Mega Evolution Becomes Mega Tier Raid Pokemon
Until October 22, 2021, Mega Gengar will be the Raid boss for the Mega tier. This should give trainers several weeks to try and beat Mega Gengar in a Raid battle and potentially catch it.
Without a doubt, any trainer with three allies or less is going to fail at this Raid battle. Mega Gengar is so strong that it can melt Pokemons health away in seconds.
Since its such a huge threat, it is highly recommended that trainers reach out to the community for help with this Pokemon. Whether it be through Discord, Facebook, or another website, trainers who have multiple friends in the area should team up as much as they can to face Mega Gengar.
Just to prove how powerful Mega Gengar is, Deoxys Defense Forme is a good Pokemon to test Mega Gengar’s strength against. It’s a Psychic-type with one of the highest Defense stats in the game . Despite the fact that it’s so bulky and does super-effective damage in return, Deoxys Defense Forme as a Raid boss still drops to Mega Gengar in 765.9 seconds.
Mega Gengar can even destroy Pokemon that it doesnt have a type advantage against. Looking at Lucarios Raid counters, Mega Gengar is the 26th ranked Pokemon, behind several Fire-types.
Of course, since this Pokemon is clearly a threat to be reckoned with, trainers are going to need Pokemon who counter it. In this effort, Dark-type are going to be a trainers best friend. These Pokemon resist all of Mega Gengars attacks while applying huge damage to it.

How To Get Mega Gengar In Pokemon Go
Pokemon GO trainers should definitely plan to get a Mega Gengar, since this Pokemon is simply too powerful to pass up on.
Gengar was one of several Generation I Pokemon to receive Mega evolutions in Generation VI . In both the main series games and in Pokemon GO, Mega Gengar gets enormous offensive stats that allows it to steamroll many opponents. Any trainer who picks up this Pokemon is guaranteed to perform better in PvP and Raids.
Pokemon Go Mega Gengar Moveset
Being a Ghost and Poison-type, trainers should expect one or both of those types of attacks when going up against Mega Gengar in Raids.
Its Fast Attacks can be either Hex or Shadow Claw, two Ghost-type attacks, or Sucker Punch a Dark-type move. This combination makes it difficult to justify bringing a Ghost or Psychic-type Pokemon into battle unless you dont have many options. Also, Dark types can resist all of Mega Gengars Fast Attacks giving them another advantage in battle.
For its Charge Attacks, Mega Gengar has a variety of options. Shadow Ball is a powerful Ghost-type move, which can really damage Ghost and Psychic types while Sludge Bomb is a Poison-type attack that other Ghost types can resist.
Trainers need to be wary of Focus Blast as it is a Fighting-type attack that can deal super effective damage against many Dark types they bring into battle. The suggested team screen can give trainers a clue as to which moves Mega Gengar may have.
If it suggests Psychic types, Mega Gengar will likely have Focus Blast. If Ghost types and Ground types appear then it will likely have Sludge Bomb as they resist it. Trainers that see plenty of Dark types being suggested then its likely that Mega Gengar has Shadow Ball.
Use that to your advantage when selecting your team. Heres every Fast and Charge Attack that Mega Gengar can have in Pokemon Go:

Where To Find Shiny Gengar
Shiny Gengar might be found in the same region as Gengar, which is Kanto. However, do keep in mind that the ghost type Pokemon is very mischievous and messes around with trainers in the wild. To evolve the Haunter to Gengar, players need to arrange 100 candies.
As far as the Shiny Gengar evolution guide is concerned, it can be evolved into Shiny Mega Gengar by using an ultimate gem. Shiny Gengar is a strong Pokemon. During the Pilot episode, this Pokemon was fighting in one of the biggest Pokemon Tournaments. Every player wants to have Gengar in their Pokemon Go collection. Shiny Gengar can absolutely obliterate its enemies if the players get well-versed with its best move set, stats, and weaknesses.
How To Catch Shiny Gengar In Pokemon Go
The best chance a player has to spot a Shiny Gengar is during Gengar spotlight hours when the Pokemon appears at an increased frequency. Additionally, applying incense will attract the Pokemon to the player and utilizing a lure at any PokeStop will increase a player’s chance of spotting the Pokemon in the wild. Besides, players should be prepared with all the equipment they can bag, like the ultra-balls, great balls and Razz Berries to feed the Pokemon before catching it, which increased the chance of the Pokemon accepting a Pokeball.

Pve Defensive Moves Explanation
- Defending with a Gengar is not advisable due to its very low bulk. That said, Hex hits the hardest and is therefore optimal.
- Shadow Claw has less power and less energy gain than Hex. Don’t bother with Sucker Punch.
- Psychic is a good option and allows Gengar to heavily threaten opposing Machamp.
- Sludge Bomb and Dark Pulse both have 2 bars and are difficult to dodge the former is benefited by STAB.
- Shadow Ball is powerful and narrowly resisted, but can be seen coming from a mile away.
- Focus Blast and Sludge Wave are unusable Gengar will not survive to use them.
- Shadow Punch is great on defense thanks to its low energy cost, STAB, and narrowly avoided typing.

Pokmon Go Raid Day: How To Get Yourself A Shiny Gengar
Pokémon GO is back with another special raid day, something usually reserved for legendary Pokémon, but this time around were going with a spooky Gen 1 entry, Gengar.
Gengar has grown up into one of the most powerful ghost types in the game, so it stands to reason that this is going to be a pretty solid day to try and land yourself a high CP one. Todays Gengars will all have the combination of Lick and Psychic, a pretty solid pairing of moves, and of course, as is a staple of these special raid days, this will be the first time players will be able to get themselves a shiny Gengar.
These raid days are different than Community Days in that theres a much higher chance of landing yourself a shiny than there are during wild spawn events. The reason being is that there are only so many raids you can get to and do in three hours, where there are far more wild spawns for Community Days during the same time period.
The bad news? Shiny Gengar isprobably one of the least exciting shinies in the game. He is just barely a lighter shade of purple, and the difference is so unnoticeable that youll really just have to look for the sparkles to even know you have a shiny on your hands. While this is disappointing, I think we have to keep in mind that not every shiny was designed to be an event like this when originally crafted for Pokémon, so some of these are going to be more lame than others .
The Best Chance A Player Has To Spot A Shiny Gengar Is During Gengar Spotlight Hours When The Pokemon Appears At An Increased Frequency In The Wild
Gengar is one of the most powerful ghost-type Pokemon in the game. It has the combination of Lick and Psychic skills, which gives it a decent couple of moves against other Pokemons. It was back in 2020 when players were able to get a Shiny Gengar for the first time. In such events, the chances of obtaining a Shiny Gengar are very high as compared to the normal ones. Although the shiny version of the Pokemon is just a lighter shade of its original colour, it is still a rare Pokemon to find and own.

Can Gengar Be Shiny In Pokemon Go
The simple answer is yes.
Shiny Gengars tenure in Pokemon GO is fast approaching three years, with the spooky Pokemon releasing as part of a special Raid Day back in November 2018.
Players had their best opportunity of getting a shiny Gengar back in July last year as Gastly featured as the Community Day Pokemon.
Sadly, Shiny Gengar isnt much to look at, turning only a slightly different shade of purple however when Shiny Gengar Mega Evolves, thats when the main differences happen, with many lauding it as the best looking Shiny Mega Pokemon.
