*note: This Article Was Written Before The Release Of The Isle Of Armor And Crown Tundra Dlcs For Pokemon Sword/shield*

Ive wanted to write this article for a long time. I dawdled on it for a while until I started playing Pokemon Sword again recently. I reviewed both Pokemon Lets Go Pikachu/Eevee and Pokemon Sword/Shield a while back. I am still happy with those reviews and still stand by them, but today, I wanted to do something a little different. Im going to compare both of these Pokemon titles to find out which one is the better game So, without further delay, lets find out which is the better game: Pokemon Lets Go Pikachu/Eevee, or Pokemon Sword/Shield?

    Point 1: Story

Except for Pokemon Black and White, mainline Pokemon games are not known for their complex storytelling. The Pokemon games will have the player go through the region and collect gym badges Both Pokemon Lets Go, and Sword/Shield seldom deviates from this formula Ill be honest neither of these games makes a compelling argument that they are the best story-wise. If I had to choose one, Id have to give it to Sword/Shield. Pokemon Lets Go has the gym leader just sit in their gym, waiting for the challenger to come up to them. It does make them somewhat imposing, but its nothing compared to the giant stadium with a huge crowd watching you beat the gym leaders pokemon into submission. So, the point goes to Sword/Shield.

    Point 2: Visuals.

    Point 4: Gameplay

    Point 5: World

There are a few unique points to each game that need to be addressed, herein referred to as freebies.

    Lets Go Freebee:

Firered/leafgreen: They Guide You Just Enough

No main series Pokémon game is actually hard and this entry isn’t suggesting that they are. They do have certain parts within them that can be hard or challenging enough, but are not as a whole hard. However, despite the games being overall easy, there is such a thing as too easy and that unfortunate trend also started with 2013’s X and Y.

RELATED: Pokémon: 10 Things You Didn’t Know About Iris

FireRed and LeafGreen are also not difficult games, but they aren’t so easy to the point where they’re not fun. These guide you just enough in-game to where you’re still having fun. The Switch remakes could be seen as painfully easy.

There Are Key Differences Between Lets Go Pikachu And Lets Go Eevee

While the gameplay and story of both versions of Pokémon: Lets Go is the same, there are a few key differences. Most obviously, the version of the game you pick will determine your partner Pokémon: Pikachu or Eevee. Each version of the game will also have some exclusive wild Pokémon, and the version will determine how frequently some types of Pokémon appear. The confirmed exclusive Pokémon in Lets Go: Pikachu include Oddish, Sandshrew, and Growlithe. Lets Go Eevee has wild Bellsprout, Vulpix and Meowth. There are certainly more exclusive Pokémon to be found in both games. In order to catch all of the Pokémon in either game, youll need to trade with someone who has the opposite version to obtain the other set of exclusive Pokémon.

    Lets Go Eevee: Exclusive Pokmon

    Pokémon: Let

Lets Go, Eevee has its share of exclusives as well. Specific to this game are the Vulpix, Meowth, Bellsprout, Ekans, Koffing, and Pinsir families. Once again, you can trade with your friends, but especially with Meowths fame in the anime, this might be the version to go with.

Another important note is that one of these exclusives, Pinsir, has a mega-evolution that you can buy a stone for in the Indigo Plateau near the end of the game. If you want an exceptionally powerful bug-type to face Elite 4 and dont have a friend to trade for it, this version is the only one you can easily use it in.

    Character Actions And Abilities

    S.C.O.U.R.G.E.: Heroes of Lesser Renown

Most of the actions in an RPG are performed indirectly, with the player selecting an action and the character performing it by their own accord. Success at that action depends on the character’s numeric attributes. Role-playing video games often simulate dice-rolling mechanics from non-electronic role-playing games to determine success or failure. As a character’s attributes improve, their chances of succeeding at a particular action will increase.

Many role-playing games allow players to play as an evil character. Although robbing and murdering indiscriminately may make it easier to get money, there are usually consequences in that other characters will become uncooperative or even hostile towards the player. Thus, these games allow players to make moral choices, but force players to live with the consequences of their actions. Games often let the player control an entire party of characters. However, if winning is contingent upon the survival of a single character, then that character effectively becomes the player’s . An example of this would be in , where if the character created by the player dies, the game ends and a previous save needs to be loaded.

