normal-types are not as bad as people make them out to be. Sure, you’ll rarely find yourself using Normal-type attacks in Pokemon GO, but that doesn’t mean they’re totally useless. Normal-types only have one weakness , they have a double resistance to Ghost, and they get STAB from moves like Hyper Beam and Giga Impact. They also do neutral damage to every type except Rock and Steel, meaning they can be great generalists. Additionally, they learn a lot of moves from other types, which isn’t relevant in this specific ranking, but it’s worth noting.
The best among them is Shadow Porygon-Z, which is in line with the fact that Porygon-Z is great in the main series as well. With Lock-On and Tri-Attack, it’s going to have fantastic DPS and respectable TDO. Hyper Beam is viable, too, but not as good. But, Tri-Attack is locked behind an Elite TM as it’s a CD move. You can purify it for Return, which is decent as well, but then you lose the Shadow boost.
Note: It seriously looks like Arceus may arrive soon, given that the Season of Heritage promotional material contains very similar vibes to Pokemon Legends: Arceus . It looks like Arceus, while not putting the Normal-type on the map, will be a great addition to the game. It’s an immensely powerful Pokemon, so hopefully that remains true in this mobile side game.

Every Pokmon Has A Type
Every Pokémon in Pokémon Sword and Shield has at least one of the 18 types in the game. Some Pokémon, like the Hootoot, even have two types. The entire list of types found in the game are as follows:
You can see what type a particular Pokémon is by looking in your Pokédex or your menu once you encountered the Pokémon in the game.
Even more importantly, every move in the game also has a type, so although you may have a Grass Pokémon like Grookey , youll notice that the moves it knows vary by type.
Certain attack types do more damage to certain types of Pokémon, while certain others will do less. There are even some attack types that wont affect certain Pokémon types at all.
Pokemon Go: Every Types Weakness
Pokemon GO shares the rock-paper-scissors nature of the mainline series when it comes to combat, but it can be tricky to remember all of the elemental type advantages with so many types in play at once.
Niantic has fortunately provided a helpful article on its official Pokemon GO site to remind its players what weaknesses and resistances are out there. Since the games inclusion of Fairy-type Pokemon and moves, Pokemon GO is now up-to-date with its type effectiveness alongside the current titles in the franchise such as Pokemon Sword & Shield.
Super-effective damage is vital to trainers combat capabilities, as taking advantage of type weaknesses is a core concept in Pokemon GO.
Pokemon, as we all know, is all about training your pocket monsters to be the very best, like no one ever was. You need to catch, train, battle, and evolve them in order to prove your mastery in the world. Now, with Sun and Moons release, things are no different! You will still have specific types to fight with, and they each have their own strengths and weaknesses. Lets talk about Water Pokemon!
Water is, of course, incredibly strong against the following types:
Hit any of those kind of enemies with an aqua-based attack and they will be done for in no time with all of the super effective hits you will do. Heres a list of some notable attacks you can do:

Pokemon Go: What Are Electric
Each Pokemon type has its own strengths and weaknesses in Pokemon GO.
Electric-type Pokemon have some serious strengths that trainers can take advantage of. In fact, they are only truly vulnerable to one type of Pokemon.
An Electric-type Pokemon is strong against Flying and Water-type Pokémon, such as Gyrados, Altaria, and Salamance. Therefore, if a player has an Electric-type Pokemon in their Pokedex, it will be best to use it against a Legendary Kyogre or an Aerodactyl.
Trainers also need to know how to successfully counter an Electric-type Pokemon as they are likely to encounter one in gyms, raids, field research tasks and events.
Hey, Trainers! A new batch of Field Research is now available, and I need your help! This time, Im focusing on researching Flying- and Electric-type Pokémon. Keep me updated and let me know what you find. Lets GO!

Pokemon Go: Best Ground
Ground, often considered a great type in the main series, offers some excellent options in Pokemon GO. Good against five types , Ground-types will serve you pretty well. Unfortunately, the Ground-type movepool isn’t fantastic by any means, especially with Earthquake’s low viability compared to its absolute dominance in the main series. Other types will often serve better, but Ground-types do have niche use in sunny weather or against Electric-types.
Shadow Mamoswine and Shadow Swampert both dominate in damage output and DPS, but only with charge moves that aren’t Ground-type . If Shadow Mamoswine has Bulldoze, it’ll fall behind a bit from its Avalanche counterpart, but not terribly so, still holding a spot among the best Ground-types.
If you want a Ground-type with two Ground-type moves, your best bet is Landorus in either of its forms, though Therian slightly edges out Incarnate. Not far behind are Mamoswine and Swampert in their non-Shadow forms , followed by Groudon with a massive TDO of 848.72. When it receives its Primal Reversion at some point, it’ll be even better, though it’ll take on a double weakness to Water. If Niantic ever gets around to releasing Precipice Blades, Groudon’s signature move, it’ll absolutely go from one of the top Ground attackers to one of the best Pokemon in general.
Pokemon Go: Best Poison
Poison is a bit of a strange case. In the main series, it makes its paycheck with the use of the poisoned status condition and other stat- and condition-affecting trickery. But, since that stuff doesn’t really exist in Pokemon GO, Poison is reduced to the same strategy as every other type: don’t go up against your weakness, and maximize your damage output. Unfortunately, Poison has never been great at sheer damage output, so that didn’t translate to it being one of the better types in GO. With that said, it can be useful against Grass- and Fairy-types, when necessary.
The actual best Poison-type is without question Mega Gengar, but since it lacks a Poison-type fast move, we’re going to exclude it here. But, even with another type fast move, it’ll outpace the rest of the best Poison-type attackers. Mega Venusaur suffers the same problem. It’s probably the second-place contestant against Mega Gengar, and even beats it in TDO, but it has no Poison-type fast move.
As for the best Pokemon with two Poison-type moves, your best bet is Mega Beedrill with Poison Jab + Sludge Bomb. Against Grass-types, though, its fast Bug-type move, Bug Bite, will do a bit better than Poison Jab. As of now, Mega Beedrill remains a fantastic Poison-type attacker but goes down quickly, so try to hit hard with its massive max Attack before it’s taken down. As we mentioned in the Bug-type section, it’s also fantastic how cheap it is to evolve a Weedle up to Beedrill, for what that’s worth.

Pokmon Type Effectiveness And Weakness Chart
Our type chart presents the 18 Pokémon types in attack and defence scenarios. To use it, simply find your Pokémons type to see what its attacks are strong and weak against, and what it is resistant and vulnerable to when defending. This chart is designed for use with Pokémon GO, but the general strength/weakness information holds true for most every Pokémon game.
- Types bolded in square brackets are subject to a further cut in effectiveness in the mainline games these are outright immunities
- If a type is not listed, damage is neutral
- The strength of an attack is increased if the attack type is strong against both types of a dual type Pokémon
- Type resistance and vulnerability effectively cancel each other out on dual type Pokémon
Bug, Dark, , Fighting
Note that attack and defence type relationships are not identical e.g. types may be resistant to types when defending that they are not super effective against when attacking.
Remember, things get even more interesting when Pokémon of dual types crop up and you have to factor in additional strengths and weaknesses.
