Pokemon Go Community Day Vote

Community Day has changed in Pokemon GO | We now vote | Rhyhorn, Machop, Vulpix or Dratini

As far as the game itself is concerned, this vote is impacting two specific dates in Pokemon GO over the next two months. The first date is September 20, 2020, which will be the Community Day event for the winner, Porygon. The cool part is that if you evolve a Community Day Porygon all the way to Porygon-Z, youll get Tri Attack, which will be brand new to Pokemon GO. This is a Normal-type attack, and can decrease an opponents Attack and Defense. Theres no doubt the allure of a totally new move to try out drew votes.

Trainers, its time to cast your vote! The two Pokémon with the most votes will be the featured Pokémon for our next two Community Day events! #PokemonGOCommunityDay

Pokémon GO

Then, on October 17, the runner-up Charmander will get the Community Day spotlight treatment. Charmander wont be seeing any new features, but it will get a unique move other Charmanders wont have naturally. Once you evolve a Community Day-caught Charmander up to Charizard, it will learn Dragon Breath. Not only is Dragon Breath a great move to counter Dragon-type Pokemon, its a Fast Attack, which means youll be able to toss it out during a match relatively quickly.

Sadly, fans of Butterfree and Muk are going to have to wait for another day, in the hopes that a new opportunity to see a special move come to these two will manifest. And as usual, Community Day events also bring on other neat bonuses, but niantic hasnt revealed that information yet.

Community Day Move: Dragon Breath

The original Pseudo-dragon of Generation 1 is being given the opportunity to wield a Dragon type fast move in preparation for its future Fire/Draon Type Mega Evolution Mega Chartizard X. This move is lackluster in PvE, where it will put Mega Charizard X behind Reshiram as a draon-type attacker, but in PvP it’s absolutely one of the defining moves of the game with its powerful 4 Damage per Turn and 3 Energy per Turn profile. It’s fast and furious, and could give Charizard a new offensive niche, while securing Mega Charizard X as a serious threat moving forward… though a lot of Pokemon currently learn this move as-is…

Genshin Impact Still Refuses To Increase Anniversary Rewards Despite Fan Outcry

Previous starters havent done all that well in these polls, but Charmander is different. Charmander evolves into the stylish and powerful Black Charizard, complete with Blast Burn as a Community Day move. Not only that, but its set to receive a mega evolution once that feature makes it into the game, which should be pretty soon.

And then weve got Porygon, a Pokémon I spent endless hours looking for when the game first came out but have got plenty of since. It evolves first into PorygonZ and then Porygon2, and its among the stranger Pokemon of the original 151. And while most committed players have had their Porygon2 for a little while, its definitely the rarest of this set.

So in all likelihood, these will be our Pokémon for Community Day in September and October. Theres still time for a ridiculous upset, however, so if #TeamGrimer wants to make a push to get things together and take the day, now would be the time. Youve got until 6:00 PM Pacific tomorrow, August 23, to cast your vote. In the meantime, pour one out for Caterpie, which I think has a lot of moxie for a little worm.

How To Prepare For Pokmon Go Community Day

First of all, the secret allure of Community Day is the introduction of a shiny version of the highlighted Pokémon, which will have a boosted rate during the event. That, combined with the increased spawns, makes it easy to get a a handful of shinies across the six hours.

Remember, unlike high IV Pokémon, shinies dont appear in the same place for everyone like high-IV Pokémon theres a random chance of each one you encounter could be a shiny. If youre struggling, try shiny checking, by tapping a Pokémon, then backing out without catching, then moving on to the next.

Second, there will be bonus Field Research. Community Days also have their own special Field Research tasks based on the specific Pokémon the day is highlighting. The rewards are usually just consumable items Berries and the like but its an additional thing to complete as you play.

Third, every Community Day offers 3-Hour Lures. This is the perfect day to catch as many Pokémon as physically possible, and with the increased spawn rate, increase your chances of finding a shiny.

The best way to take advantage of these bonuses is to find a set of PokéStops that are in quick walking distance or one another. You can then set up a Lure Module in one and then walk between the PokéStops taking advantage of the Lure and ensuring that you dont run out of Poké Balls or Berries.

Let Us Choose Better Options

Have you ever seen the Pokémon of the Yearvoting process? Every year Pokémon fans get to choose which Pokémon they think deserves this award. For example, Greninja was 2020s winner:

Im not saying we should be able to choose from the full Pokédex , but perhaps voting among a larger list as a first draft and then choosing the 4 most popular options to do the final voting would be a nice alternative. Trainers would feel like their opinion is being taken into account and their voices are being heard.

Oh, and I almost forgot An in-app voting system would be great! Not everyone has a Twitter account, and this has been a common complaint in previous CD polls. Itd be amazing to see the results live, dont you think?
