Hidden Tips For Pokemon Go Fanatics

Step back out into the world, and master these tricks to become the ultimate Pokemon Go trainer.

Pokemon Go has captured the world’s heart, and maybe even made America great again. In fact, not even a global pandemic significantly slowed Pokemon Go’s momentum. With some precautions, we can catch them all, and stay healthy at the same time.

Pokemon Go has received several updates since its launch, making it incredibly fun to play. It requires you to get up, leave the couch, and visit real-world locations to replenish important items, participate in Gym and Raid Battles, and of course, catch wild Pokemon. The rules have been relaxed during the COVID-19 era , but going outside is still generally the point.

Unfortunately, the game provides little guidance on the nuances of catching, collecting, and evolving Pokemonthere’s barely a tutorial. If you’re just starting out, see How to Get Started and Catch ‘Em All for a primer on what every icon means, how to capture Pokemon, and other basics.

The following advanced tips and tricks go one step further to help you truly master Pokemon Go, use it to enhance your other Pokemon adventures on consoles, and maybe, just maybe, put you in the mood for the upcoming Pokemon Sleep.

Is Rare Candy Bad

Feeding a Rare Candy to a Pokémon will cause it to gain one Level, up to the maximum of L100. Rare Candies provide no Stat Exp Pokémon who are raised using this item will therefore tend to be weaker than those who are trained in battle. If youve used Rare Candies on some of your Pokémon, dont worry.

How To Track Rare Pokemon On Your Map

You can successfully track specific Pokemon if you keep your eye on the Nearby Pokemon list, located in the lower corner of your Map. As you can see in the video above, if the Pokemon icon is moving up the list to the top left spot, that means you’re getting closer to it! Try going in different directions until it gets less foot prints and moves up the list. You may find yourself right next to that elusive Scyther soon!

Use Trainer Level To Increase The Help Of Lucky Eggs And Incense

You generally earn 500 XP for evolving a Pokemon. The use of Lucky Eggs doubles up the XP for a half hour, which means youll receive 1000 XP for every Pokemon evolved during that time frame.

It is advisable that you keep the frequently found Pokemon for evolving while using Lucky Eggs. You can also use an Incense at the same time, as the 500 XP for catching a new Pokemon will double up because of the Lucky Eggs.

How Do You Catch A Mew In Fire Red

Add Friends Fast In Pokmon Go

Sometimes Special Research, like the Jirachi themed A Thousand-Year Slumber, or Team GO Rocket’s A Troubling Situation, require you to add friends to proceed. If you don’t have a lot of other players around, this can be a challenge. Luckily, there’s a pretty easy workaround: Just delete and re-add an existing friend.

  • Go to Profile.
  • Tap on Remove Friend.
  • Then, re-add the friend as normal.

You retain your friendship level and even any unopened gifts. It’s such an easy workaround you’d think Niantic would patch it. But, that could cause real stress for people who do accidentally remove friends.

The Best Way To Get Candy In Pokmon Go

As updates go on for the game, more and more methods of getting Candy exist, so it’s worth keeping them all in mind as you play. It is, after all, one of the more difficult resources to collect.

    Catching Pokémon

The best way is, unfortunately, through grinding out those catches.

You’ll get three Candy per Pokémon that you catch, and as part of the Gen 2 update, second and third tier evolutions will now give out more Candy in the wild compared to their first evolution counterparts, increasing from 3 Candy to 5 and 10 respectively.

There are ways to speed up the process for the creature you need, from finding Pokémon nests to finding Pokémon spawn locations.

It’s worth noting that, now and again, seasonal updates look to increase the rates of some drops, such as Candy during Pokémon Go’s Halloween event, so be sure to keep an eye on game updates to increase your stock.

Get extra Candy from using Berries in battle

As part of the Gen 2 Pokémon update, new Berries were added, introducing new effects when encountering wild Pokémon. One of these is the Pinap Berries, which will double the amount of Candy you receive if your next catch attempt succeeds.

