Best Of Black & White Tins

Opening a Pokemon TCG Black and White Series Kyurem Box!

The Best of Black & White Tins are a set of five different tins that have all been released before. These five include the Mewtwo-EX, Darkrai-EX, and Rayquaza-EXLegendary EX Tins and the Black Kyurem-EX, and White Kyurem-EXEX Power Tins. The five promotional cards are exactly the same, the two Kyurem tins still feature the two Meloetta promotional cards, and they all retain the same back descriptions as their previous releases. The only difference is that the four booster packs included in the tins are updated to be much more recent to their November 2013 release.

Next Destinies Theme Decks

The Next Destinies expansion brought with it two Theme Decks: Explosive Edge and Voltage Vortex. They featured the two main Legendary Pokémon of Unova, Reshiram and Zekrom, respectively. Unlike the first three expansions of the Black & White Series, these Theme Decks were released the day of the set, instead of weeks prior. In addition, their featured cards, Reshiram and Zekrom, used the Tinsel Holofoil, instead of the Cracked Ice Holofoil typically used in Theme Decks. Each included a Pokémon Trading Card Game Online code that allows the deck to be unlocked online.

New Next Destinies information surfaces

Released together with the Next Destinies expansion, various Blister Packs hit store shelves on February 8, 2012. In an unprecedented move by The Pokémon Company International, the Blister Packs for North America began to include different assortments of products compared to the international blisters. The familiar Three Pack Blisters, released internationally, came in two varieties: one with an exclusive Cosmos Holofoil Riolu promotional card, and one with an exclusive Cosmos Holofoil Luxio promotional card. These Blisters included three Next Destinies booster packs, and a coin featuring Munna.

Black & White: Boundaries Crossedxy: Roaring Skies

Only five Black & White sets remained in the format following the 20142015 rotation. While Hypnotoxic Laser & Keldeo-EX continued to see play, not much else from Black & White could keep up with the impressive new cards of the XY sets. Most of Black & Whites remaining cards got left behind as the Pokémon Trading Card Game entered its next phase.

The 20132014 season began as the final two Black & White sets debuted. First, there was Plasma Blast, which introduced a new deck built around the Grass-type duo of Virizion-EX & Genesect-EX. Also in Plasma Blast was Jirachi-EX, which offered players some insurance against Supporter-less opening hands.

Yveltal-EX relied on Dark Patch and Double Colorless Energy to deal massive damage

The final Black & White set, Legendary Treasures, contained mostly reprints and did not have a major impact on the competitive metagame. Then, in February 2014, XY debuted. Though XY brought some powerful new Pokémon, including Yveltal-EX, Virizion-EXs Verdant Wind proved too valuable in a format where Hypnotoxic Laser remained popular. Worlds 2014 saw two Virizion-EX/Genesect-EX decks face off in the Masters Division Finals, with Andrew Estrada of Canada defeating 2012 Champion Igor Costa.

Costas winning deck was built to draw prize cards. With Smeargles Portrait, he could play two Supporters in one turn, discarding Darkness Energy along the way so that Darkrai-EX could be powered by Dark Patch. Once attacking, Junk Arm allowed him to easily retrieve Pokémon Catcher, ensuring most of his turns ended with a meaningful knockout. As the game progressed, Costa would accumulate Energy in play, waiting for the perfect opportunity to use Shaymins Celebration Wind to deliver a massive X Ball attack from Mewtwo-EX. While his deck may have looked similar to many of the other decks at Worlds 2012, one key difference was his inclusion of the Fighting-type Terrakion, which gave him a small edge against other Darkrai-EX decks.

Following Black & White: Xy

Beginning at XY, the Pokémon TCG gained some extremely powerful cards, some so strong they resulted in The Pokémon Company International issuing their first competitive card ban. Reminiscent of the infamous BaseGym format of 2000, the XY sets eventually produced a format full of overpowered combos, where players could draw through their deck to establish a commanding advantage on their first turn.

The importance of including the Plasma Blast set should not be understated, though, as it adds game-changing cards to the format, like Virizion-EX and Jirachi-EX. Japanese Pokmon Heartgold And Soulsilver Sets

When the Heartgold and Soulsilver Pokémon trading card lineup was released in Japan, it was done differently from in America. It also had an abnormally long waiting period in between the first and second sets.

