How Do I Challenge The Leaders Of Team Go Rocket

While Team GO Rocket Grunts have been taking over PokéStops since July 2019, beginning in November 2019, their leaders have joined the fight. By fighting six Grunts, you can collect Mysterious components, which can, in turn, be used to create a Rocket Radar. Once in possession of a Rocket Radar, you can track down Team GO Rocket Hideouts, and challenge one of three Team GO Rocket Executives.

These Executives are much stronger than the Grunts and actually know how to use their Shields, so prepare for a tough battle and prioritize burning through their shields early. Each of the three executives will reward you with their first Shadow Pokémon, which has the potential to be Shiny, and a Strange Egg, if you have room in your bag.

Additionally, if you defeat all three Team GO Rocket Executives, you can be rewarded with a Super Rocket Radar once per month that will lead you to the Boss of Team GO Rocket: Giovanni! Giovanni, the reoccurring villain of the Pokémon series can be defeated in a Trainer Battle, and doing so will earn you a powerful Legendary Shadow Pokémon. Its a great reward, and below Ill explain all the steps required to find this bad guy.

What is Team GO Rocket? The newest incarnation of the Pokémon thieves has landed in Pokémon GO, and new Leaders are everywhere. By fighting standard grunts they appear all over the place naturally you can track down HQs and do battle with one of the new GO Rocket leaders. To fight the big boss of Team GO Rocket, youll need to complete four steps. Each step involves two major additions to Pokémon GOLeader Hideouts and Rocket Radar. Heres the quick summary.

Where To Find Pokemon Giovanni Location And Fight Him

• In a blog post from August, Niantic said Team GO Rockets Boss seems to be missing.
• You wont be able to find him in-game, as Super Rocket Radars cannot locate him at the moment

Therefore, finding Giovanni in Pokemon Go in September 2021 is a near-on impossible task. Normally Giovanni is constantly in the game, appearing as the final boss of the Looming in the Shadows research. There, youd get the chance to fight him once youve defeated Team GO Rocket leaders Sierra, Cliff, and Arlo.

However, it appears that Giovanni is in hiding right now, as its impossible to locate him in Pokemon Go. Niantic do make it seem like hell be back soon though, instructing players to keep an eye out for updates throughout the season.

More than that though, you need to strategize using his own tactics against him. First off, make sure your Persian counter isnt in your first slot. Swapping Pokémon will cause Giovanni to pause his own attacks for 2-3 seconds, letting you do damage and gain Charged Attack energy. In order to beat Giovanni, you need to find him first. In order to do that, you must first find and defeat Team Rocket grunts. Once you have beaten the grunts you need to defeat each of the Team Rocket Leaders, Arlo, Cliff and Sierra. You only need to beat them once.

Completing this step will get you the Super Rocket Radar which will help you locate Giovanni. The catch here is that a number of grunts are going to be disguised as Giovanni. They will try to stop you from getting to the boss and keep him hidden for as long as possible.

What To Do With The Super Rocket Radar

Although rare, there are still plenty of Pokemon GO players that still have their hands on a Super Rocket Radar. This isn’t to be confused with a normal Rocket Radar, which is used to encounter either Sierra, Cliff, or Arlo.

If a player still has an unused Super Rocket Radar, the best thing to do is turn it off from their item menu until more news regarding Giovanni is revealed. The item is currently useless as any battle with Giovanni is unavailable at this time.

Finding Team GO Rocket LeadersEach time you Battle and defeat a Team GO Rocket Grunt, theyll drop a Mysterious Component. Collect 6 Mysterious Components to craft a Rocket Radar:

You can track your progress towards completing a Rocket Radar by checking how many Mysterious Components are in your Bag. After earning your first Rocket Radar, Rocket Radars will be available for purchase from the in-game Shop using PokéCoins.

The Rocket Radar reveals the locations of nearby Leader Hideouts. Leader Hideouts look just like regular PokéStops until youre in range, at which point youll see a Team GO Rocket Leader standing next to the associated PokéStop.

You can equip a Rocket Radar immediately after crafting one or equip and unequip it from your Bag. Once equipped, you can tap the Rocket Radar button below the compass on the Map View to see Leader Hideouts locations.

Note: Leaders will not appear at PokéStops unless you have a Rocket Radar equipped.

Team Go Rocket Details

Team GO Rocket are an offshoot of the Team Rocket from the main series games. In Pokémon GO, Team GO Rocket will appear at PokéStops at times. When a PokéStop is darker blue and the cube on it is spinning, that means a member of Team GO Rocket is there. When you spin the stop, they will appear and challenge you.

The battles are standard Trainer Battles, but you have to use a team while they use two Pokémon at CP of around 2200-2500 and a final one of CP around 3200 for Great League, 3300-3500 for the first two and ~4500 for the final one for Ultra League and exceeeding that with Master League and higher making the battle very tough.

How To Beat Giovanni In Pokemon Go In May 2021

Pokemon GO temporarily suffered the loss of Team GO Rocket battles due to issues in the game last month, but the villains have returned along with their boss Giovanni in May 2021.

Before a player can get the opportunity to battle Giovanni, they must first get their hands on a Super Rocket Radar device. In order to do so, a trainer will be required to complete the Team GO Rocket special research task, “The Higher They Fly.”

