Pokmon Type Effectiveness And Weakness Chart

FULL 4X WEAK TO FIRE POKEMON TEAM!

Our type chart presents the 18 Pokémon types in attack and defence scenarios. To use it, simply find your Pokémons type to see what its attacks are strong and weak against, and what it is resistant and vulnerable to when defending.

  • Types bolded in square brackets are subject to a further cut in effectiveness in the mainline games these are outright immunities
  • If a type is not listed, damage is neutral
  • The strength of an attack is increased if the attack type is strong against both types of a dual type Pokémon
  • Type resistance and vulnerability effectively cancel each other out on dual type Pokémon
Pokémon Type Chart

Bug, Dark, , Fighting

Poison, Steel

Note that attack and defence type relationships are not identical e.g. types may be resistant to types when defending that they are not super effective against when attacking.

Remember, things get even more interesting when Pokémon of dual types crop up and you have to factor in additional strengths and weaknesses.

Scizor Is Weak To Fire Type Attacks

Scizor is one of 6 Pokémon that are Bug and Steel types. Even its Mega Evolution retains these types. Scizor and Mega Scizor are superior to their first form, Scyther, because they are only weak to Fire.

Scizor has a body as durable as steel, and it uses its wings to keep its body from overheating and melting, which is crucial since even the Pokémons muscles are comprised solely of metal. As long as a trainer isnt fighting a Fire type Pokémon, Scizor is a great pick.

How Many Pokmon Has Ash Caught

Competitive Spotlight: Magcargo

Ash received his first Pokémon, Pikachu but Pikachu was less than thrilled to be paired with Ash. Pikachu would purposely sabotage Ash from catching other Pokémon.

However, after Ash risked his own life for Pikachu, a bond was formed and Pikachu began to trust Ash. The two have been traveling around the world catching and helping Pokémon ever since.

Throughout his and Pikachus many journeys, Ash has collected at least 96 different species of Pokémon. Ash views Pokémons as individuals and not just as tools or weapons to collect.

There have even been Pokémon that have allowed themselves to be captured by Ash all because he had befriended, helped, and believed in them.

Pokmon Go Type Chart: How To Remember Pokmon Types

For anyone who has invested years of play into this series, the type system becomes second nature. While in time your memory too will retain most of, if not the full set of relationships it is worth learning the logical relationships that do exist.

The classic example taught at the beginning of every Pokémon game is that fire is super effective against grass, which is in turn super effective against water, which is in turn super effective against fire. This is easy enough to follow fire burns grass, grass thrives with water, water puts out fire but finding similar relationships in the other 18 types is will help you remember the system.

Here are some other ideas to get you started:

  • Rocks effectiveness against flying is reminiscent of the phrase kill two birds with one stone
  • Similarly, psychic is effective against fighting because brains are better than brawn but psychic is vulnerable to dark and ghost because the mind cannot cope with the unknown and supernatural
  • Ground types are immune to electric attacks because being grounded is an important principle in electric circuits but ground can be swept away be water, cracked by ice and exploited by grass.

Why Cant You Throw A Pokeball At Eternatus

You cannot fail to catch Eternatus. As soon as youre able to try and catch it after you deplete all of its health, you can throw any type of Poké Ball and it will automatically catch it. You dont need to worry about this part. Simply put: Its impossible to beat the game without getting Eternatus on your team.

Pokemon Go: Every Type’s Weakness

Pokemon GO shares the rock-paper-scissors nature of the mainline series when it comes to combat, but it can be tricky to remember all of the elemental type advantages with so many types in play at once.

Niantic has fortunately provided a helpful article on its official Pokemon GO site to remind its players what weaknesses and resistances are out there. Since the game’s inclusion of Fairy-type Pokemon and moves, Pokemon GO is now up-to-date with its type effectiveness alongside the current titles in the franchise such as Pokemon Sword & Shield.

Super-effective damage is vital to trainers’ combat capabilities, as taking advantage of type weaknesses is a core concept in Pokemon GO.

Top 10 WEAKEST Fire Type Pokemon

While Yveltal is one of the stronger Legendaries in the meta, Tyranitar can not only take half damage from its STAB moves, but it can also strike back at Yveltals weaknesses with STAB moves of its own. Mixed with its 1.5x Special Defense boost during a sandstorm it can reduce that damage even further.

Tyranitar can also target the weaknesses of Shadow Rider Calyrex, Ho-Oh, and Lugia, making it a great choice against Legendary Pokemon.

Every Pokmon Type Weaknesses Explained: Which Is Best Against Which

Pokémon battles are strategy-based puzzles, and understanding type weaknesses can be the difference between success and defeat in a critical match.

Picking the correct types for a team is a big part of the strategy in Pokémon games. A team made up of a single type can be vulnerable to attacks that type is weak against, leading to a total-party knockout. Because of this, having a wide variety of Pokémon types can provide stability and allow players to better create battle strategies. This is especially important when preparing to go up against type-focused Gyms. To help create a well-balanced team, it’s best to know each Pokémon type’s weaknesses.

