*THE $500,000 POKÉMON CARD!* Rarest Cards In The World

A two-of-a-kind card that suddenly became one of the most valuable Pokémon cards of all time

Sold for $360,000 in January 2021

One of only two such Pokémon cards in existence – making it extremely rare – this Blastoise suddenly became one of the most valuable Pokémon cards of all time after it sold at auction in January 2021 for a whopping $360,000 .

The ultra-rare Pokémon card was created in 1998 as a presentation piece by Magic: The Gathering maker Wizards of the Coast to convince Nintendo of Japan executives to allow it to handle the TCGs English-language release. The game would eventually make its international debut one year later in 1999.

While two Blastoise Presentation cards were produced, this is the only one that has been seen publicly. Even more impressively, it has been graded at a NM/Mint+ 8.5 level by certification website CGC, meaning that the 20-plus-year-old card is in near-perfect condition. The location and state of the other Presentation card remains unknown – meaning that this may well be the only such card of its type left.

Over the last 12 months Pokémon cards have once again made a comeback. Many people who used to collect the Pocket Monsters as kids are now going back to build their dream collections. Plus, a new generation of Pokémon trainers are being brought into the Pokémon card hobby through their parents and online influencers like Logan Paul. This surge in attention has caused a surge in demand and price. Several Pokémon card sales records have been shattered since the beginning of 2021, including the most expensive Pokémon card in the history of the hobby. Prerelease Raichu Most Valuable Card Yet To Be Sold

The prerelease Raichu was given by Wizards of the Coast only to employees and other close friends of the company. Less than ten of these cards exist, and they were only a myth until 2006, when a picture of one such card was posted online.

There are many fakes of this card, and an official record of any sale of a Prerelease Raichu does not exist. The price is a mystery. It is possible that at an auction, it could beat the record for most valuable card ever sold. As of July 2019, no owners of such a card have tried to sell it.

#10 Stormfront Charizard, $489.46

Prepare to see a lot of Charizard on this list. As the series’ most popular Pokémon, it appears on almost all of the cards here in some form or another.

Stormfront was released in 2008 under the Diamond & Pearl umbrella. While not one of the set’s many rare Lv.X Pokémon, Charizard was still a highly coveted Secret Rare, putting him as the most valuable card from the entire set.

Aquapolis’ Lugia

The Pokémon Company/Wizards of the Coast

#9 Aquapolis Lugia, $490

Aquapolis came from that weird e-Card era of the Pokémon Trading Card game, where cards could be scanned into the e-Reader peripheral for the Gameboy Advance. While the whole thing was a total failure , some of the cards from that time are still pretty valuable. Lugia is the most expensive card from Aquapolis, coming in at around $490-$500.

FireRed & LeafGreen’s Charizard ex

The Pokémon Company

#8 FireRed & LeafGreen Charizard ex, $500

The return to Kanta in the GameBoy Advance era also saw the TCG follow suit, with a set entirely featuring Pokémon from the original 151. To give it that Advance generation flair, a number of Pokémon also received an ex form, a new feature that was first introduced in EX Ruby & Sapphire. Of course, the #1 card was Charizard ex.

Most Expensive Pokmon Card Sold At Auction Is Pikachu Illustrator Promo Hologram Card

This card was auctioned off by Heritage Auctions in November 2016, at which time it broke the record for most expensive Pokémon card ever sold at auction.

A limited number of Illustrator Pikachus were given to the winners of the CoroCoro Comic Illustration Contest in 1998. All of them are valuable, but this particular card was in mint condition at the time of its sale. The price has gone up, in part due to a resurgence of Pokémons popularity in recent years.

Theres a similar Pikachu card on eBay as of July 2019 this one from the Pokémon Art Academy Illustration Contest with a price of over $5,300.

Why Are Pokmon Cards So Expensive

The answer to this lies in the rarity of the cards as well as the fact that the game has grown into a beloved franchise over the past three decades. This global love and admiration ensure that on the few occasions that the company manufactures new cards, they are snapped up like hotcakes. It also means that the old cards which are no more in production become highly-coveted items for fans of the franchise.

