Developer Niantic has acknowledged the fact that many players unknowingly granted the Pokemon Go developer however, the rumors that Niantic can now utilize your Google email and send emails on your behalf is false.
While they have released patches for both iOS and Android users, many players are unaware that they need to manually revoke the game’s “Full Access” status before they can reset the app’s permissions to “Basic” .
To Sign Into Pokmon Go:
Find Pokémon Go in your mobile device’s app manager and tap it to open it.
From the title screen of Pokémon Go, you can tap Google to sign in with a Google account, or tap Pokémon Trainer Club to sign in with your new Pokémon Trainer Club account. We’ll go over both ways of signing in.
If you choose to sign in with a Google account by tapping Google, you will be asked to select which Google account you wish to use. Chances are that you’ve already registered a Google account on your device, so tap the account that you wish to use, and then tap OK.
If you wish to sign in with your Pokémon Trainer Club account instead by tapping Pokémon Trainer Club, tap in the box labelled “Enter Your Username” and use your device’s keyboard to type in the user name that you picked for your account. Then, tap in the box labelled “Enter Your Password” and use your device’s keyboard to type in the password that you chose to protect your account. Finally, tap Sign In.

Editor’s note at 6:11 p.m. PT: Niantic has acknowledged Pokemon Go gains unnecessary “full access” to users’ Google accounts on iOS and is actively issuing a fix. If you’re an affected user, no action is needed on your part.
PokeHype is here, it’s real and isn’t going anywhere soon. It’s not all gravy, though. Dealing with server issues is one thing, but finding out an app has complete and total access to your Google account is another.
As Adam Reeve discovered after starting to play on his iPhone, if you use an iOS device and a Google account to sign up for Pokemon Go, .
That means the developer of Pokemon Go, Niantic, may have access to your emails, Google Drive, calendar, contacts, photos, Chrome browsing history, search history, Maps data… and, well, anything else linked to your Google account.
According to Google’s support page, full access lets the application “see and modify nearly all information in your Google Account .” That’s not to say they are actively accessing said information, but the possibility is there for it to happen.

How To Restore A Lost Pokmon Go Account

The mobile gaming hit Pokémon GO received an update to version 1.1.0 over the weekend, leading many players to believe their progress has been lost. According to game developer Niantic, this is a login issue that surfaced due to an update to the Google Account login system. Rest assured, your Pokémon GO account still exists and can easily be recovered.
For those who have started from scratch and assumed the worst has happened, it’s most likely you have accidentally created a new Pokémon GO account using a different Google account. Follow these steps to bring back your old account, along with all of your game progress:
1. Sign out of your new, empty Pokémon GO account by opening the app and tapping the Pokéball. On the menu navigate to Settings -> Sign out, then tap Yes to confirm.
2. Tap the Google button to sign back into the new account.

Why Use A Google Account Over Pokmon Trainer Club
At the moment, it seems that signing up for a Pokémon Go account is easier and more reliable with a Google account, as the option for Pokémon Trainer Club is often overloaded or on some devices entirely disabled.
If you don’t have a Google account already, it may be a good idea to create one while signing up for Pokémon Go since it may be useful in the future. Signing up for a Google account is only available to those over 13 years old in the U.S. and all other countries . If you are under 13, please talk to a parent before signing up.

How To Revoke Pokmon Gos Access To Your Google Account
As we noted in the previous section, you can easily and immediately check the status of app and service permissions on your Google account. Uninstalling the game will not revoke the access granted to the game. You must and look for the entry Pokemon Go Release. Click on it for a detailed view and then, as seen in the screenshot below, click the giant REMOVE button.
Note that when we tested this on our Android devices, we didnt see the Pokemon Go Release option show up at all. As far as we know, if you dont see Pokemon Go Release, you are unaffected by the problem.
This leads us to our final trick: playing without compromising your primary Gooogle account.
What Is Pokemon Go Unable To Authenticate
When you are not able to log in from Pokemon Go, and it kicks back a message that says “unable to authenticate, please try again,” then the screen displays an error text with this warning.

Want To Keep Playing Anyway Use A Burner Google Account
Okay, we get it. You want to keep playing, but are dubious about handing over your account. Heres a little workaround: create another free Google account, with nothing in it, and use that to sign into Pokémon GO.
We have to admit we feel a bit silly for not doing this in the first place, but this is the first time weve really been burned by bad permissions in a game. To create a burner account, just log out of your regular Google account on your computer and then visit www.gmail.com to sign up for an account like superawesomepokemontrainer2016@gmail.com. Use that account to log into Pokémon GO and youre golden. No matter how bad the account permissions remain, you can continue to play the rather addictive game without any privacy concerns.
You will, however, have to start over from scratch, and youll lose all your Pokémon. But thats a small price to pay. Alternatively, you can wait and hope Niantic releases their update fixing this problemwhich should hopefully happen soon.
Join A Team And Battle
At a certain point in the game,you’ll be asked to join one of three teams. Once you join a team, you’ll gainthe ability to assign your Pokémon to open Gym locations or to a Gym where ateammate has already assigned a Pokémon. Each player can place only one Pokémonper Gym, so you’ll need to work together with other members of your team tobuild up a strong defense. Like PokéStops, Gyms can be found at real-worldlocations.
If a rival team has claimed a Gym,you can challenge it by using your Pokémon to battle the Pokémon defending theGym. You choose which of your Pokémon will join in the battle. Each Pokémon hastwo kinds of attacks, and can also dodge the defending Pokémon’s attacks if youswipe left or right. If your Pokémon win the battle, the motivation of thedefending Pokémon is reduced. When the motivation of each defending Pokémondrops to zero, the defending team loses control of the Gym, and you or anotherplayer can then take control of it by assigning a Pokémon to defend it.

Linking An Additional Login Provider To Your Account
- If you created an account using a non-permanent email address that you may lose access to in the future.
- If the single login provider youve chosen is experiencing an interruption in service, you will be able to log in using a different provider.
- If you choose to change the login provider account to which your Pokémon GO account is linked.

Facebook Account Linking And Login Updates Coming To Pokmon Go
Good news, Trainers! Well soon begin rolling out support for account linking with Facebook. Along with a simpler sign-in process, linking Pokémon GO to your Facebook account gives you more options to log in and helps preserve your progress across devices.
With this change, you will also be able to link your Trainer profile to your Facebook and Google accounts, and use any of those credentials to access Pokémon GO. For example, someone who currently logs in with Pokémon Trainer Club could link their Trainer profile to both their Google and Facebook accounts, and then they can use whichever account they prefer going forward. To link your Trainer profile to a Google or Facebook account, access the Settings menu and then select the platform youd like to link.
Account linking is especially useful for someone who has registered for Pokémon GO using a Google Account that they may not be able to access in the future, such as one associated with a work or university email address. By linking their Facebook account, they can continue to make progress on their Pokédex, and even link a new Google account to their Trainer profile.
Please note: this feature will not be available for Trainers with child accounts.