Can You Buy Candy And Rare Candy In Pokmon Go

Sadly, no. Unlike Lucky Eggs, Incubators, Incense, and other items, you can’t buy Candy or Rare Candy in the Pokémon Go shop. Unlike Poké Balls, Potions, and Revives, you can’t get Candy or Rare Candy by spinning PokéStops either. You can’t even get Candy or Rare Candy from leveling up your training.

If you want Candy and Rare Candy and you do! you have to get it in one of the ways outlined below.

Dodge The Driving Lockouts In Pokmon Go

Buddy Evolution Glitch/Bug & How To Avoid (Using Milotic) – Pokemon Go!

Pokémon Go does everything it can to prevent people from playing while driving, and that’s a very good thing. Unfortunately, it also prevents people from playing while being passengers in cars, buses, trains, and other forms of transportation.

There are different levels of lockout. The first is the 10 KM/H limit for egg hatching and Buddy candy walking. Go over that limit, and Pokémon Go radically lowers the amount of distance it logs. The second is the 35 KM/H limit for spinning PokéStops, seeing Nearby and Sightings on your radar and triggering spawns in your vicinity. Go over that limit, and you log almost no distance, can’t spin any stops, and can’t see or spawn any Pokémon.

It’s all absolutely for the best, but there are also a couple of ways around it. They don’t always work, but when they do, you’ll rack up mega mileage and sometimes still get in a few spins and spawns.

  • Go to the egg screen on Pokémon Go.
  • Hit the Home button, so you return to the Home screen. Don’t launch any other apps, but don’t let the screen go off either.
  • Drive a short distance, something under 10 minutes.
  • When you Pokémon Go again, you might see some amazing distance gains.
  • Another method involved using an Apple Watch:

  • Using your Apple Watch, start a Pokémon Go workout.
  • Next, find some form of slow transportation. Whether that’s an Uber/taxi or bus in traffic or a ferry, it doesn’t matter. Slower the better, though.

Tricks On Pokemon Go Rare Candy Cheat

There are many cheats that may end up you in the black list by which you will not be allowed to play a co-op game to bring the raid boss down.

There are different types of cheats:

      • Five -Fifteen Rare Candies per 2 KM Egg hatched.

      • Ten to Twenty One Rare Candies per 5 KM Egg hatched.

      • Sixteen to Thirty Two Rare Candies per 10 KM Egg hatched.

      • One Rare Candy per Buddy distance walked.

      • One Rare Candy per Pokemon Traded > 25 KM.

      • Two to Ten Rare Candies, sometimes, from beating Raid Bosses.

      • One Rare Candy for completing specific Field Research tasks.

Here are 3 tricks that can work well on Pokemon Go rare candy cheat.

    More Berries Than Ever

We explained in our primer that razz berries are items you can feed a Pokemon to slow it down before you capture it. Updates have introduced multiple types of berries that each have different effects.Nanab Berries: Use these berries to slow down a wild Pokemon’s movements. Strategic use of these can be key to capturing a particularly elusive ‘Mon.Pinap Berries: These double the amount of Candy you get as a reward if your next attempt to capture a Pokemon succeeds. It’s a bit of a risk though, because if you fail to capture your next target the berry goes to waste.Razz Berries: Mechanics haven’t changed here. Razz Berries can still be fed to a wild Pokemon to make it easier to catch.Golden Razz Berries: Like their less shiny cousins, the Golden Razz Berries have the same function of making it easy to capture wild Pokemon, but are much more powerful. You can use berries in tandem with a stronger Pokeball to catch particularly feisty or extremely rare Pokemon that cross your path. However, don’t use multiple berries at a time since their effects don’t stack. One of the aspiring trainers right here in the PCMag Labs caught themselves a Dragonair doing just that. Feed the Pokemon a razz berry, take out a Great Ball, give it some good arc on your throw, and catching just got a whole lot easier.

    Capturing Charmander And Pikachu

When you want to get Charmander can be easy. Once you beat the game and the credits roll, youll be back in your room.

