Lets Go Pikachu: Your Own Eevee

Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu and Eevee Review

If you dont want to choose between Eevee and Pikachu and are okay with one that you cant dress up, then do keep in mind that there are other Eevees you can get in both versions. Going to Route 17, you will be able to find them in both Lets Go games, but with a rare rate of showing up.

Theyre hard to find, but you arent completely locked off from Eevees if you go with Lets Go, Pikachu. Also, unlike the starter Eevee, you can evolve captured Eevees regardless of your game into Jolteon, Vaporeon, and Flareon too.

Pokmon Let’s Throw Stuff Instead Of Fighting

It’s natural to be mistrustful of Pokémon Let’s Go. It’s a funny-looking game at first glance seemingly more like a glorified app than a full experience. Though your quest to parade around Kanto and become a Pokémon Master is unchanged from 1996’s Pokémon Red and Blue , you don’t get into random scuffles by wading through tall grass. Instead, Pokémon spawn in the reeds and amble around. You can avoid them entirely, though be prepared for some of them to wander away from their spawning point and directly into your path.

The elimination of random encounters is one oddity in Pokémon Let’s Go, but engaging in a “battle” with a wild Pokémon is even stranger. There’s no struggle to weaken the Pokémon with the help of your tamed crew. Instead, you proceed directly to the PokéBall-lobbing portion of the process.

Better-quality balls result in easier catches. Some Pokémon jump or fly around, so moving your Joy-Cons can help you line up a better shot. You can also move your Switch around if you’re playing in handheld mode. When you’re ready to throw down, execute a throwing motion with your Joy-Con or PokéBall accessory to make the shot, or press “A” if you prefer. Hold your breath while the ensnared Pokémon wiggles back and forth. Exhale in relief or bark a curse according to the outcome of the hunt. If things don’t go your way and you need to try again, consider using a Razz Berry to calm down your quarry and make it easier to catch.

Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! are 2018 remakes of the 1998 Game Boy Colorrole-playing video gamePokémon Yellow. They were developed by Game Freak and jointly published by The Pokémon Company and Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch. Announced in May 2018, Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! were released worldwide for the Nintendo Switch on 16 November 2018. The games are part of the seventh generation of the Pokémon video game series and are the first of such to be released for a home game console. They feature connectivity with the mobile game Pokémon Go and support an optional controller, the Poké Ball Plus.

Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! were first announced at a Japanese press conference in May 2018, with the intention for the games to bring in newcomers to the series as well as cater to old fans. They were also meant to appeal to a younger audience for this reason, the games incorporate elements from the anime, similarly to Pokémon Yellow. They received generally favorable reviews from critics, with praise directed to the accessibility and charm, whilst criticism was directed towards the motion controls. The games have combined worldwide sales of over 13 million as of December 2020, making them one of the best-selling games for the system.

What’s Similar To Previous Games

Pokémon Lets Go Eevee (Switch) Review

If you’ve ever played a Pokémon video game before, the first few steps like naming your character or choosing your gender and skin tone are the same so things will feel very familiar. After exploring your home a little, you’ll try to leave town only to run into Professor Oak, go back to his lab, and get your first Pokémon a Pikachu in “Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu!”or an Eevee in“Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!”. Both versions still feel generally like a Pokémon game and you’ll immediately know what’s going to happen and when, but now you’ll get to see it play out on your TV in beautifully rendered 3-D graphics.

There are slight changes to the game that make it easy for newbies to catch on quick, but there are more similarities than there are differences. You’ll still fight Team Rocket, battle gym leaders, and make your way through the Elite Four. Eventually, you’ll still be able to catch the ultra-rare Mewtwo and attempt to complete your Pokédex. You’ll also get the opportunity to train and evolve the original three starters, so if you’re a fan of Pikachu, Charmander, and Bulbasaur, don’t feel like they’re absent from the game.

