Pokmon Sword And Shield: The Ultimate Guide
It felt like it took a long time to come, but now the Galar region is here for you to explore. One thing’s for certain, there’s a lot of new features as well as returning features in Gen 8. But don’t worry. We’ll help guide you through everything. Without further ado here’s your ultimate guide to Pokémon Sword and Shield.
The latest Pokémon adventure
Pokémon Sword is one of the two latest Pokémon adventures. It takes place in the Galar region, which is inspired by the UK, and features three new starters, and brings back gym battles. Older Pokémon seem to make an appearance as well, so you’ll see some of your favorites.
Pokmon Sword And Shield Expansion Pass: Crown Tundra Expansion
Many Pokémon from previous generations that weren’t in the core Gen 8 game are returning with the Expansion Pass. If one of your favorites didn’t feature in the Galar Pokédex, you might just be able to capture it in the Crown Tundra. While the full list of Pokémon isn’t confirmed, a data leak emerged earlier this year that lines up with the Pokémon we’ve seen in trailers and official materials. For now, we’re going to include all Pokémon from the data leak, but note that some of them might not actually appear in the Crown Tundra and that a few more Pokémon might sneak in. Legendary and mythical Pokémon, as well as Ultra Beasts, are listed separately below.
How Do You Connect With Friends In Max Raid Battles
If there’s one thing that Sword & Shield managed to do better than most anything else, it’s the sheer number of ways that fans are able to play the generation eight titles with one another. Aside from battling each other, the Max Raid battles allow for a more cooperative means of utilizing multiplayer in the series that is also great for getting large amounts of XP and rare items.
One aspect of this game mode that some players have struggled with is connecting with their friends online since the friend mechanic in Sword & Shield isn’t as deep as in previous games in the series. Thankfully, the process to connect with friends is fairly simple, as you just have to press the + button in the main Max Raid menu to set a password, then other players can connect with you by setting the same password so long as all party’s internet settings are turned on. If players are trying to connect locally, the process is a little different and simply requires one person to select the Invite Other Players option with their internet settings turned off, then other players can join their Raid through the Y-Comm menu.

Dynamaxing In Sword And Shield
This is a new way to battle that involves making your Pokémon huge and more powerful. Players are only able to use this ability once per battle, and the Pokémon will only remain in its Dynamax form for three consecutive turns before returning to normal. Dynamaxing can be done during gym battles, raids, and trainer battles. You’re going to need to master Dynamaxing if you want to take on Max Raid Battles and effectively defeat gym leaders.

Pokemon Sword And Shield: Encounter Chaining Explained
November 20, 2019 by imbroken963
This Pokemon Sword & Shield Guide explains everything there is to know about Encounter Chaining to improve your odds at catching a Shiny Pokemon. This is a chapter of our complete Shiny Hunting Guide, so be sure to check out the main guide for even more optimizations with Shiny Catch Rates.
How Do The Chain Count And Number Of Times You Have Battled A Pokemon Work Together
Every time you encounter a Pokemon you have a chance at rerolling the encounter to be a Shiny Pokemon. The higher the chain the higher the chance at rerolling the chance at the Pokemon being shiny. The number of battles you have completed against that Pokemon will determine the amount of rerolls that you can get from hitting the chance at the reroll.

How Do You Find Friends In The Y
Unfortunately, there is no easy way to trade or battle your friends in Pokemon Sword and Shield, as the friend mechanic from previous titles is completely absent. This can be worked around by both players choosing to set a password for their request, but even this isn’t a guarantee as any random player who happens to input the same password could accidentally link instead. As of now, this has somewhat been alleviated as the password character count has increased from four to eight, but it’s still nowhere near as easy as it used to be.
Alcremie Uses Its Delicious Cream As A Defense Mechanism
“When attacked by an opponent, Alcremie will throw sweet-scented cream to distract them or temporarily blind them, giving itself time to escape. The cream it uses for this purpose has an incredibly powerful soothing effect, and any opponent that tries to eat the cream will rapidly lose the will to battle.”

