So while you may only get one chance to nab a mythical Pokémon such as Jirachi, youre guaranteed to get it if you follow the task guidelines.
Some mythical Pokémon were first made available to trainers who bought a ticket for a special event.
But as ticket-only Pokémon such as Celebi and Jirachi were eventually made available to everyone, dont panic if you havent got one. Youll catch it eventually.

How to encounter and catch every legendary Pokémon
Legendary Pokémon are known for being rare and hard to catch. There are currently 81 legendary Pokémon if you include mythical Pokémon and Ultra Beasts so if you are looking to catch em all, youll definitely need some help along the way.
In many of the Pokémon games, including Sword and Shield, you will encounter several legendaries on your adventures around Galar. However, if you are playing Pokémon GO, youll need to complete Special Research tasks, battle in five-star raids, and defeat Team Rocket Leader Giovanni for a chance at catching these powerful Pokémon.
Each main series game usually has an exclusive legendary, which means you have to trade your favourites between games. Pokémon Sword and Shields latest expansion, The Crown Tundra, has mixed up the formula and made every single legendary available to catch by completing Dynamax Adventures.

How To Find Legendary Pokemon In Pokemon Go
As mentioned above, you have to defeat Raid Bosses in order to capture Legendary Pokemons. In order to catch one, you have to go to a popular place. Here is the step by step process to defeat Raid Boss and capture previous and new Legendary Pokemons.
Step 1: Find a Raid pass
First, walk within the range of a Pokemon Gym and spin the circle to get a Raid Pass. You can get only one Raid Pass a day.
Alternatively, you can upgrade to the Premium Raid Pass. You can buy get as many Premium Raid Passes as you want.
Step 2: Find a Legendary Raid Boss
- Pink stripped egg: Normal monsters
- White and yellow egg: Rare monsters
- Blue and purple striped egg: Legendary monsters
You have around 30 minutes to team up with players and defeat the Raid Boss.
Use your Raid Pass until you beat the boss, or until you have reached the boss time limit. If youâre in less populated, wait a while at the raid boss location for more people to show up.
You might defeat one or two raid boss on your own. But, by teaming up with other players, you might defeat more super-strong Pokemons.

Known as the Pitch-Black Pokémon, Darkrai is the embodiment of nightmares.
Originating from the Sinnoh region, Darkrai is a member of the Lunar Duo, alongside its counterpart, Cresselia. Each legendary Pokémon inhabits an island that geographically sit opposite each other Cresselia lives on Fullmoon Island, while Darkrai can be found on Newmoon Island.
Darkrai has the ability to both create and inhabit nightmares. People who have cursed with dreams by Darkrai often become trapped within them, unable to wake up. If this happens, the dreamer can only be saved by the Lunar Wing from Cresselia.
If you wanted to catch Darkrai in Pokémon Platinum, you had to save Sailor Eldritch’s son from his nightmares using the Lunar Wing. You would then be able to access the Harbor Inn in Canalave City using the Member Card. Here you would fall into a nightmare and find yourself on Newmoon Island.

