Pokemon Diamond And Pearl Remake 2021

Pokmon Diamond And Pearl Remake Trailer

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl – Official Trailer

Official trailerPokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl were first shown off during the February 2021 Pokémon Presents showcase, announced alongside a trailer demonstrating the games art style and gameplay primarily.

The games aesthetic in the overworld very much mimics that of the original Nintendo DS release, with deformed chibi style characters navigating basic 3D environments. Things change in battle, though, as characters take on more realistic proportions alongside the full-sized Pokémon models.

As such, the Pokémon Diamond and Pearl remakes look to be quite faithful to the originals, albeit with a high-definition 3D overhaul to the graphics while throwing in some fairly impressive lighting effects. Some cinematic battle animations were also shown off in the trailer, and look to be at least somewhat of an improvement over Pokémon Sword and Shields efforts, where the animations were criticized for being reused and underwhelming for the first HD mainline Pokémon title.

Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl Sold Just Shy Of 14 Million Units In Three Days

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl have become the second biggest Switch launch of all time in Japan.

Having launched on November 19, 2021, the remakes sold almost 1.4 million units in three days in the country, according to data from Famitsu.

The only Switch game that did better was unsurprisingly Animal Crossing: New Horizons back in March 2020, with 1.8 million copies sold in three days.

As a comparison, the original 2006 Pokémon Diamond and Pearl had sold 1.5 million units in four days in Japan, Famitsu said.

This is physical sales only and doesn’t include data from the Switch eShop though Nintendo Life pointed out that the digital versions are already listed as best sellers in the eShop.

Looking at hardware sales, the Switch sold 168,000 units during Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl’s launch week, a sharp increase compared to the previous week with 87,000 units sold.

The Nintendo Switch has now sold 22 million units in Japan since launch.

In the UK, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl was the second biggest boxed game launch of 2021 behind FIFA 22, and the biggest Switch release of the year, beating Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury.

The rumored and heavily hinted at remakes for the fourth generation of Pokémon games, Diamond and Pearl, were been officially announced during todays Pokémon Presents event. The remakes, called Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, will be releasing sometime in late 2021.

The games feature updated graphics and will follow the steps of previous Pokémon game remakes. These will be faithful recreations of the original games that were released 15 years ago. The project is being developed by ILCA, the team that created the Pokémon Home system.

Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl will be coming to the Nintendo Switch. They wont feature the heavily updated graphics compared to Pokémons most recent release, Sword and Shield, but they will be heavily updated to fit Nintendos modern platform.

While the exploring and overworld may not match Sword and Shields environments, the combat appears to be on par with the most recent Pokémon game, which will likely be extremely appealing for anyone who has never played this generation before. From what we know so far, it doesnt look like any new Pokémon were added to these remakes.

Even though the announcement was rumored to be in the making for several months, its good to see Game Freak make it official. Its even more exciting to see this remake come to the Nintendo Switch platform.

This Pokmon Diamond And Pearl Comparison Is Excellent

The Pokémon Company recently confirmed the upcoming remaster of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl during a Pokémon presents and it has the community divided. Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl sparked some controversy with fans who didnt play the originals but fans from the DS era were familiar with the chibi approach to the graphic design. Pokémon Sword& Shield are available exclusively for the Nintendo Switch right now, while Pokémon Diamond and Pearl are coming later this year.

Pokémon Diamond and Pearl are not being made by Game Freak, but instead, its being developed by ILCA, with the original director Junichi Masuda overseeing production. YouTube channel GameXplain quickly produced a side-by-side comparison between the original Pokémon Diamond and Pearl games and Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. This visual comparison showed any doubters of the upcoming remakes that the original art design is carrying forward to the Nintendo Switch rather than ILCA adopting an entirely new style, the Lets Go style, etc.

While Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl turned off a lot of new fans of Pokémon with its small characters reminiscent of the recent remaster of The Legend of Zelda: Links Awakening, it looks like the team is remaining true to the original design. When shown side-by-side, the footage of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl does a great job of showing the similarities and the differences between new and old.

The Battle Frontier In Diamond and Pearl Remakes / 2021 Pokemon Game?

Nintendo is giving away a Pokemon Diamond-themed outfit for your trainer if you purchase the game before February 21, 2022. You’ll simply need to use the Mystery Gift in-game tool to receive the outfit in Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl.

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are not being developed by Game Freak but rather Ilca, which also worked on Pokemon Home. However, Game Freak’s Junichi Masuda, who directed the original games, is returning as director on the remakes alongside Ilca’s Yuichi Ueda.

