What Is Buddy Adventure Anyway

Buddy Adventure is a new way to interact with your Pokémon in Pokémon Go. It’s similar to how Ash’s Pikachu didn’t like to stay in his ball and preferred to follow him. With Buddy Adventure, your Buddy Pokémon can follow you on the map, and will even interact with you and help you on your journey. None of this happens automatically though. Like any friendship, you have to put in the work with your Buddy Pokémon too. There are things you can do to build up your Buddy Level and if you keep at it, you’ll eventually be Best Buddies.

Selecting And Changing Buddy

To select a Pokémon as a Buddy Pokémon for the first time, Trainer needs to:

• tap on Trainers portrait in the bottom left corner of the Map View,
• in the Trainer’s profile screen, tap the Buddy button to select a Buddy Pokémon.

After selecting, the first Buddy Pokémon, it cannot be removed but only swapped with another Pokémon.

Once Trainer selected a Pokémon as their Buddy, they can access their Buddy Profile screen in two ways:

To swap out Buddy Pokémon, Trainer needs to:

• go to their Buddy Profile screen and tap the Swap Buddies button at the very bottom of the page.

Trainer can view Pokémon they have previously set as their Buddy by tapping the Buddy History button that is located below the Trainer level progress bar in the Trainer’s profile screen. Trainer can also Swap Buddy Pokémon from the Buddy History page.

Trainers can only swap out their Buddy Pokémon 20 times per day.

How To Get Best Buddy In Pokemon Go

• You will need 32 Points per day to reach Excited mood for your Buddy
• Each Activity you do has a 30 minute cooldown, except Walk 2 KM per day
• You need to do these activities three times per day, as you can earn 14 Points from completing all of them

Berries Hunger And The Mood Of A Pokemon Buddy

Berries help fill up the hunger meter of a Pokemon in Pokemon Go. Feeding them berries refills their hunger meter, with different berries having different effects. The hunger meter for a Pokemon has six segments, with one segment depleting every 30 minutes.

Buddies can become hungry even if the game isn’t running.

Joining A Raid Battle

Raid battles are arguably Pokemon Gos biggest feature. Once you hit level 20, you can access raid events in which a powerful Boss Pokemon appears at certain times of the day. If theres a raid happening close to you, you get a notification and have the chance to join. But if you walk right up to a gym, youll be disappointed when the bouncer at the door asks for a Raid Pass or Premium Raid Pass and you dont have one. These can be gotten by going to a gym and spinning the photo disc. Only one raid pass can be used per day, otherwise, you need to purchase a Premium Raid Pass from the shop to participate in raid battles more often.

Buddy Levels And Perks

Earning Affection hearts allows Trainer to progress toward improving their Buddy Level. Similarly to Friendship Levels, each Buddy Level unlocks special perks.

Unlike Buddys Mood, Buddy Levels do not decrease over time, much like Friendship Levels.

Following perks are available for Good Buddy level.

Adventuring Buddy

Buddy will appear on the Map when it is fed enough and their hunger meter is full. While on the Map, buddy will earn Candy at a reduced walking distance.

Readable Mood

An excited Wailord

Interacting with Buddy improves their Mood. It decreases over time. Swapping buddies reset it back to Normal. Excited is the most positive mood, which doubles the Affection Hearts that could be earned and the candy walking distance is halved when excited.

Once Buddy achieves Good Buddy level, the Mood indicator appears on the Buddy Profile screen. If Buddy is on the map, Trainer can also tap their buddy to see its Mood.

Following perks are available for Great Buddy level.

When Buddy Pokémon reaches Great Buddy level it can occasionally bring Trainer a present which are items inside of floral sack.

To open such present, Trainer has to open Buddy profile page and they will see a sack in front of their Buddy. Once they tap on it, the items will be received. These presents can contain items, such as Poké Balls, Potions, Berries, Revives, and stickers from Gifts.

Pokemon Go has added a number of different features since it was first released in 2016. One of these is the buddy system. You can learn how to swap buddies in Pokemon Go if you would like to advance your buddy level for multiple Pokemon at the same time.

Your Pokemon Go buddy has its own level in the game. Much like the friend system, you can advanced your buddy to different levels. This happens by performing actions like playing with your buddy, taking snapshots, engaging in battles, and more.

Buddy Find Locations Explained

Ultra Buddies get a Find Locations bonus which is quite confusing to new players. Heres what that actually means :

Your buddy may draw your attention to a nearby PokéStop they find interesting. If you visit the PokéStop and spin its Photo Disk while there is an indicator above the PokéStop, you will earn bonus items and an Affection heart in the Bonus category.

Earning Candy With Your Buddy

Making a Pokemon your buddy means that you earn candy for that particular Pokemon type every time you walk a certain distance. For example, if you were walking with Grotle, you’d be earning Turtwig candy. The rarer a Pokemon is, the longer you need to walk to earn one candy.

• 1 kilometre = 1 candy
• 3 kilometres =1 candy
• 5 kilometres = 1 candy
• 20 kilometres = 1 candy

There are two small exceptions to these rules:

• If the player is level 40 or higher, there’s a chance that their buddy will find a candy XL instead of the regular kind
• Buddy Pokemon can be “excited”and when they are, their usual distance requirement is halved

The first and foremost reason to have a buddy Pokemon is to earn candy! Candy is used to evolve and power up your Pokemon it can be earned in a number of ways, from simply catching Pokemon to trading them with your friends. However, walking with them is a method that you have complete control over!

Tracking Your Progress And Interacting With Your Buddy

Tap your profile in the bottom left-hand corner of your phone screen while playing and youll be able to see your avatar along with your buddy. Tap your buddy to see a breakdown of all the ways you can earn hearts in Pokémon Go each day.

This screen also lets you perform several of the activities required to gain hearts. Tap Play! or the Razz Berry icon to play with your buddy, using your phones camera. While playing, tap the Razz Berry icon to feed your buddy a berry . Take a snapshot together by pressing the camera button at the bottom of the screen.

What The Bubble Means

When you are looking at all of your Pokemon, you will notice that your buddy has a white bubble over its head that contains two smiling faces. This is like the marker you get when certain Pokemon are defending a gym. Its just a label to remind you that that particular Pokemon has a job to do.

When in Adventure mode, performing activities with Buddies increases their mood. The highest level mood, ‘excited’ can also give you benefits for a limited time.

When your buddy is ‘excited’ – as indicated by a cheering icon surrounded by Hearts – then you’ll receive the following benefits:

• Candy distances will be halved
• Your daily Heart cap increases to 20

Getting a Pokémon excited, then, has its perks. To get it excited, there are two methods:

To make a Pokemon ‘excited’, you can either:

• Use Poffin – a shop-only item you can purchase from the shop for 100 Coins – which also fills all feeding heart meters for the day
• Perform enough actions to reach a certain threshold

Though the second one is ‘free’, it’s neither easy or particularly obvious from the outset. You must collect 32 ‘points’ from performing various activities, but you cannot do them at once – each individual activity has a 30 minute cooldown, with the exception of walking.