Will Pokmon Home Work With Future Pokmon Games

Youd hope so, wouldnt you? Although from past experience perhaps we can expect an entirely new system that will unify the previous systems in a totally new and even more complicated manner.

Were joking. With its mobile integration, its a good bet that Pokémon HOME will be the storage and trading app for all your Pokémon needs for the foreseeable future.

Well update this guide with more information over the next few days. Well also add new information regarding Pokémon GO compatibility as it becomes available.

    Pokemon Lets Go Eevee:

    • Bellsprout/Weepinbell/Victreebel
    • Vulpix/Ninetales
    • Meowth/Persian

So, if youre an Arcanine kind of person, maybe Lets Go Pikachu is for you. If you like Persian and Victreebel, you should consider looking into Eevee. However, its important to remember that you can import Pokemon from Pokemon Go, so exclusivity wont be as much of an issue as it used to be. Im getting Eevee knowing full well that I can import five Arcanines from Pokemon Go. While you used to have to trade your best Pokemon to your mates in order to convince them to give you an exclusive Pokemon from their game, you can now manage it yourself by importing from Pokemon Go.

Importing Pokemon is essential to evolving Meltan into Melmetal anyway, so its definitely a solid use of your time. Therefore, the exclusive Pokemon might seem like a huge deal given its impact on the series historically speaking, but its actually a relatively minor difference this time around.

What Is The Difference Between Pokemon Go And Lets Go Pikachu

Pokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu And Let’s Go Eevee Review

Since both Pokemon Go and Letâs Go Pikachu are extremely popular, a lot of people get confused between them. Though, Pokemon Go is an augmented reality and location-based game that is available for Android and iOS devices. The game has over 140 million monthly active users and it encourages us to go out to catch Pokemons. Apart from that, players can also fight with different Pokemons, evolve them, participate in raids, and so on.

On the other hand, Pokemon: Letâs Go Pikachu/Eevee and two role-playing video games released by Niantic in 2018. Unlike Pokemon Go, which is freely available for iOS and Android, Letâs Go Pikachu/Eevee only runs on Nintendo Switch.

Since it is a role-playing game, you donât have to go out or interact with other users in it. Instead, you would have to explore the Kanto region of the Pokemon universe and complete different missions. How To Pick Nature And Gender Of Your Starting Pokemon In Lets Go

To pick your starting Pokemon Gender and Nature in Pokemon Lets Go, youll basically have to restart the game. Let me explain. When you start the game, youll get a starter Pokemon of a certain Gender and Nature. There are 25 different natures available, but well get into that later. Anyway, if youre not satisfied with your Nature / Gender combo, heres what you have to do.

Do not save the game this is important if you want to reroll your starter Pokemon. Go back to the Nintendo Switch home screen. Go to Pokemon Lets Go and select Close Application. Start the game over and see what combo you got this time. If you arent happy, go back to step one. Rinse and repeat until you get the combo you want. Its a huge hassle, but thats how the cookie crumbles.

Oh, by the way, one important side note here. Unlike previous Pokemon games, you dont get to choose your starter Pokemon in Pokemon Lets Go. Instead, your starter Pokemon will depend entirely on which edition you bought. If you purchased Lets Go Pikachu, you get Pikachu. If you bought Eevee, youll get Eevee.

EDIT: As one of our readers Jeffery has pointed out, you can first select the gender of the Pokemon as described above. Save the game, and then you can start choosing Natures as described above, That way, you can avoid having to choose a Gender every single time.

Lets Go Pikachu: Your Starting Partner Pikachu

This might seem obvious, but picking this version means youre going to be choosing your true partner as Pikachu from the beginning. Unlike other mainline Pokémon games, you dont choose between a selection of Grass, Fire, and Water-type Pokémon in this one. Instead, you have one Electric-type Pokémon ready and waiting to journey with you.

This game is meant to be similar to Pokémon Yellow, both by featuring Jessie and James from the anime and for having the token Pikachu be your destined partner like Ash Ketchum. If you want the classic Pokémon experience, Lets Go, Pikachu is the way to start.

