Pokemon Adventures Ruby And Sapphire

Must read

Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire

pokemon adventures ruby and sapphire anime opening

The Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire arc focuses on the returning Hoenn trio of Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald based on the Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphrire versions of the game. Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald acquire Mega Bracelets and Mega Stones from Steven to help aid his quest to save the Earth from impending doom by a meteorite while Ruby encounters a mysterious girl along the way. Sapphire is traumatized when she learns the truth about the meteor, and in result of that trauma she loses her voice and sense of smell. Ruby takes on the role of lorekeeper and gets Rayquaza to trust him so they can save the world through the use of dragon lore. It is based primarily on the events of the Delta Episode in the games.

The arc was released digitally on Shogakukan’s “Web Sunday,” with a new chapter on the first Tuesday of every month. The first mini-volume was released in Japan on July 24, 2015. It has currently ended in Japan with the third and final mini-volume now released

Introduces The Concept Of Latios & Latias Raising A Human

Latios and Latias are Legendary Pokemon introduced in the Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald games. Like the Legendary Beasts, they travel all across the map, forcing the player to chase after them. In the games, that’s their main purpose. But in the manga, anime, and movies, Latios and Latias have a lot more character and agency.

In the 2003 movie Pokemon Heroes: Latios and Latias, the Eon Duo show off their skill at;disguising themselves as humans. In the Emerald manga, the Duo show off this power again, as well as their ability to share their sight with anyone they choose. Latios and Latias dont play a huge part in the story, but they do help on occasion. Plus, they’re the ones who raised Emerald;since he was very young.

Guile Hideout Is A Brand New Villain

The antagonist of this section is completely unique as well. Technically he’s not a;new villain, considering its just the leader of Team Aqua, Archie, in a special suit of armor.;But, this version of Archie is a lot more fanatical. He;has a sword that can reflect any attack, and is more bent on destruction than ever before.

Common sense;might;predict that;Archie is trying to catch Jirachi, in order to wish that his body would stop breaking down after being “possessed” by Kyogre in the previous section. But in reality, he wishes for something a lot more nonsensical. This armored madman ends up using Jirachi’s wish-based powers to summon a gigantic body of water in the shape of Kyogre. He aims to flood the Battle Frontier, take out his enemies, and possibly even flood the entire planet. But if that was his goal, why not wish the planet was flooded from the get-go?

Pokemon Snap’s Todd Is A Central Character

Of all the main characters of the Pokemon;games, Todd Snap, the protagonist of Pokemon Snap, is likely one of the least memorable. Oddly enough though, the Emerald section of the manga gives this photographer a lot of unexpected characterization.

Todd basically functions as Emeralds closest confidant throughout the events of the Emerald section. It’s only at the end of this story that Oak shows up, and invites Todd to the island where;Pokemon Snap would eventually take place.

Gold Silver & Crystal

Pokémon Adventures (Ruby and Sapphire), Vol. 18

The third adventure is based on the Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal versions of the game. It features the protagonists Gold, Silver and Crystal, and is centered mostly around the Johto region, with Gold as the point of view character. Gold first started his journey to chase a thief that broke into Professor Elm’s lab, and stole a Totodile. Gold then made it his mission to get Totodile back from Silver , and follows Silver. In Gold’s quest to steal back Totodile, he decided to become fully involved in Silver’s life. But following him gets him wrapped up in Neo Team Rocket , and Gold tries to stop them. In a shocking reveal, it turns out one of the gym leaders is the Neo Team Rocket’s leader, the Ice type gym leader, Pryce. He was also the Mask of Ice, a mysterious man who kidnapped Silver and Green as children. The Johto Trio then stop both Neo Rocket and the Mask of Ice in a dramatic final battle to end off the chapter.

Prior To Ruby & Sapphire Chapter

As a young child, Ruby lived with his father, Norman, and his mother in Goldenrod City in Johto region. He and his family traveled to the Hoenn region so Norman could take a test to become a Gym Leader. During their stay, Ruby met and played with Professor Birch‘s daughter, Sapphire and later protected her from a Salamence that attacked them. Despite winning, the injuries he sustained in the battle caused Sapphire to break down crying. Believing he was too fierce and scared her, Ruby decided to give up battling and instead chose to focus on making his Pokémon beautiful and appealing to others.

