Nobody knows when these items are going to be available, but the purpose of this guide is to analyse how there are going to be obtained by trainers.

Pokemon Go evolution items are crucial if you want to complete the Pokedex and collect some of the strongest Pokemon in the game. There are a lot of different items and methods for evolving Pokemon in Pokemon Go though, which is where this guide comes in handy. We’ve got all of the Pokemon Go evolution items listed here for you to peruse and learn exactly what they do, so you know which ones to hunt for.

How To Get Evolution Items

The only thanks to getting evolution items are by spinning PokeStops. Like with the new berries, though, they do not drop as often as balls and razz berries. Where In The World

For the time being, each of the Pokémon world regions that have been released to Pokémon Go are also Search Terms. These include Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Unova. However, two regions are currently being used as other Search Terms: Alola and Galar. Pokémon Go still hasn’t seen the Kalos Region with Generation VI, but due to the introduction of Regional Variants, these Search Terms can already be used. Either way, these Search Terms aren’t particularly useful on their own, given that smallest Generations still have over 70 Pokémon.

However, as of an app update in late March 2017 you are now guaranteed an Evolution Item for a 7-day Pokestop streak.

How To Use The Kings Rock In Pokemon Go

Now heres where the choices come in. Kings Rock can be used in two different ways, which means you might already have the candies you need for at least one Pokemon evolution.

Kings Rock can not only evolve Poliwhirl into the froglike Politoed, it also turns Slowpoke into Slow King. As ever youre going to need serious candies for both Pokemon.

Who Can Evolve With The Up

In Pokemon GO, there is only one Pokemon that can use an Up-Grade to evolve: the Normal-type Pokemon Porygon. Porygon, famous for being the star of one of the Pokemon anime’s banned episodes, is somewhat difficult to find in Pokemon GO, so players will have to walk around until they happen upon one, or hatch one from an egg.

Catching Porygon is only half the battle. In the main series of Pokemon games, players have to obtain a Porygon, have it hold the Up-Grade item, and then trade it with another player to make it evolve into Porygon2. Evolving Porygon into Porygon2 is simpler in Pokemon GO, but it still requires players to do more than just collect the Up-Grade.

Besides getting the Up-Grade from a PokeStop, players also have to make sure they have 50 Porygon candies to evolve Porygon into Porygon2. Of course, since Porygon is a somewhat rare Pokemon as it is, collecting enough candy to evolve it is easier said than done.

One method of earning Porygon candy is by catching duplicate Porygon in the wild, and another is hatching more Porygon from eggs, which will give players the most candy. While players will get the most Porygon candy by hatching them from eggs, the only way to guarantee Porygon candy is by assigning Porygon to be a buddy Pokemon and walking around with it.

How To Evolve Eevee Into Leafeon And Glaceon

Leafeon and Glaceon are a little easier to plan for when trying to evolve an Eevee, as they require specific items and locations in order to get them.

First you’ll need a special type of Lure from the Shop–either a Mossy Lure or a Glacial Lure –which cost 200 Pokecoins each. Next, head to a nearby PokeStop and activate the lure corresponding to the Eeveelution you’re looking for, Mossy forLeafeon or Glacial for Glaceon. Finally, use 25 Eevee Candies to evolve the Eevee into the form of choice.

Once again there’s a nickname for each form that can bypass these requirements, but as before the nicknames only work one time. If you need a quick Leafeon or Glaceon and can’t get to a PokeStop, here’s the names to use:

So, a possible solution to this problem is to enable collection of evolution items only on the seventh day the player opens a PokéStop!

But of course, that spin should guarantee an evolution item drop.

A third option?

The third option is to introduce a completely new way to obtain items in the game: missions! In this case, the possibilities are almost endless, as the feature can be implemented in different ways, for example:

Capture a set amount of Pokemon of the same type
Evolve a set amount of Pokemon of the same type
Defeat a set amount of Pokemon in gyms

How To Use The Metal Coat In Pokemon Go

The Metal Coat can be used on two different Pokemon too, and as you’d expect, they both turn into Steel types. If you evolve Scyther, you can obtain the snappy Scizor, while Onix the rock snake will turn into Steelix.

It’s very likely that there will be more of these items coming to Pokémon GO. There are many more Pokémon in later generations that evolve by using an item, whether it’s as a consumable or by holding something in particular and being traded. In fact, Gen 1 also had these, but it seems Niantic are reluctant to retroactively make it more difficult to acquire Pokémon like Vileplume, Victreebel, Poliwrath and Arcanine, all of which need items to evolve in the games.
