Pokemon Not In Sword And Shield

All Pokemon Sword And Shield Exclusives

Pokemon Sword/Shield are NOT too easy

As it is with all other Pokemon titles, both Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield will yield exclusive Pokemon that are only catchable in one version of the game. It is likely that these Pokemon can only be gained in the other version of the game, through trading. See all version-exclusive Pokemon on the chart below.

Pokmon Sword Or Shield: Version

From the early days, the main difference between the Pokémon releases has been that one version will have Pokémon the other doesnt and vice versa. The same is still true for Sword and Shield.

For some players this wont make an iota of difference, but if you have a favorite creature that the game just isn’t worth playing without, its worth making sure they won’t be exclusive to a particular version before you make that Pokémon Sword or Shield decision. It’s always possible to find someone to trade with if you have missed out and you can always buy both versions, if you want to but that’s a bit of a rigmarole and can be avoided if you want an easier life.

Below are the version exclusive Pokémon for Sword and Shield, with their respective types.

Missing Pokemon In The Glimwood Tangle

Now, this is a form of criticism that there could have been bigger expectations from in a very interesting area in Galar. In past Pokemon games, any structured forest areas of every region were more developed and contained more obstacles. It feels like the Glimwood Tangle was too easy to navigate through from a players point of view, and even more so with limited Pokemon that are catchable in this area. Where the argument of the article states that the developers did not include past Pokemon, a bigger loss here is that the Glimwood Tangle could have included more new Pokemon that called the forest home. Alongside Impidimp and Galarian Ponyta, there should have been more mysterious Pokemon featured that were either Fairy, Psychic, Dark, Ghost, or Grass-type Pokemon. Of course, including other missing Pokemon that should have been taken advantage of here include Flabébés and Misdreavus evolutionary line.

With Pokemons anniversary right around the corner, perhaps it is not too late for a patch update to include the National Dex and let trainers transfer missing Pokemon from their Pokemon Home profiles. Who knows what else is in store for future Pokemon titles and if they will also have the absence of the National Dex? Only time will tell with what Gamefreak has prepared for Pokemon fans.

Genshin Impact Still Refuses To Increase Anniversary Rewards Despite Fan Outcry

Many fans are angry butit actually makes a lot of sense given the context here.

Pokémon Sword and Shield on Switch is perhaps the largest step forward the series has ever made, going from handheld-only graphics to console-quality graphics. What that means is that animation for the Pokémon is now a lot more involved than before, so I dont think its realistic to expect Game Freak and The Pokémon Company to animate all 800+ species of Pokémon for a new Switch version of the game given this leap forward. We are a long, long way from Game Boy or DS sprites here.

And while the contingent who is upset about the removal of the National Pokedex is loud, I do wonder what percent of the Pokémon population they actually represent, as this seems like an issue that most players may not notice or care about that much. But Pokémon fans are passionate, and this has been a big dust-up for the game.

Regardless, I doubt anyone is seriously boycotting Sword and Shield over this, and will play it when it comes out this fall. The Galar Pokedex is constantly being updated with new entries here, so you can see whats made the cut so far.

Shoutout To These Pokmon Who Will Not See The Light Of Day Anytime Soon

Pokémon Sword and Shield are complete, with the Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra DLCs finally released for fans to enjoy. As much as the game adds new and returning Pokémon, about 234 Pokémon are unobtainable in these games, as documented by Serebii.

Sadly, fans around the world are not able to catch em all, so here are our top 10 Pokémon that sadly did not make the cut in this generation of Pokémon. Honourable mentions go out to the various early-game Normal, Bug, and Flying-types, i.e. your Ratatas, Weedles, Pidgeys, and their generational ilk.

Starter Pokémon

While this might be a little cheating, the fact is if your favourite starter lines are not from the first, third, or eighth generation of Pokémon, then there is just no way of getting them into the latest Pokémon games. Whether it is the classic Typhlosion line, the ever-cool Greninja line, or the elegant Serperior line, any of your favourites from Generations II, IV, V, VI, or VII are not coming back anytime soon.

Zebstrika

You would think that a region based on the United Kingdom would feature every horse Pokémon ever made and yet, besides two newly introduced Legendaries in the Crown Tundra, only Galarian Ponyta, Rapidash, and the Mudsdale line are available throughout Galar. Sure, Zebstrika is based on a Zebra, but its definitely close enough. This Generation V Pokémon gave a lot of players a fighting chance during the early parts of Black and White.