Ruby debuted in Creeping Past Cacnea, where he and his mother moved to Littleroot Town in the Hoenn region. Shortly after settling in his new home, Ruby ran away to begin his quest to conquer all of Hoenn’s Pokémon Contests and convince his father to stop trying to train him in Pokémon battling. At Route 101, Ruby found Professor Birch under attack by a pair of wild Mightyena, but refused to help at the risk of getting his Pokémon dirty. When he tried convincing the Mightyena to join his team, they began chasing after him. An unfazed Ruby found Birch’s bag containing a Pokédex and used it to gather information on the two Bite Pokémon.

The Concept Of Calming Pokemon Using Soil

One of the most interesting concepts in the Adventures manga is each Pokedex Holder’s special power or expertise, unique to them. For example, Red is the best battler, while Blue is the best trainer. Gold is a hatching expert, and Silver is a pro at evolving Pokemon.

For his part,;Emerald is the Calmer.” He uses this power to calm Pokemon by surrounding them with little balls of soil from;that Pokemon’s native;environment. Though this ability has nothing to do with any concepts from the games,;it matches the theme of empathy that the games promote.;

Pokémon Ruby Version and Pokémon Sapphire Version are 2002 role-playing video games developed by Game Freak, published by The Pokémon Company and Nintendo for the Game Boy Advance. They are the first installments in the third generation of the Pokémon video game series, also known as the “advanced generation”. After years of Nintendo being the sole publisher of the franchise in all regions, The Pokémon Company co-published the games for the first time since the establishment of the joint-owned company in 1998. They were first released in Japan in late 2002 and internationally in 2003. Pokémon Emerald, an enhanced version, was released two years later in each region. Remakes of the two games, titled Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, were released for the Nintendo 3DS worldwide in November 2014, exactly twelve years to the date of the original Ruby and Sapphire release date, with the exception of Europe, where it released a week later.

The End Goal For This Section Is Unique To The Manga

If the Emerald section of Pokemon Adventures has almost nothing to do with the Ruby and Sapphire game plot, what is the point;of it all?;At first, it seems like its all about Emeralds journey of conquering the Battle Frontier a pretty simple premise.

But as more events unfold, it turns out that Emerald is trying to conquer the Frontier to find Jirachi. He hopes to use this Wish Pokemon to un-petrify Silver, Green, Blue, Yellow, and Red from the stone they were encased in at the end of the Ruby and Sapphire manga.;

Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Arc

Sapphire first appears trying to train up both her and Ruby’s Kirlia in the hopes that they both evolve into Gardevoir. However, just as the two prepare to evolve, Sapphire accidentally kicks a Dawn Stone on the ground towards her own Kirlia, who evolves into Gallade instead of Gardevoir. Emerald laughs at the idea of Sapphire owning such a manly evolution and Ruby’s evolving into a feminine one. Sapphire gets angry and attempts to smash Emerald with a huge boulder as Steven Stone watches.

Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Chapter

The Hoenn Pokédex holders were enlisted by Steven and Mr. Stone to prevent a meteoroid from crashing into the Earth and destroying it. Steven gave the three a Mega Bracelet, enabling them to use Mega Evolution and had them train with Ultima so Mumu, Chic, and Sceptile could fully master the Ultimate Moves. Ruby only agreed to help on the condition that Sapphire be kept in the dark about the meteoroid. While Sapphire and Emerald practiced with each other, Ruby had plans elsewhere and lent Mumu to Sapphire so it could train without him.

In Omega Alpha Adventure 1, Ruby arrived at Southern Island, where he met Latios and Latias again. After telling them about the crisis, Ruby and Latios traveled to the Sky Pillar by soaring through the sky. After encountering and defeating the Draconid, Zinnia, Ruby learned that she sent the Salamence that attacked the Pokémon Associaton facility years ago. Before leaving, Zinnia told that she planned on stopping the meteoroid alone, without the Devon Corporation‘s help.

With the crisis averted, Ruby and Sapphire participated in a Contest Spectacular together. With the Diancite he obtained from Hoopa’s rings, Ruby Mega Evolved Diancie for his performance.

Rayquaza Doesn’t Even Show Up

Pokémon Adventures (Ruby and Sapphire), Vol. 21

The Emerald section is one of the only examples in the manga where the flagship Legendary on the corresponding game box doesnt show up at all. Even Kyogre and Groudon dont make an appearance in these volumes, though there is a Kyogre lookalike that pops up near the end.

