Unfortunately, these three Eeveelutions remain entirely random.

Unlike some of the others, Niantic hasnt changed the evolution method for these three and its simply a case of having 25 Eevee Candies, hitting the evolve button and hoping for the best.

The only other option relies on players not having used the naming trick, which is highly unlikely as it was discovered over five years ago.

However, for those who havent, used the trick yet, its simple. Naming your Eevee either Pyro, Sparky or Rainer and then evolving it will cause it to evolve into either Flareon, Jolteon or Vaporeon respectively.

Just remember, this is a one-time use deal, so use it wisely.

What You Need To Know About The Names Of Eevees Evolution In Pokmon Go

Pokémon Go: How to get Leafeon, Glaceon, and all the Eevee ...

What is the reason for changing the name to Sakura, Tamao, Sparky Rainer and Pyro? The three original names are of the Eevee brothers from the television series, who meet Ash and company in episode 40 where they show their respective evolutions. Sakura and Tamao appear later in the anime.

Once you have called Eevee one of the three names above, you must restart the app to make sure that the process worked, as the servers can sometimes prove to be treacherous.

Once you have verified that the name you entered has not disappeared, then Eevee evolves as you would any other Pokémon and it should take the shape of the type you chose.

You can see the trick in action below.

Note that although many users have successfully performed this method, there are a handful of cases where it has not worked. Some say the method works only the first time you evolve the creature, while others have experienced problems with the server in changing the Pokémons name, so its best to make sure everything is fine before proceeding.

Pokmon Go Cp Explained: What Is Cp And How Is Cp Calculated

CP, or Combat Points, is a measure of how strong your Pokémon will be in battle against another Pokémon, and is actually a combination of several hidden stats. Each Pokémon in Pokémon Go has a set of Base Stats for Attack, Defence, and Stamina, along with a hidden Level and a hidden modifier for those Base Stats, known as a Pokémon’s IVs.

It’s not worth going into too much detail on how all of those stats work but they can essentially be explained with a nice little analogy about dogs:

Greyhounds, often used for dog racing, are a naturally fast breed of dog. Bulldogs, not so fast. Just like Greyhounds are naturally speedy, Dragonites, as a Pokémon species, have naturally high Attack – or, in other words, a naturally high Base Stat for Attack – contrast that with Machokes which, despite having decent Attack, are somewhat puny by comparison.

However, every now and then you might get a Greyhound that is so slow, and a Bulldog that is so fast, that out of these two individual dogs the Bulldog is actually faster.

So, in Pokémon Go, you might get such a naturally low-Attack Dragonite, and naturally high-Attack Machoke, that you’ll hit the point where the Machoke actually has a higher overall Attack than the Dragonite. That’s because the Individual Values of the Machoke – basically its genes – are considerably stronger than those of the Dragonite.

How To Evolve Eevee Into Umbreon And Espeon In Pokmon Legends: Arceus

Umberon and Espion are pretty easy to evolve.

All of Eevees evolutions are in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, and Umberon and Espeon have evolution methods similar to other Pokémon series games.

The only way to evolve Eevee into either Umbreon or Espeon without having access to space-time distortions is to max out their friendship levels during different times during the day.

For Espeon, it must be max level friendship and evolved during the day, which is easy to do with Legends: Arceus since the Pokéball next to Eevee will blink when it is ready to evolve. Just make sure that it is daytime and evolve it, and it will turn into Espeon. The same is true for Umbreon, except it should be evolved at night. You can check your Pokémons friendship level at any time with the Friendship Checker.

In order to manipulate time so that you can be sure that your Eevee turns into the correct evolution, there are a few things you can do. Time moves quicker outside of the settlement area, Jubilife Villages time stands still, and you can always make time go quicker by sleeping in a camp.

Camps allow you to rest for a short period of time, and can easily be used to manipulate time if you want to knock Espeon and Umbreon out of your Pokédex quickly. Camps are located outside of the villages, and you can also use your quarters in Jubilife Village to rest.

Eevees Leaf and Ice-type evolutions both have their standard methods of evolutions during the event.

Players will need to use a Mossy Lure Module on a Pokestop and evolve Eevee within the radius to get a Leafeon or repeat the trick with a Glacial Lure Module to get a Glaceon.

While these items do cost, Niantic has confirmed that there will be some Research during Community Day that rewards a Mossy Lure Module and a Glacial Lure Module.