Lets Go Pikachu And Eevee: Pokmon Go Connectivity

The Lets Go! titles first leg up over FireRed and LeafGreen is their ability to connect with Pokémon Go! How dare a GBA game not be able to do the same? This functionality allows you to send just about any Generation One Pokémon to the games that youd like. This includes the brand new legendary Pokémon, Meltan, who can only be acquired through Go.

Pokemon Lets Go Pikachu:

  • Meowth
  • Persian

Pokemon Lets Go will also allow players to import creatures from Pokemon GO, so exclusivity is not at all that important unlike in previous games. Moreover, trading creatures between two players will also be available via Wi-Fi, but it is worth remembering that an active subscription to Nintendo Switch Online is required to access that feature.

  • Vulpix/Ninetales
  • Meowth/Persian

So, if youre an Arcanine kind of person, maybe Lets Go Pikachu is for you. If you like Persian and Victreebel, you should consider looking into Eevee. However, its important to remember that you can import Pokemon from Pokemon Go, so exclusivity wont be as much of an issue as it used to be. Im getting Eevee knowing full well that I can import five Arcanines from Pokemon Go. While you used to have to trade your best Pokemon to your mates in order to convince them to give you an exclusive Pokemon from their game, you can now manage it yourself by importing from Pokemon Go.

Importing Pokemon is essential to evolving Meltan into Melmetal anyway, so its definitely a solid use of your time. Therefore, the exclusive Pokemon might seem like a huge deal given its impact on the series historically speaking, but its actually a relatively minor difference this time around.

Shiny Hunting Spot Them In The Overworld

Pokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu And Let’s Go Eevee Review

Shiny Pokémon, or alternately colored Pokémon, have been around since Pokémon Gold and Silver, but its been a little more recently that the fan base really started to understand what made these encounters more likely. In the Let’s Go games, if players catch 25+ of the same Pokémon in a row, their chances of getting shiny Pokémon goes up significantly.

Additionally, this is currently the only game that allows you to tell if a Pokémon is shiny in the overworld. Granted, catching shinies can still take hours, but it’s nice being able to do it a little easier with Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! Make sure you transfer them into Pokémon Home once you’ve acquired them.

Pokmon: Lets Go Pikachu & Eevee Review A Childrens Classic Refreshed

Nintendo Switch The Pokémon Company/Game FreakWith the gameplay of Pokémon Go, this bright and beautiful update welcomes a new generation of trainers to a world of wholesome fun

A beloved childhood film can easily be shared with the next generation, but the cherished video games of 1990s children can now look off-puttingly primitive, even if theyre as fun to play as ever. Super Mario and Sonic the Hedgehogs early outings might have weathered the years well, but Pokémon: Red and Blue, a foundational text of the millennial generation, has not. The originals were, after all, played on a two-inch Game Boy screen.

Pokémon: Lets Go Eevee! and Lets Go Pikachu! are transformational remakes of those 20-year-old games for the Nintendo Switch, with bright, beautiful cartoon graphics and characterful animation to replace the squat, monochrome pixel approximations of 1997s Kanto. And yet the imagination and wonder of these creatures and this world, in which kids venture out to find their own destiny in the company of loyal, adorable pets, is as potent as ever. Collecting and battling the original 150-odd creatures, assembling a special team of six to take on Gym Leaders and the Elite Four to become the worlds best Pokémon trainer is, in retrospect, a fable about persistence, loyalty and self-determination.

Eevee: El Apoyo Perfecto

Pokmon: Lets Go Pikachu And Lets Go Eevee Review Nostalgic Charm With A Few Strange Changes

I first learned about Pokémon in elementary school after hearing two classmates argue about whether Raichu or Electabuzz was the better Electric-type Pokémon. It didnt take long before my parents bought my brothers Pokémon Blue and Pokémon Red, respectively, and then gave me Pokémon Yellow. I absolutely love those games and have played them more times than I know along with every subsequent Pokémon game since through Pokémon Sword and Shield.

