Pokemon Cards Gx Tag Team

Must read

Magikarp & Wailord Gx

Pokemon Trading Card Game – GX, Tag Team, Pokemon V, Dynamax Tease Trailer

Type: Water

Wailord suffers a big retreat cost and no resistance, but serves as a prime wall thanks to this whopping 300 HP. Honestly, that’s half of this guy’s usetoss him out to tank hits as you amass energy on your bench.

Sadly, both Wailord’s attacks need lots of energy, and each must specifically be Water-element. But if you can accumulate them, Super Splash nets 180 and GX attack Towering Splash grants 10, plus 100 to the enemy bench member if you have at least seven extra Water resources. In short, there are better tag-team attackers out there, but for pure damage absorption, you’ll find none better.

Exclusive: Pokemon Tcg Explains Pokemon Tag Team Pairings In Unified Minds Expansion

The Pokemon Trading Card Game recently added powerful new Tag Team cards, but some questions remain about how Pokemon are chosen to appear on these cards. While normal Pokemon cards only represent one Pokemon, the Tag Team-GX cards represent a pair of two Pokemon whose combined moves do more damage than even the most powerful “normal” Pokemon cards. These cards are literal game-changers, but they come at a cost. Losing one of your Tag Team-GX cards in battle costs a player three prizes instead of the usual one or two, which amounts to half your prize count and is often the difference between victory and defeat.

To find out more about how these Tag Team-GX cards are conceived, ComicBook.com spoke with Atsushi Nagashima, the Game Director of the Pokemon Trading Card Game, and Pokemon Trading Card illustrator Mitsuhiro Arita via email about how they decided on which Pokemon to include in Tag Team-GX cards for the upcoming Unified Minds expansion of the game. The new cards include powerful duos like Mewtwo & Mew and Espeon & Deoxys, along with more unusual pairings like Psyduck & Slowpoke. Scroll down to get a look at the cards along with explanations from Nagashima and Arita about why these particular Pokemon were chosen for these cards.

Pokemon Tcg Best Gx Cards

Hello all you fans of the Pokemon Trading Card Game and casual readers. Today well be looking at the top 15 Pokemon GX cards. All of the cards on this list feature GX attacks, one use attacks that are extremely powerful. Apologies in advance if any of your favorite cards get left out.

Before we get into the list, lets set some loose criteria for what makes a top card. A top card has a good attack and ability, and will help out almost any deck you put it in. For example, almost any fire or colorless card immediately becomes better when you use the welder supporter. However, we want to see which cards stand on their own.

In addition, there are many GX cards that were revolutionary when they came out. For example, Umbreon GX and Espeon GX both featured 200 HP which was incredibly high upon their release. However, since then hit points have increased above 250 and even 300. To find the top 15 were going to be judging them all as they are now.

Just a reminder, this list is not what is best for your deck in specific, but just best in general. There are always scenarios in which one of these cards might not hold up against a card not on this list. Now lets get into it.

Reshiram & Charizard Gx

Type: Fire

Two powerful Fire-types unite for this scorching duo. No resistance here, and a moderate retreat price of three, but you’ve got a fierce 270 HP. This is especially useful considering Outrage, which singes for 30 at base, but adds 10 more for each damage counter on Charizard, maxing at an insane 290.

For more-reliable damage, Flare Strike scorches an intense 230, but you can’t use it twice in a row. GX move Double Blaze lands 200, and if you have three extra energy, adds 100 more plus immunity to any effects on the defending Pokemon. Nice to have available, but there are better GX attacksstick with your more-than-capable base moves and save your one-shot for another unit.

Lucario & Melmetal Gx

Lucario & Melmetal GX Card

  • This Tag Team Pokemon has 260 HP.
  • While Lucario & Melmetal doesnt have the highest HP of the Tag Team Pokemon, thats to keep it from being unfair. Its GX attack, Full Metal Wall GX, says that your Metal Pokemon take 30 less damage from attacks for the rest of the game. This only costs one energy and for an extra energy you can discard all energy from your opponents active Pokemon.
  • Once youre sure that it will be sticking around for a while, Lucametals first attack deals 50 damage and attaches an energy from your deck to one of your Pokemon.
  • Lucametals second attack deals 150 damage for four energy. Normally this would be a lot but this Pokemon stays out for longer because of its GX attack.

Tyranitar & Mega Sableye

TAG TEAM Pokemon GX Cards!! (NEW MECHANIC IN THE TCG) – Pikachu and Zekrom GX

ComicBook.com: Why did you pick Mega Sableye as the first Mega Evolution Pokemon to be featured with a Tag Team Card?

Atsushi Nagashima: We wanted to feature a Mega Evolution Pokémon that we weren’t able to release during the XY Series. Rather than releasing it as a normal card, we thought it would be more fitting if it was a special card such as a TAG TEAM Pokémon-GX, so we waited for the right time. From a gameplay perspective, we needed a Darkness type, so we decided to release a Darkness-type Mega Sableye that hadn’t appeared as a Mega Evolution Pokémon . We chose Tyranitar, a strong Darkness-type Pokémon, as its partner.

Mega Sableye & Tyranitar

Our first dark pokémon team up has two epic attacks. This is the only tag team pokémon that cant attack even when it has four energy attached. Crazy energy costs like this are always eye catching and exciting. These high energy costs make this a difficult card to use, but the attacks are so powerful that it still sees play in expanded alongside Mewtwo & Mew-GX.

Arceus & Dialga & Palkia

Here are all the Tag Team GX cards coming to the Unified Minds Pokémon ...