Firered/leafgreen: They Keep The Traditional Gameplay

On the other hand, many fans will say these would be the best entry/gateway games as they don’t try any controversial or unconventional altering of the tried and true gameplay formula. This opinion, like the previous, is also valid as it keeps the core gameplay mechanics very much that of any other JRPG.

When some criticize the franchise’s recycling of gameplay, they aren’t always necessarily talking about the combat system. No one blamed the Final Fantasy franchise for being turn-based the majority of the time. Fans of the Pokémon series deeply enjoy the turn-based combat present throughout.

If Your Rival Evolves Eevee Into Jolteon:

    • Jolteon
    • Ninetales
    • Magneton

Regardless of which Eeveelution your rival chooses, they will have an incredibly powerful team. Given that your rival in Pokemon Yellow chose Eevee as their starter, it could be the case that both of the new versions will follow suit. Perhaps your rival in Pokemon Lets Go Eevee will choose Pikachu, and your rival in Pokemon Lets Go Pikachu will choose Eevee. This would make perfect sense, given that your rival could either base their team around their Eeveelution, or around yours.

If this is the case, choosing Lets Go Eevee could give you a way of deciding your rivals team, whereas choosing Lets Go Pikachu will cause your rival to base their team on whatever final form of Eevee they get. This is just speculative, but Pokemon Yellow is the closest thing weve ever seen to the Pokemon Lets Go Pikachu vs Eevee games.

Go Park Replaces The Safari Zone

Instead of the Safari Zone present in Pokémon Yellow, you will now be able to access the Go Parks in Fuchsia City. The Go Parks allow you to transfer Pokémon from the Pokémon Go mobile game to the Pokémon Lets Go Nintendo Switch games. The Pokémon you transfer from your phone will appear in the Go Parks, and you will be required to capture them again, but this is an easy way to fill up your Pokédex.

Unlike in the original version, you do not get Safari Balls when you enter the park. You will be required to use your own inventory of Poké Balls, so be sure to stock up before entering.

    Collecting Both Pikachu And Eevee

Just because you choose Eevee version doesnt mean you wont be able to get a Pikachu, and vice versa. Pikachu is easy to find in the wild as early as Viridian City theyre not the most common finds, but you can grab multiple Pikachu without putting in too much effort.

Eevee, meanwhile, was never available to catch in the wild in the original Game Boy games. Lets Go! draws heavily on these, so we imagine it works the same way: Theres a single Eevee a player can grab, and it requires sneaking into the backdoor of the Celadon City mansion.

Pikachu lovers who want an Eevee will most likely have to rely on trading with someone else someone who already traded themselves an Eevee from Pokémon Go.

Where To Find Eevee In Pokmon Lets Go

Pokémon: Lets Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Lets Go, Eevee! – Overview Trailer – Nintendo Switch

There is only one place in Pokémon Lets Go where you will find a wild Eevee, and that place is Route 17 west of Celadon City. It will take you some time, as it is a pretty rare Pokémon, but it will eventually appear. Of course, you must capture three Eevee if you want to have it in all its evolutions.

How To Get A Shiny Eevee Or Pikachu In Pokmon Let’s Go

Last year, an event took place that made getting a shiny Eevee or Pikachu in Pokémon Let’s Go! Pikachu or Eevee for Nintendo Switch easy as pie. By downloading a single app and then visiting a local Target store, players could claim whichever of the two shiny Pokémon was not their partner Pokémon in either game . While that event is now over, there are now quite a few more shiny Pikachus and Eevees running around out there than usual for trade than there would usually be.

    Ner Pokmon: Pikachu Or Eevee

The main difference between the two versions of the new pair of Pokémon games for Nintendo Switch is which Pokémon you get as your partner Pokémon. Your partner Pokémon is a special Pokémon that you have with you throughout your adventure through the Kanto region, so choose wisely. This Pokémon will travel with your every step of the way. You will be able to dress this Pokémon up in outfits, including matching outfits for your Pokémon and your playable character if you choose. This Pokémon will also be able to learn exclusive moves.

Also, keep in mind that your partner Pokémon cannot evolve in this game. You will, however, be able to capture other wild Pikachu and Eevee throughout your journey, which will be able to evolve, so you will still be able to obtain Raichu, Vaporeon, Jolteon, and Flareon.
