Whats Good Against Bug Pokemon

Battling against bug Pokemon is usually a breeze except with a few notable exceptions where their secondary typing gives them useful resistances and type advantages.

GameFreak hasnt been kind to bug type Pokemon. In general, they rank toward the bottom of every stat. To make matters worse, many types resist bug type attacks.

Ice: Most Waters Can Learn Ice Moves

Probably the greatest disadvantage to Ice types is that most Water types can learn Ice moves. Considering this you have the option of teaching a powerful Ice move to a weak defenseless Ice Pokémon or a robust tanky Water Pokémon.

Whatever justifications you had for hanging onto an Ice Pokémon go entirely out the window when you look at the powerful and capable Water Pokémon who can learn their moves and suffer none of their flaws. As much as you want Kyurem to be your fighter, keep him on the sidelines and teach those powerful Ice moves to a powerful Water Pokémon.

Every Pokmon Has A Type

Every Pokémon in Pokémon Sword and Shield has at least one of the 18 types in the game. Some Pokémon, like the Hootoot, even have two types. The entire list of types found in the game are as follows:

  • Steel
  • Water

You can see what type a particular Pokémon is by looking in your Pokédex or your menu once you encountered the Pokémon in the game.

Even more importantly, every move in the game also has a type, so although you may have a Grass Pokémon like Grookey , youll notice that the moves it knows vary by type.

Certain attack types do more damage to certain types of Pokémon, while certain others will do less. There are even some attack types that wont affect certain Pokémon types at all.

What Pokemon Have A Good Defense Against Dark Type Pokemon

Which Pokemon is best against the Bug

These two types have a good defense against Dark Type Pokemon.

Use them when the opponent pulls out a formidable dark type foe!

  • Ghost Type Pokemon

Ghost Type Pokemon rely mostly on their physical moves, but also have some special moves in their arsenal if the fight asks that of them.

However, Ghost Type Pokemon are immune to being caught up in any trapping move. Because of this, they are especially strong against Dark Type Pokemon.

Moreover, their defense mechanism against special attacks is also good, which is another weakness for Dark Pokemon.

  • Dark Type Pokemon

Dark Type Pokemon also have a good defense against other Dark Pokemon.

However these counters are a little hard to remember because a particular type of pokemon counters the other. But generally you can keep it in your head that Dark Type Pokemon also have a good defense against themselves.

Just dont use a Psychic Pokemon in front of a Dark Type and youre good to go!

  • 1

Since the very beginning the Pokémon series has depended on a delicate Rock-Paper-Scissors-style balance to its Pokémon battles. Type effectiveness is a key part of building an effective team in Pokémon GO or Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, or Pokémon Sword and Shield or any of the other Pokémon games. Once you know the basic strengths and weaknesses of the different types, you’ll easily triumph against any Pokémon type you come across in battle.

Every Pokémon belongs to at least one Type and will be strong or weak against other types. Some are pretty obvious – it’s no surprise that Water-type Pokémon will be strong against Fire types, but new players coming to Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl may have trouble committing the strengths and weaknesses of the 18 main types to memory. Therefore, we’ve produced the following Pokémon type chart to help you quickly suss out what’s what when it comes to Pokémon battles.

In this guide, well help you understand how Pokémon types relate to each other, how the mobile game calculates attack strength and key ways in which this differs from the console game series.

Pokmon Type Effectiveness And Weakness Chart

Our type chart presents the 18 Pokémon types in attack and defence scenarios. To use it, simply find your Pokémons type to see what its attacks are strong and weak against, and what it is resistant and vulnerable to when defending. This chart is designed for use with Pokémon GO, but the general strength/weakness information holds true for most every Pokémon game.

  • Types bolded in square brackets are subject to a further cut in effectiveness in the mainline games these are outright immunities
  • If a type is not listed, damage is neutral
  • The strength of an attack is increased if the attack type is strong against both types of a dual type Pokémon
  • Type resistance and vulnerability effectively cancel each other out on dual type Pokémon
Attack

Bug, Dark, , Fighting

Poison, Steel

Note that attack and defence type relationships are not identical e.g. types may be resistant to types when defending that they are not super effective against when attacking.

Remember, things get even more interesting when Pokémon of dual types crop up and you have to factor in additional strengths and weaknesses.

Ice: One Resistance Themselves

Unlike every other Pokémon type in the game Ice Pokémon only have one resistance, other Ice Pokémon. This singular resistance against themselves makes Ice Pokémon the worst defensive Pokémon you could have on your team.

Whats worse is that because Ice Pokémon arent all that great you will rarely if ever find yourself enjoying that resistance. If you planned on making an Ice Pokémon part of your defensive lineup then their lack of resistances should make you reconsider.

What Is Weak To What

If youre here, you probably dont know the type weaknesses and resistances. Also, maybe you dont know that when a pokmon uses an attack of its type, like if an elecrtic pokmon uses an electric attack, the damage is multiplied by 1.5. Well, here are the types:

Normal is a plain type. Some people say its useless, but others say its great. Id say Normal type pokmon are good, many of them have good status and they have only one weakness, Fighting, and are competely immune to Ghost, although they resist no other type. Normal type attacks, however, are not as good. No type is weak to them, but Ghost is immune to Normal and Rock and Steel resist it. But Normal attacks can be the solution to your problems anyway, as most pokmon can learn Normal attacks and many of them are strong. The Normal type is a physical type, so all Normal attacks are counted as physical attacks.

Fire is a hot type. Fire is a powerful type that should be on every team. Scizor and Forretress, both very common in teams, are only weak to Fire. Fire is super effective on Bug, Steel, Grass and Ice and is not very effective on Fire, Water, Rock and Dragon. No type is immune to Fire. Water, Rock and Ground are super effective on Fire pokmon and Fire, Grass, Bug, Ice and Steel are not very effective on them. The Fire type is a special type, so all Fire attacks are counted as special attacks.
