Twenty Years Of Pokmon
2016 officially marked the 20th anniversary of Pokémon, and it was celebrated with a re-release of the original Generation I core series games on the Nintendo 3DS’s Virtual Console worldwide. These games were released on February 27, 2016, coinciding with Red and Green’s original release date in Japan in 1996. In addition, there were further celebrations of the occasion throughout the year, such as rare Pokémon distributions and retail events.
Lugia 1st Edition Neo Genesis
- Release Date: 2000
- Grading: BGS Pristine 10
- Pokemon card value at auction: $144,300
Similar to Mewtwo, Lugia was an iconic Legendary for many children who grew up with the series in the 00s. So it should come as no surprise that its debut as a Pokemon card was a major hit.
While a 1st Edition Lugia broke records by selling for a mind-blowing $129,000 in 2020, a Beckett graded 10 version of the item sold for $144,300 at a PWCC auction in May 2021. BGS grades a lot harder than PSA, making this pristine Pokemon card one of only three in the entire world.
Can We Eat Pokemon
The thought of catching Pokemon and eating them might be gruesome for some trainers. After all, all we know about them is that we help each other in battles. Many might even consider them pets, in all honesty.
That bond between animal and man is obviously evident in the real world, but so too is the slaughter of wild animals for humans to feed on. There is minimal information on this in the Pokemon world. Some scenes have shown people going to eat Pokemon, but the footage almost never gets shown.
In Sword and Shield, we were introduced to the idea of cooking curry to increase the happiness of our catches. Are they eating other Pokemon?
In the past, Brock has had pictures run through his mind of a cooked Magikarp, which would be normal. People eat fish. Slowpoke Tail Quiche has been mentioned in the show, too, not to mention people seemingly licking Vanilluxe.
Do they eat Pokemon though? Some say yes, others say no. It would be quite brutal, if true.

Who Is Arceus Anyway
And finally, there’s the titular Arceus itself. If you’re wondering who is Arceus in Pokemon, well it’s safe to say it’s very important indeed. It’s said to have shaped all there is in the world, and it’s clearly going to have quite an important role to play in this new game. This Normal-Type Pokemon was first introduced during Gen 4, and could be found in Diamond and Pearl by playing the Azure Flute in the Hall of Origin.
However, because that wasn’t an item that could be found in the game organically, but rather was released as an event-exclusive item, players have been on quite the journey to actually get the Mythical beast in their games at the time. In fact, it wasn’t even officially recognized by Nintendo until 2009 when its debut movie arrived.
It was then known as “The Original One”, and is even thought to be the Pokemon that created the Sinnoh region, if not the Pokemon universe itself, including a whole host of other mythical Pokemon such as the lake guardians and the creation trio.
We can’t wait to learn more about this Mythical Pokemon in Pokemon Legends: Arceus when it arrives in early 2022.
Meet Up At The Pokmon House

It ran during Pokémon: XY, Pokémon: Sun & Moon and Pokémon: The New Series.

When Shiny Pokmon Were First Introduced
Shiny Pokémon entered the series much earlier than some may expect, and the chance to hunt them could be thanks to a Red Gyarados in the Lake of Rage.
While there are many things to enjoy about the Pokémon series, Shiny hunting is one of the more popular ways to spend time exploring a games region. Shiny hunting has undergone many changes since it was first added into the series, with more recent titles like X and Y and Sword and Shield purposefully integrating mechanics that allow players to hunt these differently colored Pokémon more easily. However, some fans may be surprised to learn just how long Shiny Pokémon have been a part of the series.
The first Shiny Pokémon encounters were found the Generation 2s Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Platinum. Finding a Shiny Pokémon in the Johto region wasnt easy, as there werent specific methods to help players encounter them in the wild. Generation 2 relied on random wild encounters, with 1/8192 as the potential odds for finding a Shiny. Players would have to run in the grass, caves, or other areas where they could find wild Pokémon and repeatedly engage in random encounters, with no way to increase the odds of an finding being shiny.