It has 140 cards in total, including the following special cards: Alph Lithograph, Ursaring Prime, Crobat Prime, Typhlosion Prime, Meganium Prime, Blissey Prime, Donphan Prime, Ampharos Prime, Feraligatr Prime, Lugia LEGEND, and Ho-Oh LEGEND. Pokémon TCG: Black & White

BulbanewsPlasma Blast Elite Trainer Box has been unveiled

After the success of the first Plasma Storm Elite Trainer Box, The Pokémon Company International believed that Elite Trainer Boxes should become an integral part of the TCG merchandise line up. Two sets later came the Plasma Blast Elite Trainer Box. Heartgold Soulsilverblack & White: Dark Explorers

The 20112012 season followed a World Championship where Pokémon from the Black & White set had just made their first splash. Their first successful archetypes combined them with Pokémon from the HeartGold SoulSilver sets, such as the duo of Typhlosion Prime and Black & Whites Reshiram.

Also seeing success was the pair of Magnezone Prime and Emboar, which formed the basis of 2011 World Champion David Cohens Twinboar deck.

As the 20112012 season began, the second Black & White set, Emerging Powers, was released, bringing more of the new fifth-generation Pokémon into decks. Emerging Powers Gothitelle was paired with Black & Whites Reuniclus, which could keep the 130-HP Stage 2 clear of damage while denying the opponent the use of Item cards.

But the most noteworthy card in Emerging Powers was Pokémon Catcher, a reprint of Base Sets iconic Gust of Wind. Pokémon Catcher entered the game in a format where HS Triumphants Junk Arm was still legal, allowing players to easily and repeatedly target their opponents Benched Pokémon.

After Emerging Powers was Noble Victories, which brought Pokémon that enabled the creation of several new decks:

The following set, Dark Explorers, brought more Pokémon-EX into the format. The strongest of these was Darkrai-EX, which could take advantage of new Item cards made just for Darkness-type Pokémon.

Plasma Blast Theme Decks

With the Plasma Blast expansion on August 14, 2013 came the Plasma Blast Theme Decks, Mind Wipe and Solar Strike. Mind Wipe features the Paleozoic Pokémon Genesect in a Grass-type and Psychic-type focused Theme Deck. Solar Strike, on the other hand, features the Sun Pokémon Volcarona, as well as the Fire-type and Water-types. Each deck features the titular Pokémon as a Cracked Ice Holofoil exclusive to the deck, in addition to damage counters, a custom coin, a rule sheet, a deckbox featuring their respective Pokémon, and a code for the Pokémon Trading Card Game Online, allowing players to unlock the deck online. The two exclusive custom coins also feature Genesect, and are of the larger size introduced in the Plasma Freeze Theme Decks.

List Of Pokmon Trading Card Game Sets

This article relies too much on references to primary sources. Please improve this by adding secondary or tertiary sources.

This is a list of Pokémon Trading Card Game sets which is a collectible card game first released in Japan in 1996. As of September 2017, there were 74 card sets released in America and 68 in Japan. Collectively, there are 6,959 cards in the Japanese sets and 9,110 cards in the English sets. The large difference stems from non-holofoil duplicates of rare cards included in English sets that are not printed in Japanese sets. As of March 2017, 23.6 billion cards had been shipped worldwide.

The sets are generally broken into two lists: one for the first line of Wizards of the Coast cards and the second after Nintendo‘s acquisition of the card game after Wizards.

Black & Whiteplasma Freeze

Opening a Pokemon TCG Black and White Series Reshiram Box!

The 20122013 season rotated out the HeartGold SoulSilver sets, creating a Black & White-On format. The first expansion to join the new format was Dragons Exalted, which introduced Dragon-type Pokémon to the game. The Dragon-type Rayquaza-EX now became the preferred partner for Eelektrik, replacing Mewtwo-EX.

Also in Dragons Exalted was Garbodor, finally giving players a way to block Abilities. Tool Scrapper debuted in the same set, ensuring things stayed fair.

Following Dragons Exalted was Boundaries Crossed, which featured a Water-type duo too obvious to not become an immediate archetype.

Plasma Storm followed, bringing Hypnotoxic Laser & Virbank City Gym, a lethal combo that gave decks a way to deal quick and easy damage.

The final set to join the 20122013 format was Plasma Freeze, which contained a powerful trio of Team Plasma Pokémon that would form the basis of a new deck.

Blastoise decks also gained Superior Energy Retrieval, allowing them to easily repeat powerful attacks, like Black Kyurem EXs Black Ballista.

One month before the World Championships, at the US National Championships, Plasma seemed to be the deck to beat. Edmund Kuras accomplished this with the popular combination of Accelgor and Gothitelle, defeating Ryan Sabelhauss Plasma deck in the Masters Division Finals.

With incredible luck, I made it all the way to the Finals, where I stuck to my original strategy to defeat Simon Narodes Plasma deck and win my third World Championship.