Tornadus is effectively useless and Thundurus isnt much better . If youre looking for a strong Pokemon to raid during GO Fest, Landorus is a very good pick. Just skip the other two.
Had it have been their Therian Formes as pictured below, they would have almost certainly ranked higher.
Pokemon Go Fest 2021 Day 2 Guide: Legendary Raid Schedule
Every Legendary Pokemon will return to five-star Raids during the second day of July’s big Pokemon Go event.
Pokemon Go Fest 2021 is just around the corner. The two-day event takes place July 17-18, with different Pokemon and activities awaiting players each day. Whereas day 1 is themed around catching wild Pokemon, day 2 is all about Raids, and you’ll have another chance to encounter every single Legendary that has appeared in Pokemon Go to date throughout the day.
As developer Niantic detailed on the Pokemon Go blog, every Legendary Pokemon is returning to five-star Raids during the second day of Pokemon Go Fest 2021. Like the virtual habitats running on day 1, there will be different themed Raid hours rotating throughout the day, each of which will feature different types of Legendary Pokemon. How Often Can You Fight Giovanni In Pokmon Go
Every calendar month, youll receive a new Giovanni Special Research task, which will become available at midnight on the first day of every month.
This will give you a Super Rocket Radar, giving a reliable way of battling Giovanni at least once a month, with the possibility of being able to catch a different legendary Shadow Pokémon.
For example, if youve completed Looming in the Shadows in November 2019, you could start A Challenging Development straight away at the beginning of December 2019.
If you finished Looming in the Shadows, however, in a month other than November 2019, then you will automatically skip to that months Giovanni Special Research quest, unable to complete any of the other quests that came in-between.
As well as from monthly quests, as long as you have a Super Rocket Radar in your inventory, you can fight Giovanni at any time. It has been a reward in several additional quests, so they might be worth saving until a month where the Shadow Pokémon reward available is one you want to stock up on.
The Season of Mischief is here!Current events, include Season 9 of the Go Battle League, the addition of Raid Achievements and the Misunderstood Mischief research quest. Shiny Ditto can also now be found in the wild and this tricky Pokémon is now appearing as new creatures!Meanwhile, the last major update saw a level cap increase including the addition of XL Candy, boosts to some XP sources and the addition of Platinum Medals.

But collecting the full set is a pain as the tricky threesome are region locked. So youll have to wait until theyre in raids, then hope for a remote invite from a far-flung friend you can make lots of new friends around the world by sharing your friend code.

How Do I Get Invited To A Legendary Pokemon Raid
The new trailer did make clear that Legendary Raids won’t be for all players. Certain players will be invited to attend Legendary Raids via a Legendary Raid Pass that’s distributed automatically.
However, we still don’t know what sort of criteria is involved in choosing who gets a Legendary Raid Pass. An article about Legendary Raids sent a month ago implied that players would be chosen based on how active they were in the game, but even that’s pretty vague.
Will players be chosen based on their proximity to the site of the Legendary Raid? How far will players be expected to travel for the chance at a Legendary Pokemon? Will Raids be distributed based on a player’s Level, how many Pokemon they have in gyms, or some other criteria?
We won’t start getting answers to this question until July 23, when the first Legendary Raid Boss appears in the wild.
Advice For Catching Pokemon Go Legendaries
– Its disappointing but dont expect to catch on your first Raid. The catch rates differ per Legendary but the odds are not high.
– Increase your odds with curveballs and Golden Razz Berries but only do curveballs if you are definitely sure you can hit it. Dont waste Premier Balls unnecessarily because you have a limited stock.
– Throw your Premier Ball after a Legendary has just done its attack move to make sure they dont just flick your Premier Ball away.
– If you’re lucky enough to get a shiny Legendary after a raid, it’s an insta-catch! So use a Pinap Berry and as long as you don’t miss with every ball, you’ll definitely catch it.
– The faster you defeat the legendary, the more Premier Balls you’ll have to attempt the catch with. So enlist as many fellow trainers as possible and get the right counters for that legendary in your party!
– If you are having trouble with Raid numbers, try signing up for your local Discord or Facebook Pokemon Go community. Therell be plenty of people in the same situation and organising Raid groups.

It’s Long Past Time For ‘pokmon Go’ To Let Legendaries Into Gyms

Pokémon GO is in a good place right now, but there are some aspects of the game that are starting to feel dated, given how much has changed in the past two years since the game was first released.
A long time ago, back when Legendaries were first introduced into GO, the immediate rule was that you could not place them into gyms. This was to prevent every gym from being full of nothing but Zapdos, Moltres and Articuno, with people desperate to show off their new catches, which at the time, did make some amount of sense.
But fast-forward to two years later and the game has changed. We are now up to the following list of legendaries:
- Articuno
- Regice
- Regirock
Thats 17 legendaries that players have caught and are forbidden from being a part of the gym defender ecosystem, and suddenly these restrictions dont seem so important any more.

The fact is, most of these legendaries are not even especially good defenders anyway, so theres no real point continuing this ban. The most annoying gym defender in the game has been Blissey for a good long while now, which would still be the hardest to fight out of any of these given that shes just a giant wall of defense and HP that is incredibly irritating to try to hack down.