RELATED: Some;Popular Gaming Myths

Rayquaza is one of the most beloved Pokemon in the franchise, so its absence from Emerald’s adventures seems like an odd choice. Luckily, this is fixed in the Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire section, where Rayquaza is the most intimidating it has ever been.

Gold & Crystal Are Around More Than Ruby & Sapphire

The two main characters from the Ruby and Sapphire games;have little;impact the story of Emerald. A;lot of previous protagonists show up over the course of events in this section, but Ruby and Sapphire arguably contribute the least. In fact, Gold and Crystal seem to do more in comparison, even before all the other Pokedex holders are un-petrified.

Maybe the Adventures team didnt want to put too much focus on these two, considering they were the focus of the previous arc of the manga. It only gives more credence to the idea that the Emerald;manga is an entirely separate story from the Emerald game.;

Sun Moon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon

This chapter features a boy named Sun who is a courier with the hope of gathering 100 million Yen and a girl named Moon who is a pharmacist and an archer. In order to calm the wrath of the Tapu, one of which unexpectedly attacked them, the guardian deities of Alola, they embarked on an island challenge journey, and will face Team Skull and Aether Foundations Ultra Beast-related conspiracy, the mysterious creatures come from another dimension Ultra Space.

Ruby And Sapphire Chapter

An Overview photo in the start of the RS Chapter about Sapphire.

This is where Sapphire debuted and to which she first met Ruby. She first had a rocky start with him and always getting irritated seeing him, she also challenged Ruby to complete both of their goals in a time limit of 80 days. Both of them met more and more when they traveled through Hoenn and also facing either Team Aqua or Magma, but as time passed by she started liking him. She stated her confession to Ruby that she likes him. It was later revealed that Ruby was her childhood friend. In the end they were able to stop the menace in Hoenn, at the same time, both of them traveled together.

Jirachi Is The Main Focus

Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire New Hoenn Adventure!

As;mentioned;before,;Emeralds end goal for this section is to un-petrify the Pokedex wielders who were frozen in stone. The Wish Pokemon, known as Jirachi, also dwells on the same island as the Battle Frontier. Emerald was planning on using Jirachis wish-granting ability for this purpose.

Again, it is very odd that Jirachi takes center stage over Rayquaza, considering Rayquaza is the iconic Legendary of the Emerald game.;Then again,;there’s no conceivable way that;Rayquaza could have un-petrified those heroes.

Emerald Isnt Like Other Pokemon Adventures Protagonists

Like most of the other Adventures sections, the main character of this section has the same name as the section itself, Emerald. But unlike most of the other characters, Emerald isnt based on either of the playable;characters of the games. Instead, he’s a completely original character unique to the manga series.

Theres only one other example of this in the Pokemon Adventures series: Yellow, the happy-go-lucky female trainer;and;main character of the Yellow section. Both of these characters actually have a lot in common too.

Its Plot Has Little To Do With The Game It’s Based On

The Emerald;section has almost nothing to do with the Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald story from the games. Pokemon Emerald was the third and more complete version of Ruby and Sapphire, which told the same story.

In Pokemon Emerald, players got to fight both Team Aqua and Team Magma, as well as encounter all three Legendaries in the Weather Trio. But in comparison, the Emerald Adventures manga;section has almost nothing to do with that plotline. Instead, it is almost entirely centered around the Battle Frontier.;

Connectivity To Other Devices

Ruby and Sapphire have limited e-Reader support. Nintendo released Battle-e Cards, a set of e-Reader cards that contained trainer battles in which the player could see previously-hidden Pokémon. A special e-Reader card called the Eon Ticket was also released; obtained through the Mystery Gift function, the Ticket allows the player to reach a place called Southern Island. There, the player faces either Latios or Latias, depending on which version of the game is used.

Ruby and Sapphire are also able to connect to the GameCube games Pokémon Colosseum, Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness and Pokémon Box: Ruby and Sapphire. In the former two, once players reach a certain point in the game, they are able to transfer Pokémon between Colosseum / XD and Ruby / Sapphire. Additionally, those who pre-ordered Colosseum were able to access the Pokémon Jirachi and see a preview of the movie Pokémon: Jirachi Wish Maker. Pokémon Box allows players to store and organize their Pokémon on the GameCube. Also, in the European version of Pokémon Channel, players could receive a Jirachi at a certain point in the game, which they could then transfer over to Ruby or Sapphire.
