Trainers, Niantic has shared that the choice between Red and Green version of the Kanto Tour event is coming soon! The Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto event takes place on Saturday, February 20, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. local time.

Ticket holders have until the end of the event to choose between Red Version or Green Version. When opening the app, youll be prompted to pick a version before you can participate.

Red Version


  • Red VersionExclusive Pokémon: Ekans, Oddish, Mankey, Growlithe, Scyther, and Electabuzz will be attracted to Incense.
  • Youll have an increased chance of encountering these Shiny Pokémon: Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Pidgey, Ekans, Pikachu, Nidoran, Oddish, Diglett, Mankey, Growlithe, Ponyta, Shellder, Drowzee, Krabby, Hitmonlee, Lickitung, Scyther, Electabuzz, Eevee, Kabuto, and Dratini.

Green Version

    The Pokémon Go Kanto Tour event will start at 09:00 local time on February 20th.

    This Pokémon Go Kanto Tour event is exclusive to those who have purchased a ticket for $11.99, and it will end on the same day at 21:00 local time.

    Niantics event will follow the below schedule:

    • 09:00-10:00: Pallet Town

    This Celebration event will run from 10:00 local time on February 21st until 20:00 local time on February 28th, and it will include exclusive field research tasks plus more.

    How To Choose Your Version Of Pokmon Go Tour: Kanto

    You can pick which version of Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto – Red or Green – after you’ve bought a ticket for the event. Before you do, however, it’s important to consider your decision carefully, because you can’t change it.

Red Kanto Tour ticket owners just need to find another players to trade with for them. A Green ticket owner is the best choice as were not 100% positive that any trade counts, but it seems to based on current player feedback.

The only difference is which Pokemon will be attracted to incense and which ones have a higher chance of being shiny, so there isn’t a core gameplay feature you’ll be missing out on by picking the wrong one. The following Pokemon are the ones that will have a higher chance of being shiny, depending on which version you pick.

    Red and Green:

    The Green Incense Collection Challenge is specific to that version of Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto. If you chose to play the Red version of the event, then you’ll have to catch a different list of Pokémon outlined in the section above.

    Both versions of this Collection Challenge are only available to players who purchased a ticket for the event and it must be completed by Sunday, 28th February at 7:59pm .

    Unlike other Collection Challenges, such as Pewter City, this one is focused around catching the Pokémon which are exclusively attracted to Incense in the Green version of the event. This means that you must use an Incense to find and catch the Pokémon if you wish to add the Collection Challenge to your Elite Collector medal.

    Here are the six Pokémon need for the Green version of the Incense Collection Challenge:

    • Sandshrew
    • Magmar
    • Pinsir

    Remember – you must find these Pokémon via Incense to have their capture counts towards this challenge and both Shadow Pokémon and ones hatched from eggs are exempt too.

    Kanto Themed Raid Day And Team Go Rocket Takeover

    Last, but certainly not least, the Kanto Celebration, as well as the Season of Celebration will finish off with a Kanto Themed Raid Day and a Team GO Rocket Takeover. On Sunday, February 28, from 11 AM til 2 PM local time, Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres will be appearing in even more Raids and have increased Shiny Rates.