Fast forward 20 years later and Pokémon has developed into the highest-grossing media franchise in the world instead of simply being a passing trend. To celebrate, Game Freak released Pokémon: Lets Go, Pikachu! and Lets Go, Eevee! on Nintendo Switch in 2018. While you do travel around the original games Kanto region and only encounter the first 151 Pokémon, this is not a remaster. For one thing, these Switch games employ a catching style reminiscent ofPokémon Gos mechanics. On top of that, you dont get to choose the original starters in this very simplified version of the original games.

Pokmon Let’s Go For This Again

Pokémon Let

Though I never regarded Pokémon Let’s Go’s preview material with any disdain, I admittedly didn’t think too hard about the game, either. I always intended to try it, but I entered Kanto expecting a casual experience for very young children. Several hours later, I was as captive as a Kakuna sealed in an Ultra Ball.

I’m still unsure about Pokémon Let’s Go’s newfangled way of capturing wild Pokémon, and I’m going to be heartbroken if Gen VIII’s Pokémon animation doesn’t exit N64 territory. Otherwise, Pokémon Let’s Go is a great remake of an RPG classic, and it wouldn’t hurt my feelings to see Johto, Sinnoh, or Unova get the Let’s Go treatment.

Pokemon Let’s Go is engineered to let youngsters play along with their parents, but there’s a lot here for veterans to enjoy, too. It’s relentlessly cute and colorful, and while the challenge level won’t blister your skin, the new Coach Trainers will keep you hopping. We’re still not sure about the Go-style method of catching wild Pokemon, but Pokemon Let’s Go’s ability to link-up to Niantic’s app offers a quick and easy way to fill out your PokeDex. Game Freak is clearly getting the hang of the Switch, so bring on Gen VIII!

Pokmon Let’s Go Pikachu And Let’s Go Eeveefull Review

As Nintendo works through bringing just about every major franchise it has to the Nintendo Switch, the latest in line is Pokémon. Rein in your expectations a little though: this isnt the next full mainline RPG . Instead Pokémon Lets Go, Pikachu! and Lets Go, Eevee! are Pokémon Go-inspired entry points to the series.

Both of the Lets Go games launched on the Switch on 16 November. Which version you buy will mostly affect which of the two Pokémon hangs out with your character through the game, though in Pokémon tradition they each also have slightly different Pokémon available to catch throughout.

You can buy the games now, so if youre in the UK check it out on , Game, or the Nintendo store, while in the US you probably want , Best Buy, or GameStop. Keep an eye on our regularly updated guide to the best Switch deals for the latest on potential discounts and savings on either the console or games.

Theres also the Poké Ball Plus to consider. This £49.99/$49.99 accessory is essentially a mini, simplified Joy-Con which you can use to play the entirety of the Lets Go games. If thats not enough to catch your attention, you also get the legendary Pokémon Mew for use in-game, and you can use it to play Pokémon Go with your smartphone too.

Give Me Your Money And Your Poke Balls

Even when I wasnt using my ultra-powerful Pikachu, early on I almost always felt like I could steamroll any opponent so long as I had the right type matchup. This felt like it evened out after I got my third Pokemon badge, but still, the rock-paper-scissors battle system seems more extreme than ever. I felt like I trained a handful of Pokemon rather well throughout my adventure, but I was still surprised when they took out one of the Elite Fours Pokemon in one hit. When Pokemon: Lets Go says something is super effective, its not messing around. Again, this is supposed to be an easier Pokemon game, so I understand that this is trying to reward you more for using the correct type matchup. Its not bad, just surprising.

In keeping this more approachable, I appreciated how areas around tougher trainers are designed. In the Rock Tunnel, for instance, I came across two Ace Trainers in a row. One is a mandatory battle, but the other was on an optional side path and not far from those two was a free Super Potion. In places like these I could tell Game Freak sets is up for success without explicitly telling us what to do. That extra challenge is up to you, and I think trainers looking for more difficulty will appreciate it.