What Are Pokmon Sword And Shield
Game Freak has finally released Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. Pokémon Let’s Go took cues from the mobile game Pokémon GO and streamlined the experience to be more accessible for everyone. Sword and Shield, on the other hand, plays like the traditional Pokémon RPGs that you’ve grown to love.
New Pokémon, new gym battles, new cities, and new challenges await.
How Many Pokemon In Sword And Shield
In Pokemon Sword and Shield, the Pokédex shows there are 400 total Pokemon. Of these 400 Pokemon, 80 are brand new and introduced through Sword and Shield . Doing the math, 320 Pokemon from previous games are returning in Pokemon Sword and Shield.
Prior to the release of Pokemon Sword and Shield, the games sparked controversy over the lack of a national dex. While there are a lot of Pokemon in Sword and Shield, there are also a lot that havent been included and cannot be ported from other titles like Pokemon: Lets Go Pikachu and Eevee. Again, there are 400 total Pokemon in Sword and Shield, 80 of which are new.
As of right now, Game Freak has no plans to add more Pokemon in the future, so what you see right now is what you get.
Now that you know how many Pokemon are in Sword and Shield, be sure to read through some of our previous guides including starter evolutions in Pokemon Sword and Shield.

How To Catch Shiny Pokmon In Sword And Shield: Shiny Pokmon Vs Super Shiny Pokmon
Several players have reported that they’ve found a brand new variant of shiny Pokémon. To be more precise, two different types of shiny Pokémon appear in Sword and Shield. One of them is much rarer than the other and has been dubbed “super shiny” by the internet. Regular shiny Pokémon pop out with stars glittering around them, whereas super shiny Pokémon appear with squares, as seen in the picture above.
Shiny Pokémon rarity has been split! Same 1:4096 odds to obtain a shiny, but there are two types of shiny. 15/16 show stars, 1/16 show squares. Square rarity is 1 in 65536!Basically, if your Trainer ID cleanly matches the PID , it will be squares rather than stars.
This has led data miners to jump into Sword and Shield’s coding to determine if the shiny odds have been affected. According to respected data miner Kurt, the odds of catching shinies are still 1/4096. However, 15/16 shiny Pokémon will show stars, whereas only 1/16 shiny Pokémon will show squares. That makes super shinies super rare to come across with only a chance of 1/65536!
If you happen to catch one of these ultra-rare Pokémon, let us know! We’d love to hear about it.
Are The L And R Buttons Useless
It can be easy to ignore the L and R buttons, but they have many functions that can make menu navigation much easier. For one, pressing the R button in the bag menu will scroll that particular bag pocket down one frame, making reaching the bottom of the list much easier. Doing this on the map menu will also cycle through each town players have visited and can make it easier to find certain locations that can be fast travelled to.

Can You Have Multiple Saves
The save data for every game on the Switch is linked to the particular user profile the game is opened under, meaning if players create a new user profile, they can start a new game without losing the progress they have already made. This is a very easy way for players who don’t have many people to trade with to obtain all three starter Pokemon, as well as getting multiples of one-off Pokemon like the cover legendaries and Eternatus. Players can also transfer between different save files by using Pokemon Home, as it is linked to that particular game rather than the user profile.
Pokmon Sword Or Shield: Which Is The Very Best For You
Pokémon Sword or Shield? For anyone thats looking into starting an adventure in the eighth generation of Pokémon then thats the first decision you need to make, even before you can get to the exciting moment of choosing your starter Pokémon.
Having players choose between two versions of the same game has long been a quirk of the Pokémon series and thats not changed with these latest releases on Nintendo Switch. While the core experience of the games tends to be the same across the versions, there are some differences between them that its worth knowing about before you decide which one you’re going to buy.
In fact, when it comes to Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, there are more version differences than there ever have been. While previous iterations maybe had some version-exclusive Pokémon or locations, in Sword and Shield there are also version-exclusive Gyms, characters and even curry ingredients.
With that in mind, weve detailed the differences between both versions of the latest Pokémon games, as well as both DLC releases, so that you can quickly and easily decide whether you want Pokémon Sword or Shield.

What Is The Total Number Of Pokemon In Sword And Shield
While fans had been prepared to see many of their favorite past Pokemon left out of Sword and Shield after Game Freak revealed the games would have no National Dex , Game Freak never announced exactly how many Pokemon would be in Sword and Shield. According to leaks and datamines, it turns out the final number is fairly low compared to previous entries.
A previous Pokemon Sword and Shield Pokedex leak reported that the game would have exactly 400 Pokemon in the regional Galar Pokedex only three less than that of Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon . Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon also had access to the National Pokedex, however, meaning that although not all Pokemon could be caught in-game, all 807 Pokemon that existed at the time were playable . Pokemon Sword and Shield do not have this ability, indicating players would be limited to just 400 Pokemon, less than half of the franchises total roster. This caused controversy in the Pokemon community, with fans upset about missing entries.
Neither the 400 or 435 numbers seem to include Gigantamax forms or other alternate forms of Pokemon. If you include every single form of any Pokemon available in Sword and Shield , the total number is 569.