Pokémon types come into play in several ways. Each species has a type attached, like Charmander being a Fire-Type Pokémon, but there are also types attached to Pokémon moves, like Earthquake being an Earth-type move. Moves that match a Pokémon’s species type deal bonus damage , but most Pokémon also have the ability to learn moves outside of their species type. For example, Charmander can learn the Flying-type move Acrobatics, and Pikachu can learn the Steel-type move Iron Tail. While Electric-type moves don’t affect Ground-type Pokémon, Steel-type moves do, and Electric-type moves are super effective against Water-types, which resist Steel. By balancing movesets out with a wide range of different types, players can take advantage of a Pokémon’s species type and stand up against moves it’s weak against.

Pokmon Go Types Strengths And Weakness

Pokémon also has its own set of weaknesses and strengths. For example, bug-type Pokémon are weak against fire-, flying-, and rock-type moves. Bug-type moves are strong against dark-, grass-, and psychic-type moves. Fire-, flying-, and rock-type moves will do double damage against a bug-type, like Caterpie.

Some Pokémon have two types, which means they can have a doubled weakness or have their strength and weaknesses cancel out to just take normal damage. Rayquaza, a dragon- and flying-type, takes four times the damage from ice-type moves. On the flip side, Shuckle, a rock- and bug-type, takes normal damage from fire-type moves, since rock-type is strong against fire-type.

Strengths and weaknesses also arent necessarily just opposites of each other. Though fire-type move deal less damage to water-type Pokémon and water-type moves do doubled damage against fire-type Pokémon, this isnt the case with every type. For example, fighting-type moves are strong against normal-types, but normal-types just do regular damage against fighting-types, rather than do reduced damage.

Knowing what Pokémons strengths and weaknesses are is an important aspect of raiding and battling. To do the most damage you can, you should make sure that your Pokémons moves are strong against what its battling.

Solrock Is A Rock & Psychic Type

Solrock is weak to 6 types of Pokémon. These include Bug, Ghost, Steel, Water, Grass, and Dark. As a Rock type, Solrock should be weak to the Ground type too.

However, its ability Levitate actually keeps its body off of the ground, meaning that it is completely immune to Ground type moves. Although Solrock has many weaknesses, it has the ability to sense what others are thinking, giving it an advantage.

Steelixs Weakness In Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl

Steelix is a dual Steel/Ground-type, which means that its weak to Fighting, Ground, Fire, and Water-type moves. Its defensive typing also makes it immune to Electric and Poison, while also making it resistant to Normal, Flying, Steel, Bug, Psychic, Dragon, and Fairy. On top of that, its even more resistant to Rock-type, cutting the power of those moves down to 25% of their original strength.

Fighting a Steelix can become even trickier if it has the Study ability, which prevents it from getting one-hit KOd whenever it has full HP. This means that if its trainer uses a healing item to restore the Pokemon to full health, Sturdy can activate again.

If youre looking to take on Flints Steelix when challenging the Sinnoh Elite Four, be aware that it knows Thunder Fang, Fire Fang, Crunch, and Iron Tail, so plan accordingly to take advantage of its weaknesses while being aware of your own.

Does Ice Resist Dragon

In the games, Dragon types are only weak against Ice and Dragon type moves. They are also highly resistant to Fire, Electric, Grass and Water type moves, with all four being featured as the starting Pokémons types in the first Generation. This means that whilst Dragons are powerful, they are not unstoppable.

  • Ice: Kyurem, Mamoswine, Glaceon, Regice, Articuno, etc.
  • Normal: Slaking, Meloetta, Porygon-Z, Snorlax, Braviary, etc.

Pokemon Go Type Chart: Strengths Effectiveness Weaknesses And Resistances Explained

Can You Beat Pokémon Fire Red Using Quad Weak Pokémon?

In Pokemon Go, Every type of Pokemon has four different relationships with other types any trainer should be aware of. That is:

  • Strong Against: represented on our type chart as Strong Vs, attacks from the listed type against the type listed here will deal additional damage to your opponent. This is ‘Super Effective’.
  • Weak Against: represented here as Weak Vs, attacks from the listed type against these types will do less damage to the enemy. This is ‘Not very effective…’
  • Resistance: listed as resist, taking attacks from this type will do much less damage to you.
  • Vulnerable: your type’s weaknesses. Attacks of these types will deal more damage – watch out!

So, for instance, Offensively a Ground-type Pokemon/move is Strong against Poison, Rock, Steel, Fire and Electric types, dealing double damage to them. It only does 50% damage against Flying, Bug and Grass Pokemon. Defensively, that same Ground-type Pokemon will take reduced damage from Poison, Rock and Electric Pokemon but also take double damage from Water, Grass and Ice – which is vulnerable to.

With that explained, let’s get into the Pokemon Go type chart in full.