What Is The Digimon Franchise
Digimon, which is short for Digital Monsters, is likewise a Japanese media franchise created by Akiyoshi Hongo in 1997. Digimon started off as a series of virtual pets, akin toand influenced in style bythe contemporary Tamagotchi, which was a global hit.
The Digimon franchise focused on Digimon, creatures that were created and evolved as sentient beings thanks to the development of human digital networks. They inhabit the Digital World, where human children usually come to save it, and along with it, their own world.
The Digimon franchise started off quite small, but once the anime series became a global hit, it slowly expanded into other video games, trading cards and other merchandise. The franchise is quite possibly one of the earliest globally popular examples of the isekai genre, which revolves around a normal person from Earth being transported to, reborn or otherwise trapped in a parallel universe or fantasy world, which also speaks of its historical importance.

Advancing To A New Age
In July 2001 an episode of the anime aired in Japan featuring a Pokémon never previously seen Kecleon. Soon, Kecleon and others like Wynaut, Azurill, Duskull and Volbeat showed up in theaters in two Pikachushorts while Wailmer, Latias and Latios were featured in the fifth Pokémon movie. During the Silver Conference Ash battled Harrison, a Trainer from Littleroot Town in Hoenn. Professor Birch, along withotherPokémon, made a cameo in Johto Photo Finish. Through this, it became known that the next generation of Pokémon was just around the corner.
Indeed, a major overhaul of the main game series occurred when Pokémon arrived on the Game Boy Advance on November 21, 2002 when Ruby and Sapphire Versions were released in Japan. Trainers found themselves in the southern land called Hoenn where 135 new Pokémon were waiting to be discovered. The games reached North America on March 18, 2003 and had many new features, the most prominent being Pokémon Contests, Double Battles, Pokémon Abilities and Natures for each Pokémon, along with the reform of effort values and individual values. Also introduced in these versions were more types of weather and two new villainous teams, Team Magma and Team Aqua. Due to the extensive changes to the system, however, this generation was not compatible with earlier generations.

Summary Of Main Series Titles
|Summary of main series titles|
One of the consistent aspects of most Pokémon gamesspanning from on the to the games is the choice of one of three different Pokémon at the start of the player’s adventures these three are often labeled “starter Pokémon”. Players can choose a Grass-type, Fire-type, or Water-type Pokémon indigenous to that particular region. For example, in Pokémon Red and Blue, the player has the choice of starting with , , or . The exception to this rule is Pokémon Yellow, where players are given a , an Electric-type mouse Pokémon, famous for being the mascot of the Pokémon media franchise unique to Pokémon Yellow, the three starter Pokémon from Red and Blue can be obtained during the quest by a single player.
However, in , there are two rivals one picks the Pokémon with a type advantage over the player’s chosen Pokémon, while the other chooses the Pokémon with the type disadvantage. How To Watch Pokmon Without Fillers
One of the things all anime shows have is filler episodes, which are not necessarily important to the storyline. If you want to cut down the time you spend watching Pokémon, you can definitely skip the following episodes:
- Indigo League
- 8-9, 19, 32-33, 37-39, 44, 46, 49, 51, 54, 57, 59, 62, 64-67, 69-70
What Is The Pokemon Legends: Arceus Story
The Pokemon Legends: Arceus story is taking us way back to before any Pokemon games to date. We’ll be exploring the Sinnoh region – the locale for the Pokemon Diamond and Pearl / Gen 4 games – but at a period in Pokemon history that developer Game Freak describes as a “long-gone era”.
The first trailer for the game states that this is “a tale from a long, long time ago,” when the Sinnoh region was still only a vast wilderness. In fact, it goes as far as to say that the Pokemon Legends: Arceus story is set “before ideas such as being a Pokemon Trainer or having a Pokemon League even existed”. The most recent trailer also reiterates this idea by stating that the upcoming adventure tells “a tale of a time long ago when the lives of Pokemon and humans were still separate”.
Your goal is to create and complete the very first ever Sinnoh Pokedex. This will mean discovering and observing every single Pokemon in the Sinnoh region to build out that Pokemon Legends: Arceus Pokedex as part of the new Galaxy team’s Survey Corps.
Interestingly in the latest Pokemon Presents stream, you can see the sky start to split open, and Pokemon seem to be overcome by some kind of shadow that makes them appear to become more aggressive. One thing’s for sure: Beware of Ursaring.