In order to begin the battle you will need a Super Rocket Radar, which can be gained by completing the The Higher they Fly Special Research quest. There was a set of Timed Research for April as well, but that has expired. However, there will be a new quest for May 2021 so we will update here when that is available.

Once you have the Super Rocket Radar just equip it and youll begin your search ffor the Team GO Rocket Boss. If you use the Radar you can see a few places where he might show up, or he could appear right next to you or in a balloon. Some of the Stops highlighted by the Radar might have impostors, so either flee or fight them as you wish then continue the search. Eventually youll find him and the fight can begin, so lets break down the best counters against Giovanni and his Pokémon team.

How To Find Giovanni

In order to find Giovanni, you need to complete the An Inter-egg-sting Development Special Research, or the new A Seven-Colored Shadow Special Research.

Once you complete step 4 of the special research, you will get a Super Rocket Radar. It works like a regular Rocket Radar, but it tracks Giovanni, not GO Rocket leaders.

The Super Rocket Radar doesnt immediately lead you to Giovanni it displays locations of both decoy Grunts disguised as Giovanni and Giovannis actual Hideout. Youll need to approach each PokéStop and investigate yourself to find where Giovannis hiding.

You can receive Giovanni Special Research once per month.

Pokemon Go: Using The Super Rocket Radar To Spot Giovanni

In order to track down Giovanni in Pokemon GO, players will need to assemble a Super Rocket Radar. Before they can do this, they’ll need to assemble three standard Rocket Radars and take down Team GO Rocket Leaders Sierra, Cliff, and Arlo. Once Giovanni’s underbosses are out of the way, all that is left is to battle the maniacal kingpin himself.

To break down the process to find Giovanni, players will need three particular items in certain quantities in order to finally reach the penultimate battle:

Defeat grunts, assemble radars, defeat Arlo/Cliff/Sierra and then Giovanni’s appearance will be close at hand. Defeating him will be another story entirely, but it is nonetheless doable with the right Pokemon battle team at the ready.

How To Beat Team Go Rocket Leader Giovanni

The Founder of Team GO Rocket, Giovanni is the only one bringing in Legendary Shadow Pokémon. For the time being, however, his team is more limited than his Executives. His first Pokémon is always Persian and his last is currently Shadow Ho-Oh.

• Giovanni’s first Pokémon is Persian. The best Pokémon to counter Persian are Tyranitar, Machamp, Conkeldurr, Lucario, and Hariyama. However, you can also use this time to build up a charged attack for his second Pokémon.

• For his second Pokémon, Giovanni could bring Golem. As a Ground and Rock type, Grass and Water are the best bets, but it’s also weak to Fighting, Ground, Ice, and Steel. Some of the top counters include Torterra, Mega Gyarados, Swampert, Mega Venusaur, Kyogre, and Leafeon.

• If he brings Cloyster, this Water and Ice type takes increased damage from Electric, Fighting, Grass, and Rock type moves. Some of the top counters include Melmetal, Shadow Magmortar, Omastar, Arcanine, Regirock, and Lucario.

• Machamp could be his second Pokémon. Fairy, Flying, and Psychic types deal super effective damage to this pure Fighting type. Your best options for countering are Lugia, Mewtwo, Zapdos, Shadow Zapdos, Cresselia or Shadow Mewtwo.

• Giovanni’s third Pokémon is currently Shadow Ho-Oh. The Legendary Bird is a Flying and Fire type Pokémon so it is weak to Electric and Water, and has a quad weakness to Rock. Top counters include Mega Ampharos, Politoad, Mew, Swampert, Mega Gyarados, Shadow Raikou, and Mega Blastoise.

Tips For Beating Giovanni In Pokemon Go

At times, even when you have all the counters, you might end up barely beating Giovanni. This might cause you to spend extra revives and Potions. However, this can be reduced significantly, if you follow the following tips:

• Giovanni will use his shileds for the first two time. Therefore it is necessary that you make him use both of their shields while battling his first Pokemon, since the last two would be significantly harder. For this select your first Pokemon which not is a counter, but also has access to very fast Charged move i.e. one with low energy requirement. The type of Charged attack doesnt matter for the first two times- it should just be quick.
• Giovanni will stop attacking for short intervals in some situation. These pauses are quite viable, for you can overcharge your Charged move, to use on the next Pokemon. If used wisely, you can even prevent them from taking much of your HP. These are-
• After any shield is used
• After any Charged attack is used
• After switching of any Pokemon

Rewards For Defeating Giovanni In Pokmon Go

You will receive a variety of rewards for defeating Giovanni. This includes 5000 Stardust and a variety of healing items, such as Max Potions and Max Revives. There’s also a chance that you’ll receive a Unova Stone.

Best of all, however, you’ll be given the opportunity to catch a Legendary Shadow Pokémon.

Every month brings a new Shadow Legendary Pokémon. This means that, if there’s a particular Shadow Legendary Pokémon you want to add to your collection, then you must complete the Team Go Rocket Special Research quest for that month.

Completing The Take-Over Continues in January 2020, for example, would reward you with Shadow Moltres, but, if you completed the same story-line in another month, you’ll find yourself facing a different Shadow Legendary Pokémon.