    All The Eevee Nickname Tricks

When Pokémon Go launched, there were no evolution stones – items from the core games that allow you to evolve certain Pokémon. Eevee’s first three evolutions normally require these special items to evolve, so Pokémon Go left Eevee’s evolution up to chance. However, the folks over at Niantic did hide a little Easter eggs in game. If you rename an Eevee to these nicknames, each based on a notable NPC’s Pokémon from the anime or core games, they’ll evolve into exactly the Eeveelution you want, but you can only use each one once per account:

Remember, it only works once for each. After that, you’re back to random chance, special lure modules, or walking with Eevee as your buddy. So, choose wisely. Pick the highest stat and highest CP Eevee you can for each one.

The Main Way To Get Espeon

If youre looking for another Espeon after using the naming trick already, you only really have one or two options left.

The first of which is to set Eevee as your buddy and walk 10 kilometres then try to evolve Eevee during the daytime. Doing so should give a picture of Espeon in the evolution button, showing its been done correctly.

Luckily this method works as much as you need it to and can be repeated infinitely, though the 10 kilometre requirement does slow down mass-producing a particular type of Eevee.

Be aware that this works off the in-game system so check whether its dark or light in-game first, otherwise, you might end up with an evolved Eevee that wasnt what you were looking for.

Just as youre not allowed to have multiple accounts on the go at once, you also cant share your account with other people so they can catch Pokemon in different places. This is hard for Niantic to detect as long as you dont use the account simultaneously and give it enough time before logging in when theres a long distance between the previous person, but make sure youre careful when doing it. The story behind Pokemon Go’s Eevee Evolution names

If you’re wondering where the above names come from, they’re actually a deep-cut nod to fans of the Pokemon anime – a nice little easter egg for players who have been particularly dedicated in their following of the series.

Rainer, Sparky, Pyro, Sakura and Tamao are actually the names of the ‘Eevee brothers’ that appear in the Pokemon anime. The first three Eevee evolutions and their owners – all siblings – show up in episode 40 of the show, meeting Ash and Pikachu. Each brother has a unique Eevee of his own, and it’s after the brothers that the Eevee take their names.

Here’s how Eevee evolutions work. If you choose to evolve Eevee without any meddling – by feeding it 25 Eevee candy – then it’ll turn to Vaporeon, Jolteon or Flareon at random.

However, players have discovered a trick that allows you to target any of Sylveon, Leafeon, Glaceon, Espeon, Umbreon, Flareon, Jolteon or Vaporeon by using one of the following Eevee names:

    • Rename Eevee as Kira to evolve into fairy-type Sylveon
    • Rename Eevee as Linnea to evolve into leaf-type Leafeon
    • Rename Eevee as Rea to evolve into ice-type Glaceon
    • Rename Eevee as Sakura to evolve into psychic-type Espeon
    • Rename Eevee as Tamao to evolve into dark-type Umbreon
    • Rename Eevee as Rainer to evolve into water-type Vaporeon
    • Rename Eevee as Sparky to evolve into lightning-typeJolteon
    • Rename Eevee as Pyro to evolve into fire-type Flareon

Important note – the trick only works once per evolution type, so make sure you choose Eevees with the best CP values before you evolve them into the type you want.

Thank you to redwineandbeer from reddit for confirming the nickname for Sylveon.

How to evolve Eevee into Espeon or Umbreon ANY TIME – Pokémon GO [Android 720p]

Evolving Eevee using the required 25 Eevee candy will produce a random evolution. However, you can control which type it turns into by renaming the monster beforehand:

    • Rename Kira to evolve into Fairy-type Sylveon
    • Rename Linnea to evolve into Grass-type Leafeon
    • Rename Rea to evolve into Ice-type Glaceon
    • Rename Sakura to evolve into Psychic-type Espeon
    • Rename Tamao to evolve into Dark-type Umbreon
    • Rename Rainer to evolve into Water-type Vaporeon
    • Rename Sparky to evolve into Electric-type Jolteon
    • Rename Pyro to evolve into Fire-type Flareon

There are some caveats here. This only works one time per evolution, so if you plan to use your Eeveelution in battle, make sure youve chosen an Eevee with favourable stats. The naming trick is currently the only guaranteed way to evolve Vaporeon, Jolteon or Flareon once youve done it once, itll be up to random chance if you get another, regardless of what youve named it.