The Gen 4 remakes have an adorable chibi art style with squat characters, though in battle, the Pokemon trainers will appear in a more realistically proportioned form. Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl also retain the classic top-down perspective. According to Nintendo, these are “faithful remakes” of the 2007 games, and “the sense of scale of the original games’ towns and routes has been carefully preserved.” This is a different approach from previous Pokemon remakes–instead of completely modernizing Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, the development team is leaning into nostalgia and sticking much closer to the classic look and feel of the Gen 4 titles.

We Didnt Start With Fire

ILCAs faithfulness to the original Diamond and Pearl extends to the original pairs weaknesses, too, and nowhere does the commitment surface more conflicting emotions than in the roster of Pokémon you can build your team from. Diamond and Pearl have an utterly bizarre slate of Pokémon partners, skewed heavily toward a handful of types that make it challenging to assemble anything resembling a balanced group without being railroaded into using a few specific staples .

Thats still mostly the case in the Brilliant and Shining versions. ILCA devoutly stuck to the original roster monsters for the main story, with the rest unlocked in post-game and, frankly, some of the original Diamond and Pearl Pokémon line-up kind of stinks! While Platinums expanded roster is available for capture if you make enough visits to the Grand Underground and hunt long and hard enough, they dont appear on the surface where most of the story takes place, and it can be tricky to sniff out the exact partners you want to balance your team. Meanwhile, above ground, every other Pokémon is a Geodude, and there still arent enough fire-types to properly counter the hundred or so Bronzor youll inevitably have to fight.

Being back in the world of Sinnoh has been a pleasure. Its been 15 years since the original Diamond and Pearl and 13 years since Pokémon Platinum , so I havent made the trip to Sinnoh since I was in high school.

Developer ILCA did an excellent job remaking Diamond and Pearl and bringing an adorable aesthetic to its world.

BDSP are perfect remakes that add subtle touches of modern flavour in all the best ways.

However, I wanted to see a bit more of an update that includes Megas like Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, or, at the very least, newer Pokémon like in HeartGold and SoulSilver.

Dont get me wrong, Im still loving Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, but Im also a die-hard fan of Pokémon, and I can see why many might decide to skip this adventure and wait for Pokémon Legends: Arceus when it releases on January 28th. On the other hand, some might just be looking for a nostalgic trip down memory lane, and if thats what youre looking for, BDSP are perfect remakes that add subtle touches of modern flavour in all the best ways.

How Many Pokmon Are In The Gen 4 Remakes

Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Nintendo Switch remakes to ...

We don’t really know just yet. The original Diamond and Pearl Sinnoh Pokédex featured 151 Pokémon, while the games’ National Pokédex featured over 490 Pokémon for players to catch. It’s possible that these same 490 creatures will be the only monsters we encounter in the remakes. However, it’s also possible that additional Pokémon could be included in the postgame.

After all, Diamond and Pearl were originally released on the DS in 2006, and Platinum followed three years later, bringing with it a handful of new Pokémon. Not to mention, four generations and hundreds of Pokémon have been added to the Pokémon universe since these DS games’ release.

Will Pokmon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl Release In 2021

A full remake of the Sinnoh games was revealed alongside Arceus, and they’re currently scheduled for release in late 2021. Titled Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Pokémon Shining Pearl, these games feature a chibi art style ripped straight off the Nintendo DS. This has caused some controversy among fans. While some people think it evokes the originals and compliments the more outgoing Pokémon Legends: Arceus, others have found it to be a step backwards in terms of graphics. Either way, players can expect a full redo of Pokémon‘s first dual-screen adventure by the end of this year.

With two huge Nintendo Switch releases on the horizon, Pokémon fans have plenty to look forward to. There is some question as to whether Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl can recapture the unique aspects of the Sinnoh region and the Nintendo DS hardware, but players will have to see more gameplay before they decide for themselves. Since these remakes are coming out of a studio outside of Game Freak, perhaps there will be more room for fine-tuning and experimentation. The adventures must remain faithful to the classic games, but recent Pokémon announcements have shown that there’s always room for improvement in an old formula.

National Pokdex Vs Sinnoh Pokdex Understanding Og Exclusives

I’ve listed original Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum exclusives in the following sections, followed by the Sinnoh Pokédex. In order to understand the original DS games’ exclusives, you have to understand that Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum had a Sinnoh Pokédex and also a National Pokédex that unlocked in the postgame.

The Sinnoh Pokédex was made up of 151 Pokémon including the Gen 4 starters. Once players beat the elite four, saw all of the 151 Pokémon in the Sinnoh dex, and talked to Professor Rowan, Professor Oak would come into the lab and unlock the National Pokédex made up of 493 Pokémon. This is basically every Pokémon from Gen I through Gen IV. Some Pokémon within the National Pokédex are version exclusives. Meaning that some version exclusive Pokémon aren’t listed in the Sinnoh Pokédex.