Neo Genesis 1st Edition Lugia Holographic

A Legendary Pokemon on a legendarily rare card only fitting.

Neo Genesis is an infamous name for many PSA card gradersand this is mostly because of the sets absurd amount of inconsistencies and misprints that are common throughout the expansion, namely card cuts, typos, and incorrect symbols. For the 1st Edition Lugia, this is also true. However, this card also stands high as one of the rarest in mint condition above the sets continuous printing flaws. Only 41 Gem Mint 10 copies of this card are known to exist, and one reportedly sold for $50,000 in late 2020. This legendary card feels only appropriate for a legendary Pokémonespecially one like Lugia.

Clearly, the non-sports card collecting world is every bit as hot as the sports card hobby.

Passionate collectors are obviously willing to shell out big bucks to land any one of the prized possessions on this list.

The video games, television shows, and the cards themselves transformed Pokémon into a worldwide phenomenon with an enormous fan base.

And many of those kids who grew up with these cards are now adults with more spending power able to pay big bucks for them in top condition.

It doesn’t look like that trend will slow anytime soon as these cards have found their place as one of the most popular non-sports sets in the hobby.

https://www.psacard.com/

The most expensive Pokémon card on our list is no surprise. There is no more iconic card in the Pokémon TCG than the Charizard Base Set 1st Edition 4/102, and in the last 12 months, this card has made plenty of headlines from Logic purchasing a PSA 10 version of the card for $220,000 in October of 2020, to Logan Paul wearing the same card around his neck graded a BGS 10 to his exhibition against Floyd Mayweather in June 2021. This Charizard card is the most sought-after Pokémon card that exists. What makes it so special is that it was part of the first print run of the English edition of the beloved trading card game, making it an extremely rare Pokémon card. The card features a 1st Edition stamp below the card artwork, and it is shadowless, meaning that there is no drop shadow to the right of the art panel. A Charizard Base Set 1st Edition PSA 9 sold for $26,000 in late 2020 making it the most expensive Pokémon card to ever sell on StockX.

While all of these Pokémon cards carry substantial value, they still do not come close to the record for the most expensive Pokémon cards ever. Logan Paul claims his Charizard Base Set 1st Edition BGS 10 is a million-dollar card, but that price has yet to be seen. Below are the top three most expensive and rarest Pokémon cards to have ever sold publicly.

Black Star Ishihara Signed Gx Promo Card

A card featuring the Pokémon Company’s President himself.

Sold for $247,230 in April 2021

The most recent card to make headlines for pure value, this card sold for nearly a quarter of a million dollars at auction on April 26th 2021. You can find the full details at our story here, but this card depicts Pokémon Company founder and current president Tsunekazu Ishihara, and was given to the company staff as a celebration of the man’s 60th birthday in 2017.

That makes the card rare, but this specific version is even rarer, as Ishihara actually signed this near-mint card to boost its price even further. The “2017 P.M. SM Black Star #TPCi01 Tsunekazu Ishihara Signed Pokémon GX Promo Card”, to use its full title, is a testament to the raw power apparently held by the Pokémon president. The ability “Red Chanchanko” is in reference to the red vest traditionally worn on 60th birthdays in Japan, and prevents the effect of any attack, ability or trainer card against Ishihara. Meanwhile, its GX move “60 Congratulations”, tells you to flip 60 coins, and take a present for each one. A truly legendary card.

Charizard 1st Edition Shadowless Base Set

As almost any kid that grew up in the 90s can attest to, Charizard has always been the crown jewel. If you didnt have one, you desperately opened booster pack after booster pack trying to obtain the glorious Pokemon card.

1st Edition versions of this 1999 base card can go for an absurd amount. Even more so if its Shadowless an early print version that doesnt have a shadow around the arts border.

On October 9, 2020, popular rapper Logic paid over $226k for a Grade 10 1st Edition Charizard, setting a new bar for the fire Pokemon card. However, just two months later a new record was set.