This trio of legendary pokemon from the Cosmic Eclipse expansion is unique as it is one of the few that houses 3 pokemon instead of 2 and is also one that is better to be played at the beginning of a battle. Such powerhouses are usually saved for the last parts of a battle as a trump card but this trio has some attacks that benefit more from early play.

Their Ultimate Ray is an excellent way to do damage while simultaneously attaching energy cards from the deck directly onto one’s Benched pokemon. And their GX attack, Altered Creation, increases damage done by their trainer’s pokemon for the rest of the battle a serious buff that can start things off to one’s advantage.

Those seeking to use this tremendous trio are recommended to include Arceus & Dialga & Palkia in a Dragon-type deck. One that includes Water and Metal energy cards that have access to a way to search for energy so that one can use this GX card’s attacks that require a variety of such resources.

How To Play Tag

Tag-team cards are quickly proving a staple with their chancy but rewarding nature, offering insane power if you’re willing to gamble three prizes. Play them late into the game where those added prizes won’t matter, or simply keep them alive with proper healing/retreating to avoid their loss.

Today’s units stem from the Tag-Team and Unbroken Bond sets, and you can examine more alliances with the older Legend cards . But for now, as we eagerly await Nintendo’s next batch of powerful partners, vote for your favorite tag-team and I’ll see you at our next Pokemon countdown!

Gardevoir & Sylveon Gx

Gardevoir & Sylveon GX Card

  • This Tag Team Pokemon has 260 HP.
  • Gardevoir & Sylveon GXs first attack only costs one energy and lets you search your deck for two fairy energy and attach them to your benched Pokemon.
  • Its second attack costs three energy and does 150 damage. It also lets you move the energy on your Pokemon around in any way you want. This can move energy off someone who is about to be KOed or towards someone that needs a lot of energy.
  • Magical Miracle GX deals 200 damage for three energy. If you have three extra energy then it also shuffles your opponents hand into their deck. This means they start out the next turn with just one card.

Togepi & Cleffa & Igglybuff

TAG TEAM GX POKEMON CARDS inside this TEAM UP BOOSTER BOX OPENING!

For some the baby tag team pokémon is probably the worst of all the tag team cards, and while I recognise how bad it is for a three prize pokémon, the GX attack is so absurd I love it. Taking another turn is cool and very rare so that alone elevates it above the most boring tag team designs. Where Supreme Puff gets outrageous is the bonus text. If you have an unbelievable SIXTEEN fairy energy attached to this cute trio, you can completely vaporise your opponents entire bench on top of taking that extra turn. On pure power level this card would be lower down this list, but if you want to build a wacky meme tag team deck, Togepi, Cleffa and Igglybuff are here for you.

Opinion: The Next Tag Team

Over the years Pokémon TCG has introduced a lot of novelties such as EX, GX or even Shiny-cards. With Sun and Moon they brought us Tag Team duos and Hidden Fates introduces the very first Tag Team Trio GX! But who will be the next trio?

First lets have a look at the very first Tag Team Trio GX in detail:

Now lets look at some other Tag Team Trio GX contenders.

Our 3 legendary beasts from gen 2 actually already had a promotional card back in 2018. With a whopping 500 HP and a damage output of 1000!!! just by Being Legendary we would love to see another re-imagination as an official Tag Team Trio GX card.To change up things I would have them as a Shiny Tag Team Trio GX. That would re-introduce them with a lot of resplendent art.

Another less beastly entry would be the pixies Azelf, Uxie and Mesprit.

I would like to see them as a lightpacked Tag Team Trio GX card. Where theyd only have a combined 200-230 HP but with lower set up costs. A 3 x psychic Psy Burst attack with 180 damage output but with a coin flip confusion effect. I would add a weakness to Darkness and a full resistance to fighting to counter their relatively low combined HP. It wouldnt be as strong as the previous Tag Team Trio GX but it would be easier to set up.

Are Tag Team Pokemon Cards Rare

It depends. If you pick up the Tag Team expansion, then they are not especially rare. This is because they are going to be the focal point of the expansion. The common cards are not exactly going to be the most powerful cards in the world, but unless you are playing with them, this probably wont matter too much.

Pokemon tag team GX cards are incredibly rare, though. This is assuming you draw them from sets other than the tag team set. It may take a good few booster packs before you can pull one.

Some Pokemon tag team cards are going to be rarer than others. As is a staple in the Pokemon TCG now, any card that features Charizard is automatically going to be one of the rarest cards in a set.

How Do Tag Team Pokemon Cards Work

For the most part, tag team cards work in much the same way as a typical Pokemon card. They are just a slightly more powerful card. You will be able to have a maximum of 4 of each card in your deck.

While most people think Pokemon tag team cards only feature Pokemon, they also come in a trainer, supporter, and special energy varieties. Again, you will be limited to a maximum of four each in a deck.

These cards will work in much the same way as your typical trainer, support, and special energy cards. Just read the instructions on the card and it will tell you exactly what you need to do.

If you have a tag team Pokemon card, then they will always be basic GX cards i.e. you will be able to place them directly onto the table. You do not need to evolve a Pokemon into a basic GX card. Because these tag team Pokemon are going to be a lot more powerful than your typical Pokemon card, there will be a few special rules attached to them.

For starters, each GX card will have a GX move attached to it. This is an incredibly powerful move that will often take a good few energy cards to power up. This move can knock out virtually any Pokemon on the field, or it will often have an effect that can be used to draw cards, etc.

There is a further rule tied to tag team GX cards, though. Because these are way more powerful than normal GX cards, there has to be a special prize for knocking them out.