Head outside and go to Hops house, go upstairs and head to the room on the right. Youll find a Poke Ball on the floor and thats where youll get Charmander.

You can get Pikachu by trading it from Lets Go Eevee or Pikachu. However, there is a way to get it without trading. Go to Route 4 and find the yellow grasses where Pikachu will pop up.

It is very rare so you need to make sure to catch it when you can. It is advisable to use Normal-type moves to ensure that it doesnt get killed right away.

Should I Spend Rare Candy On Legendary Pokmon

Another visual glitch (Happened when tapping on buddy ...

Yes! Legendary Pokémon are the best option for Rare Candy, because unlike wild Pokémon or Egg hatches, the only way to get more Candy for them is to raid which costs money. Legendaries are also very unlikely to be caught without a Golden Razz Berry, which makes the Pineapp Berry method a risk. Still, though, Pokémon GO now has a host of Legendary Pokémon but which one is worth your investment? Here are the top five.

In addition to the above, note that Shadow Pokémon have a 20% attack boost. If you have, for example, an amazing Shadow Entei from Giovanni, or a top-tier Shadow Moltres from GO Fest 2020, those are going to be unparalleled attackers and are also well-worth your Rare Candy.

Best Legendary And Mythical Pokmon To Use Rare Candy On

Legendary Pokémon are usually the safest rare candy investment, because unlike other species, you cant catch them in the wild and they dont hatch from eggs. So the only way of farming lets say Rayquaza candies is by doing Rayquaza raids or setting it as your buddy and walking 20km to get one Rayquaza candy.

Mythical Pokémon on the other hand are a slightly different case. Some of them can be caught in raids whereas others are unique and you can only get one of each.

Here is my shortlist of legendary/mythical Pokémon that are worth spending rare candy on and a short explanation of why they have been picked:

    Legendary & Mythical Pokémon shortlist
    • Can mega evolve in the future. Its mega will be crazy good
    • Best non-mega & non-shadow fire type attacker
    • Signature moves: Fusion Flare and Blue Flare
    • Usable in PvP, but there are better options

    Evolve That Eevee Rename It

If you remember the original Pokemon cartoon, you may recall the three Eevee Brothers, who each owned one of Eevee’s evolutions: a Flareon, Jolteon, and Vaporeon. If you nickname your Eevee one of the brothers’ punny names, then it will evolve into your desired evolution! Want a Flareon? Then name it Pyro. Want a Jolteon? Name it Sparky! Jonesing for a Vaporeon? Then call it Rainer. This may not work all the time, however it’s an almost-guaranteed way to evolve one of your Eevees, but this weird method may not work 100 percent of the time.

    What Are Shiny Pokmon

Shiny Pokémon are short versions of Pokémon that are differently colored than their regular versions. They have a unique appearance and are extremely rare to find. For each Pokémon, only one shiny version exists. An icon above their CP can identify a Shiny Pokémon. However, in the Map view and Sightings view, Shiny Pokémon look the same as their regular versions. They appear in their shiny form on the Encounter screen and on the Summary page, where they also have an aura of stars around them and a shiny icon above their CP.

Shiny Pokémon is unique to each player, so one player might encounter a Shiny Pokémon in a particular area. In contrast, another player might encounter its regular version in the same area. The probability of finding Shiny Pokémon is higher in special events like Community Days or Pokémon GO Fests. In some cases, Shiny Pokémon can also be hatched from eggs.

Best Mythical Pokemon To Use Rare Candy On

There are only a few Mythical Pokemon in Pokemon Go but among them only few are actually worth your rare candy. To begin with Mythical Pokemon are very rare in Pokemon, and they can only be obtained via Raids or Special Research Quests like A Mythical Discovery and Lets Go Meltan.

Moreover, a Mythical Pokemon cant be traded and most of them can only be acquired once through their respective Special Research Quests. This makes them even rarer than most of the Legendary Pokemon in game, hence they have their Mythical status.