Darkrai

Pachirisu

Deoxys

Ampharos

Minior

Arceus

The official Pokemon website has revealed that from November 15 – January 2020, Pokemon Sword players are more likely to encounter Gigantamax Drednaw, while Pokemon Shield players have a higher chance of encountering Gigantamax Corviknight. The Pokemon you may encounter are set to change over time for both versions.

Pokemon Sword And Shield Differences: Zacian And Zamazenta

Pokemon Sword and Shield Review

As is the norm, there are two Pokemon Sword and Shield Legendaries, with one exclusive to each version. Zacian, the one with a sword in its mouth, will be exclusive to Pokemon Sword. Guess which game Zamazenta will be in… Pokemon Gun! No, we’re kidding Zamazenta will be obtainable in Pokemon Shield. Both Legendaries are available through the game’s main storyline.

There is also a third Legendary called Eternatus, which is obtainable in both Pokemon Sword and Shield.

When the Crown Tundra DLC was released, and fans took part in the Dynamx Adventures, many were surprised to see the return of Combuskin, Grovyle, and Marshtomp arriving as one of the Pokémon that could be obtained in a DLC sidequest.

But, those were the last of the older Starter Pokémon that could be obtained in Galar. Cynadquil, Piplup, Oshawott, and even Greninja were a no-show. Greninja’s absence is especially painful, as it was also featured in both Detective Pikachu and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. However, it seems like that wasn’t enough.

Game Freak Currently Has No Plans To Add Missing Pokemon In Sword/shield Later On

EVERY Pokemon NOT RETURNING – SWORD And SHIELD CROWN TUNDRA!

Posted on November 10, 2019 by Brian in News, Switch

Game Freak made it known earlier this year that not all Pokemon can be brought over to Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield. Based on early leaks, quite a number of creatures were cut. While some fans have held out hope that theyll be added later on through opportunities such as updates, it sounds like that wont be happening.

Speaking with Dutch site InsideGamer, producer Junichi Masuda made it clear that Game Freak isnt planning on adding missing Pokemon from the Galar Pokedex at a later point. He also again pointed out how the upcoming Pokemon Home app can be used to collect and display Pokemon from past titles.

Masuda said:

These Are The 234 Pokemon Still Absent From Pokemon Sword And Shield

YoeriderComments

Last week, the Crown Tundra DLC for Pokemon Sword And Shield was released, accompanied by a free update which made several returning Pokemon from past titles into the games.

That said, there still remain 234 old Pokemon that currently cannot be transferred or used in Pokemon Sword and Shield. Going by Generation, Generation III has the most missing Pokemon at 49, while Generation VII has the least missing at 11.

Will More Pokmon Be Transferrable In The Future

At the moment, there’s still a large contingent of Pokémon not available in Sword/Shield simply due to the fact that their data isn’t in the game. Those Pokémon cannot be transferred into the game until their data is put in, so it’s hard to say exactly how many – or which – Pokémon will be made available to transfer in the future.

However, with the Pokémon Sword & Shield expansion pass coming, Nintendo has already confirmed that over 200 Pokémon from past games are making their way back, and will be transferrable using Pokémon Home once they arrive. Of the 200 returning, Volcarona, Kingdra, Dedenne, Aurorus, Nidorino, and Sealeo have all been confirmed to be in the expansion pass, with many more left to be named. When the full list of returning Pokémon is confirmed, we’ll be sure to update the list, so make sure to keep checking back for future updates.

With The Crown Tundra now available to enjoy in Pokémon Sword and Shield, the series’ eighth generation of games is theoretically complete. Alongside the base games, we’ve had The Crown Tundra and The Isle of Armor DLC packs, both of which have added more content and more Pokémon into the mix.

As you’ll no doubt remember from the months leading up to the games’ release, some fans were left desperately upset after realising that not every monster would be returning. The DLC has gone some way to restoring this, but there are still 234 of the little beasts that are unavailable to obtain in the games, either natively or through trading from past titles.

We suppose it’s possible that Game Freak could still decide to add them in with a later patch, but assuming the DLC is well and truly finished, here are those 234 Pokémon that remain unavailable :