Which Were The Very First Pokmon Created By Game Freak
No, it wasnt Pikachu. Or Bulbasaur, Charmander or Squirtle. The first few Pokémon created during the development of Pokémon Red and Green were Rhyhorn, Lapras and Clefairy, each with their own predetermined roles, such as carrying baggage, giving you a ride across the sea, or simply being a pet.
This little piece of history comes from an old three-part interview with the development staff of Pokémon Red and Green, unearthed by GlitterBerri. You can find links to all three parts here. They make for a very interesting read.
The interview also reveals that Pokémon was originally more RPG-like. As development progressed, however, it became a game about collecting monsters and trying to complete your Pokédex instead. Memory capacity resulted in there being 151 Pokémon in the first set of games, although many more were designed.
This ties into another interesting story we ran last year. Mew, whos #151 in the original Pokédex, was actually squeezed into the games at the last minute, after the removal of debug features created 300 bytes of extra space on the cartridge. He was never intended to be revealed to players, and was instead intended for post-launch promotions.

Pokmon Sword And Shield
Pokémon Sword and Shield is the latest installment in the Pokémon franchise, and are the first installments in the eighth generation of the Pokémon video game series.
The games were developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo and The Pokémon Company in 2019 for the Nintendo D.S.
Continuing with tradition, Sword and Shield chronicle the journey of a young Pokémon trainer thats striving to become a Pokémon Champion.
However, this time around, that game is set in the new Galar region, based on the United Kingdom, and sees the playable character try to dethrone the current Pokémon League Champion, in a tournament that various other Gym leaders and rivals also compete in.
This installment brings with it 81 new Pokémon and 13 regional variants of pre-existing Pokémon.
Sword and Shield received a positive response from critics overall, with praise directed toward creature design, simplicity, player freedom, and all the new features.
Pokémon Sword and Shield became the fastest-selling game on the Nintendo Switch, selling more than 17 million copies worldwide to date!

Pokemon Legends: Arceus Introduces New Hisuian Variants And Evolutions
Just like the unique Galarian Pokemon found in Pokemon Sword and Shield, Pokemon Legends: Arceus will introduce us to new Hisuian variants. The latest trailer shows off a host of new Pokemon variants and evolutions we’ll find in the upcoming adventure, and the official Pokemon Legends website offers more details about these new additions.
Wyrdeer, for example, is the new evolution of a Stantler who has acclimatized to the environments of the region. Said to have “strong ties” with the locals of Hisui, Wyrdeer is a Normal / Psychic “big horned” Pokemon who has been respected and taken care of in the lands since ancient times.
Basculegion is another new evolution that is said to be a powerful swimmer. Just like the Wrydeer, the Basculegion has special evolution requirements unique to the region. Once a Basculin is possessed by the souls of other Basculin from its school, it evolves into Basculegion – that’s quite the mouthful isn’t it? Basculegion is a Water / Ghost-type who fights with these souls to attack opponents.
Hisuian Braviary is the region’s variant of the evolution of Rufflet. As a Fighting / Flying type, Hisuian Braviary is larger than other Braviarys found in different regions and lives alone rather than flying in flocks.
Most excitingly of all, though, is the fact that you appear to be able to ride some of these Pokemon and use them as mounts on land, in the sky, and in water to explore the world of the new adventure.
Is Pokemon Legends: Arceus Open
Whilst it seemed that Nintendo officially confirmed that Pokemon Legends: Arceus is an open-world game, it has now clarified that it won’t be fully open-world.
“In Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Jubilife Village will serve as the base for surveying missions,” reads a statement provided to Kotaku. “After receiving an assignment or a request and preparing for their next excursion, players will set out from the village to study one of the various open areas of the Hisui region. After they finish the survey work, players will need to return once more to prepare for their next task. We look forward to sharing more information about exploring the Hisui region soon.”
Set in the Hisui region, which will one day come to be known as the Sinnoh region, the latest look at the game’s setting of the Hisui region, we get to see some of the diverse natural environments we’ll get explore, and also check out some of the different terrain types and weather conditions, including snowy climbs, rainfall over lush green vistas, and desert lands.
Game Freak promises that “this is a Sinnoh unlike anything Trainers have experienced before as they embark to create the regions first Pokédex”.