A bidder at a December 12 PWCC auction dropped $350,000 for the 1999 Base Set collectible. Incredibly, only four hours later, another 1st Edition reportedly went for $369k according to Goldin Auctions, making it the second most expensive Pokemon card ever sold.

Umbreon Gold Star Holo

  • Release Date: 2005
  • Grading: BGS 9.5
  • Pokemon card value at auction: $70,000

Eevee and its evolutions are some of the most popular characters in the Pokemon franchise. It makes sense then that a Gold Star Umbreon would quickly become one of the most coveted Pokemon cards in the TCG.

The story behind this Pokemon card also makes it unique as players had to accumulate over 70,000 XP points by the end of the Pokemon Players Clubs fourth season to obtain it. Trainers not only had to physically go to events, but they had to win a lot of matches.

Due to its low population, not a lot of these Pokemon cards have actually gone up for sale. All of that changed in June 2021 when the Gold Star Umbreon sold for $70,000 at auction. Its BGS grade of 9.5 makes it all the rarer, as only two in the whole world have received a grade this high.

RAREST POKEMON CARD OPENING EVER!

Top 10 Richest Poker Players 2022: You could quite easily find yourself on the list of the top 10 richest poker players, if you win one or more of the higher paying poker tournaments that are available these days.

In the following guide I am going to be listing the top 10 poker players by winnings and will additionally give you an insight into some of their biggest poker tournaments wins.

Bryn Kenney As for the one poker player that is leading the way when it comes to poker winnings, well look no further than the American Bryn Kenney who is sitting on a huge $56,328,702 in poker winnings. His top listing is down to the simple fact he did manage to win some $20,563,324 from one single poker tournament.

Justin Bonomo Moving onto the second richest poker player based on winnings, well it is another U.S. based player that being Justin Bonomo. As for just how much he has won, well that total currently stands at some $49,127,968, made up of a single tournament win of some $10,000,000, but I do suspect those winnings are going to keep on getting higher in the years ahead.

Pokemon Japanese Promo Family Event Holo Kangaskhan Trophy Card

Sold in October, 2020 for $150,100

Another holy-grail trophy card, the 1998 Japanese Promo Kangaskhan Family Event card, continues to be one of the rarest and most desirable of all Pokemon cards.

This card is especially interesting compared to other trophy cards because teams consisting of a parent and child battled each other to obtain it, which was an admirable effort to build family bonding.

Fittingly, the tournament organizers chose none other than Kangaskhan, a kangaroo-like Pokemon with a baby Kangaskhan in her pouch, as the trophy card mascot.

Just 47 examples have made their way across PSA’s grading table, with eleven assessed in PSA 10 condition.

A pair of Gold Star Pokémon cards from one of the most valuable Pokémon sets of all time

Sold for $22,000 in February 2021

Gold Star Pokémon cards are among the most valuable sets of Pokémon cards in existence and command an incredibly high value as a result. The cards are named after the gold star that appears next to the Pokémons name at the top of the card, which signifies that the card features alternative-colour artwork different from the common version. Only 27 Gold Star cards were released from 2004 to 2007, making them some of the rarest Pokémon cards available.

While all of the Gold Star Pokémon cards are rare, only appearing once in approximately every 88 booster packs for certain Pokémon TCG expansions, the very rarest are the Eeveelutions – the many evolutions into which basic Gen 1 Pokémon Eevee can evolve. And the rarest of the rarest are the original Japanese-language versions of the cards offered to members of the Pokémon Players Club, who could spend points earned by participating in official organised play and tournaments to obtain exclusive cards.

While Eeveelutions Flareon, Jolteon and Vaporeon could be acquired in the EX Power Keepers set released in 2007 via the Pokémon online store, their psychic and dark elemental siblings Espeon and Umbreon could only be picked up by players who collected enough Pokémon Players Club points. The Espeon 025/PLAY card required 40,000 EXP points earned, while Umbreon 026/PLAY was even most pricey at 70,000 points.
